Comic Values Annual 2003
The ratings of each comic is very good, however the biggest problem is that the index gives wrong pages as to the location of many of the comics. Then too the binding is coming apart after only 45 days use. It would be a good thing to offer a replacement that is correct and better bound.
Misprint... But excellent Guide!
Overall, the Comics Values Annual 2003 is an excellent Guide for Comic Book Collectors. It is easy to read and understand. The only thing that bothers me is that the Page Numbers are off by 28 Pages compared to the Index. This must be due to the 28-Page Part in the front of the book. The page numbering should have been started over on Page 29 (where the actual Price Guide begins). I keep this guide together with a calculator, look up the comic in the Index and add 28 Pages to that.
Always a pleasure
Well, well, well, it must be a new year because the new slate of comicbook price guides are (finally) out. As always, the best of the bunch is the one put out by CVA. Not only is it the easiest to read, and contains a wealth of information, it is simply the best-organized book of the bunch. I highly recommend it.

This guy needs to check his prices!
Where is Malloy getting his values from? I remember when he had Comics Values Monthly, the values were right on. But now it seems like he just pulls prices out of thin air. If you want to determine a fair value for your comics, look elsewhere.
Good alternative to Overstreet
The only guide that has the guts to list Underground comix in detail. This guide also has an easier format to flip through than Overstreet, which has become swamped with ads.
Not a complete listing, but for most collectors, this one will do quite well.
Prices were accurate
This book had many comic titles that are not found in most of the other guides and the prices were fairly accurate. It was Much more accurate than Overstreet's guide.

don't waste your money
This book is indeed easy to follow and the items in it can be made from easily found items. This is because they are so basic that a school child could concieve and make, most of them without the aid of a manual. In short anyone with any pyro-tecnical interest or limited knowledge of the subject will be very disapointed with this very short uninformative book.
This book is so-so
If you ask me, this book was written by another author who copied someone elses work and just wants to make an extra dollar. Its a 60 page book about how to make bombs from commonly found items. Its just too simple to be safe. If you want to waste your money, keep it out of the hands of 10 year olds...
per expectations
This book is exactly what it claims to be. I can not compare the information contained with whatever might be floating around the internet. I will point out that taking direction on the preparation of home made explosives from an internet source is nearly as stupid as soliciting medical advice from a chat room. Either is a wonderful way of removing yourself from the gene pool in a big hurry. From my perspective, this book has two drawbacks. First, there is a certain beautiful symmetry in the expectation that anyone who would seriously consider using this type of information to harm other people would also be stupid enough to end up crippling or killing themselves. Anything that would interfere with that destiny is inherently a bad thing. Secondly, it is easy to imagine someone purchasing this book purely out of morbid curiosity, only to have it picked up years later by young children who might be a bit casual about following the directions carefully. Think it wouldn't happen?

U got to be kiddin
books like this are not a relaible source if you want to make explosives because they would probaly blow up in your face.
If you want good books, try Poor man's James bond, princples of improvised explosive device (Switches) and Home workshop explosives (on Amazon) because you can make the stuff, if you wanted to but.
Also don't get caught with books because of September 11
Do not show them off to your friends or family
Make-believe Anarchism for revolutionary wannabees
All the information in this book is either bogus or suitable only for puerile kiddie games for the weird types who like to sit around and play like make-believe revolutionaries. None of the instructions are adequate to make the infernal devices described (blasting caps, pipe bombs, grenade launchers, Claymore mines, rocket launchers) and most require access to conventional explosives (from unspecified sources). There are no discussions about how to prepare actual explosive mixtures (any 19th century handbook or innumerable Websites will give much, much more reliable information), and the one explosives recipe (for "plastic explosives") is a joke and would not work (although grinding potassium chlorate crystals into a fine powder as recommended could cause autodetonation and serious injury to the would-be bomb-maker.....).
This short (64 pp) book is poorly printed and full of typos. I deeply regret having wasted my (...) on it.
you gotta be kidding
the methods in this book are inaccurate and out of date. many of them have very vague formulas with incomplete instructions. if you want to learn about explosives, there are several great books on pyrotechnics available on this site alone, and dozens more available elsewhere. this book has become a standing joke among the pyrotechnic community.
