One of the Greatest Artists that Ever Lived
This book is just mesmerizing - it is so beautiful. Mark Rothko took art to a spiritual level that has seldom been achieved. The beauty of his colors and the simplicity of his work mesh to dominate the field of art, and make him a true master of our times. This particular book is full of color pictures of his work. Highly recommended for any art lover.

An exquisite presentation
American artist Mark Rothko's artworks represents the very foundations of the Abstract Expressionist movement, and his key works are here presented in full-page color, introduced by essays from his contemporaries. This superbly produced volume with its exquisite presentation considers all of Rothko's works and contributions and is an essential acquisition for any serious collection on the Abstract Expressionist movement.

Utter Beauty
Yes, the reviewer who commented on the quality of the prints needs to get their specs looked at. This book is wonderfully produced, from the quality of the printing to the quality of the paper. It will sit alongside Anfan's wonderful catalogue raisonee on my shelves. I only wish I had followed my urge to hop on the Eurostar train from London to Paris on a day trip to see the exhibition. The last full Rothko exhibition I saw was in London in 1987, a mind expanding experience. This book is a world better than the catalogue of that exhibition and is definitely a must for any Rothko admirer. I will be in the Rothko room of the new Tate Modern gallery almost every day.

Top ColdFusion seller for a reason
Excellent reference. Although aimed squarely at new ColdFusion developers, there is enough meat in this book to satisfy experienced developers. Well-written and easy to follow, Forta shows why he is well respected in the CF community. Note that many of the advanced topics present in previous editions have been moved to the "Advanced" book.

The Ultimate ColdFusion Book!
I've been using his books for a while and I can say without hesitation that they are the best and most complete ColdFusion books available. Although it is long, there are plenty of examples to keep one busy and learning. It is about 500 pages bigger than the last edition (ColdFusion 4). Great intro to Dreamweaver and Flash integration. Ben Forta writes great books. I recommend it highly.

This book could teach a Monkey
I've been using ColdFusion for years, and this book (starting with the earlier versions) has always been an indispensable part of my library. The first seven chapters are essential to train beginners, and the complete reference section at the end keeps me picking it up at least once a week. While you won't be using the whole book forever, the completeness of this book will cover you in any situation. Some people that I've trained even say that the book makes for good reading; while it is less bland than most reference books, I wouldn't say that. If you expect to use CF on a regular basis, you need this book or something like it. Add the Advanced version once you're familiar with CF. Unless there's something wrong with you, you can train yourself in CF with this book. If you have previous programming experience, you'll breeze it.

Excellent portrayal of what a Coach's life is like...
I thought Calipari brought to life the trials that coaches in the ever expanding game of NCAA basketball go through on a daily basis. From recruiting to Final Four appearances, Calipari lets the reader in on what goes on inside the locker room and beyond.

Perfectly titled. You can feel his intensity.
As a University of Memphis booster involved in some of the details of his hiring, I looked forward to reading this book to see if the coach we hired was a facade or for real. You can't read this book without getting fired up. Obviously a great salesman who is dealing on a higher plain than just "basketball coach". I hope four years from now he writes another book on how he completed the dream by winning the NCAA championship in Memphis.

Learn a lot about the behind the scenes steps necessary to raise a basketball program from the pits to the promised land.

Gourmet vegan - but not for those in a hurry!
This is a wonderful cookbook for the experienced cook. The recipes are complex and use unusual ingredients but it is worth the effort.

Most of the recipes are made up of multiple sub recipes but some can be simplified.

This is my all time favourite cookbook and I have lots of cookbooks. I learnt many new vegan cooking techniques from this book.

For everyone, vegans and non-vegans, who loves good food.
The biggest impediment to the acceptance of veganism is the stereotype that exists concerning the taste of vegetarian cuisine. The Millennium Cookbook offers some of the best tasting, best looking recipes that I have ever had, vegan or not. The range of flavors and ingredients used are creative and delicious, and provide a lot of inspiration for trying out varieties of foods that you may never have used before. They end up looking great no matter what, so though some recipes take some time, they will be well worth it if you have company you want to impress. There are variations and tips on sauces and dressings if you want to make the same thing in a different way. And there is nutritional information contained for each recipe on calories, fats, proteins, carbohydrates, sodium and fiber for those who are concerned. There is cholesterol information too, although everything has 0 cholesterol anyway. If you like the stuff in this cookbook, you'll probably want to visit the restaurant in San Francisco as well, which is another great experience in itself.

And everything is fun to make, at least for me. You'll have to buy it to find out if it's fun for you too. And yes, some recipes take time and more than a few ingredients. But this book shows that there are no sacrifices a vegan has to make with regards to taste. Delicious and healthful vegan cuisine can and does exist. Breaking down the taste stereotype is as important as vegan ethics and health in gaining mainstream acceptance of veganism.

A milestone in vegan cuisine
Overall, this is one of the best cookbooks I own, and I make that claim as a former meat-eater and a recent most-of-the-time vegan. I have been using "The Millennium Cookbook" since February and have made roughly half of the recipes in the book, including nearly all of those for pasta and pizza. I use this book all the time. My husband--a sometimes meat-eater with an open mind and palate--says nearly always that our Millennium meals are "exquisite." I certainly concur. Here are some stand-outs, in our view:

Appetizers: Roasted Tomato and White Bean Galettes; Plantain Torte; Grilled Portobellos with Herb-Tofu Aioli and Red Onion Marmalade

Salads: Oil-Free Caesar Dressing; Millennium Warm Spinach Salad; Curried Almond Dressing; Ruby Grapefruit, Avocado, and Pickled Red Onions with Baby Spinach and Grapefruit Mojo Dressing; Moroccan Eggplant Salad

Soups: Yellow Split Pea Soup with Sage and Smoked Dulse Gremolata; Brazilian Black Bean Soup with Coffee and Orange

Pasta and Pizza: Pasta with White Wine-Marinated Tomatoes and Basil; Mushroom, Fennel, and Dill Cream Penne; Marinated Fig, Onion, and Black Olive Pizzas with Herb-Tofu Aioli; Caramelized Garlic and Smoked Portobello Pizzas; Tempeh Pizzas with Puttanesca Sauce

Sides: Millennium Fat-Free Mashed Potatoes

Entrees: Baked Madras-Glazed Tofu with Saffron Basmati Pilaf, Sauteed Vegetables, and Peach-Lime Chutney; Rosa Bianca Eggplant Torte with Smoked Onion Ratatouille and Flageolet-Sage Sauce; Seitan Piccata; Grilled Jerked Seitan with Coconut Mashed Yams; Spring Onion, Morel, Fresh Pea, and Lemon Thyme Risotto

Brunch: Smoked Tempeh and Potato Sausages; Flaxseed-Apple-Battered French Toast with Warm Apple Compote; Millennium Oat and Walnut Pancakes with Blueberry-Orange Sauce

Desserts: Mocha Mud Slide; Mad Good Chocolate Cake; Pine Nut and Anise Cake; Brownies a la Mode; Chocolate-Almond Midnight; Meyer Lemon Bundt Cakes with Blackberry Sorbet and Meyer Lemon Sauce; Fig and Almond Tart with Red Wine and Pear Cream

The desserts are "to die for," especially the fat-free version of their brownies. Overall, the meals are delicious, filling, and very satisfying. We don't hesitate to accompany them with a good bottle of wine.

Another plus is that with time, you get a feel for using fat substitutes (e.g., braised garlic, stewed prunes, and the amazing silken tofu) and can soon come up with your own novel creations.

Readers should be aware that this book does have its drawbacks. While many of the recipes can be made easily and quickly (pasta and pizza, mostly), many others require considerable time and effort. Close inspection reveals that there are a certain number of errors (sometimes of omission, e.g., saffron-cream sauce that leaves out the saffron ..., or even lack of directions). It should be noted that these can be attributed ultimately to the editors and not to the authors. I'm sure the second edition will clear these up. I've also found that many of the recipes work better with a little less liquid than called for (I don't know if this is a question of personal preference, altitude, or something else). For the above reasons, the "Millennium" is not for beginning cooks, in my view. But if you know how to cook, want to be a vegan, and are tired of searching "Gourmet" for the odd recipe that doesn't contain animal ingredients, this book is for you as much as it is for me--an inveterate "food snob" of the first order.

Given rising rates of population and chronic disease, along with diminishing resources, vegan cooking is inevitably the culinary wave of the future. Compared to the other vegan cookbooks out there (even "The Vegan Gourmet"), the "Millennium" is the best. It's certainly worthwhile to join its celebration of great plant-based food. This is the best investment I've made in a cookbook in many years.

Training a Dog to Live in Your Home: Covering Housebreaking, Chewing, Behavior Modification, Miscellaneous Dog Problems

this book is not for the never owned a dog,new dog owner.
While the author's approach is very no-nonsense, the book had no flow, examples of specific behavior problems where scattered throughout, and some sections did not even have a complete solution. the author is writing this for experienced dog owners. Of course most refrences were to puppies, and I did not agree that these methods work with older dogs.. very confusing book.

Must read for every dog owner. Common sense dog training.
As a former dog owner considering getting a new canine friend, I was very impressed with this book. The author's approach is extremely no-nonsense and focussed on effective training techniques. The book is highly readable and both I and my wife read the book in less than hour each. Compared to this book, most of the other books on dog-training that I have read pale, and seem outdated in their methodology.

I was looking for his second follow-up book but could not find it.

Warning
This book is not meant for the beginner and intermediate programer. The author intended this book for the elite. Don't buy this book if you don't have a background in Discrete Math or have Master the c language. Wouldn't not recommend this book to colleges who have a Data Structures class for undergraduates. The code in the book assumes that you can piece together the individual functions to write a full program in c. Also There is no problems that a student can try on his/her own and then find the answer in back of book.

Data Structures and Algorithm Analysis
this book provides a concise and fundamental look into algorithms. Excellent book if you want to learn performance time and running time on your written code and gives you the technique to speed up your code. It does not focus too much on what kind of programming language you use and it is to be read in a general sense.

good detail and how-to pictures
This is the book that I used the first time I butchered and package a deer. It explains various ways of butching, and the purpose for each. The pictures are a great help too. There are a lot of recipes to try too. Although I didn't find a sausage recipe that I liked, there are many other recipes for cooking that looked good.

I'm trying to find the book now to put in my personal library that I can use for reference in the future.

Pathetic!
Ignore the hype. This is poorly written and just plain dull..

Good Basic Primer -- but a little dated
This book had both good and not so good chapters. The information shared from scientific studies of whitetail deer habits was very useful to me. The chapters on the whitetails eyes, nose, and ears were quite entertaining, particularly information on the use of scents which addresses attractants and the ability of some attractants to actually repel deer if not used properly or if used in the wrong environment. Bowhunter's will quickly see why the book is outdated because the compound bow speed cited by the author is around 230 feet per second -- they are now over 300 fps which makes some of the discussion about a deer "jumping the string" irrelevant. But the information could still be useful by simply updating the speed figures. I have been hunting whitetail deer for over 20 years and this book was a great refresher. However, some of the previous comments about some dull chapters or some sense of commercialism have merit. At any rate, I don't feel like I wasted my money and will use some of the information on this year's hunt.

Informative and helpful tool for hunting the Whitetale Deer
The first, second, and third chapters are very important to any serious deer hunter. Weiss has shown great insight on what keeps this animal alive. Keen eye's can spot any movement, a nose that can pick up sent 10,000 times greater than man's, and ears that can detect and pin point sound from any direction. Weiss has also given helpful information concerning maps, and were to purchase them so you can focus on food sources, traveling patterns, and bedding areas for whitetale deer. However I must add this personal note: I have found a more informative book for hunting, using scents, and scouting deer habitat. (Southern Deer & Deer Hunting, by Dr. Larry Weishuhn & Bill Bynum.)
