This was my first GRE reference and practice book and it has proven to be the best. There couldn't have been better explanatory advice and comments that you could find in other GRE references of this nature. I personally find the verbal part in the book very useful in expanding my lexicon that was required for the test. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is serious about taking the GRE!

the price of the book is very high for our indian students,especially for middle & poor class students so this must be reveiwed & the price must be reduced

Weiner's book credibly describes some of the medium's most important works. It could be a good starting point for those who haven't read comics in many years or perhaps for parents looking to find something to engage their kids. It's also a fine, quick read for those who already know about the industry, offering a few surprises and lesser-known gems.

The world of literature is rapidly changing. Today people are
bombarded with numerous entertainment formats that were not available in past years. The comic strip has adapted readily
to these changes and has grown. There are numerous sophisticated
graphic novels that prose readers might enjoy, even treasure,
if exposed to them. Further, there are several graphic novels
that do not feature superheroes that might well be enjoyed by
superhero readers. I wrote this book to alert the general
public and the comic book reader to these changes in this oft-
maligned form of communication. This book is intended to help you see an old media a bit differently.

Stephen Weiner's 101 Best Graphic Novels (1-56163-283-X) provides a critical selection of the best works, with each recommendation including a plot synopsis and notes about illustrations or other notable achievements. Black and white photos pepper the presentation.

Though i found the Barron's analytical problems a bit harder than any other analytical problems in all the other books like Big Book, Arco's, Kaplan and Princeton Review but they helped me alot in building the true understanding of how to solve the difficult ones in the GRE. In my opinion the time limit given for analytical sections should not be taken into account and tests should be taken untimed and the real goal should be to get all the questions right. Using the above mentioned process when i finished the 10 analytical test sections i got almost perfect in solving the analytical type questions which are logic games etc. To develop speed, however, big book which then looks easier after doing all these problems should be done and then timing for CAT can be developed taking some software tests of Kaplan, Princeton Review and in the end Powerprep. I got 790 in Analytical as a result of all this. The words given in word lists are very important and often come in the real GRE. So if you are able to cram all these words then you'll definitely score high in GRE.

This booklet is about 250 pages, divided in two chapters: the first occupies the majority of the book is a total of 52 neurological cases, each starts with the history and physical exam followed by clues, usually pictures, (neuronatomical or lab or imaging), however no MRI, followed by several short questions, on the next page there are the consice extremely helpfull and shortly explaining answers. After the answers there are several Pearls and pitfalls related to the case: like when you should suspect the disease or important epidemiological information, brief clinical review. Finally few refrrences. The case are well chosen covering wide spectrum of neurology; Headache, Stroke, Meningitis, Vertigo, Ataxia, Neoplasm, Dementia, most intresting were the few, but not uncommon disease such as Botulism, Cervical artery dissection. The drawback is the booklet is many years old, so some treatments are out of date, and there is NO MRI pictures, but that absolutley does not affect to any extent the wide selction of the cases nor the well written expalntions. The second part, about 30 pages is very short 12 cases dealing with common symptome or signs in the office followed by few lines of again well written explanations. As a neurology resident, despite being familiar with those information, I found those 52 and 12 clinical cases very challenging. I beleive it will be a good source for every neurology resident, especially it is fast and easy to read.

May be it's personal but I believe that those who are not geeks of their professions - shouldn't
teach others as well. If you're not fascinated by the topic you talk about - how do you expect
to write a good book ?! I think that this book was written by someone who learned Enterprise Java
just to pay his rent. Writing a book seemed just another possible income ..

Why do I think so ?

Well, topics are explained on the very primitive level and I can actually "smell" that authors
just don't know the material good enough to dig in - they repeat the same basic ideas many times
but leave lot's of questions unanswered (like "Why do some methods in this table return a variable
of a primitive type and others their object wrappers ? Is it just typo or something else ?"),
their code examples take pages but contain only couple of useful (and, again, trivial) lines and ..
typos everywhere (make up your mind already - is it "javax.naming" or "java.naming" ?).

Whatever I look at - I see Java dilettantes, not Java geeks and not even Java professionals
(excuse me, but one who compares two Strings for equality using compareTo() instead of equals()
doesn't have a clue about Java for me !).

I think it is still useful for getting the idea about major J2EE technologies (JDBC, JNDI, servlets,
JSP, RMI, EJB, JMS and JTA) but *on the very basic level*. That's what I keep it for.

P.S.
The title should be changed to "Developing Java Enterprise Applications *for dummies*" because
authors DO treat their readers like a 14-year old kiddies - "type and press ENTER".

It covers the most important Java APIs that the enterprise developer who uses Java.

The books covers JDBC, RMI, JNDI, JTS, JMS, JSP, EJB, and a few other technologies. The book tends to alternate between explanatory and example chapters. So first, JDBC is discussed and then the next chapter walks through an example.

Given the number of topics in this book, each topic is not covered in full detail as most of the topics are worthy of a book all their own (and many of them already have one). However, this book's goal is to cover just enough so you can understand the technology and get started using its core features.

Therefore, this makes the book excellent for trying to figure what these technologies do. In fact, this book is readable by managers as well as developers, if the managers skip the example chapters.

From reading this book, you get the impression that the authors have quite a bit of experience, have used the technologies discussed, and know what they are talking about. On the whole, this is a great book for getting your feet wet with Enterprise Java.

This book provides an excellent overview of the core Enterprise Java technologies for building 3 & N-tier application servers. Though it does not go into too much depth, it did provide enough information (sample code sniplets) and understanding of how each of these technologies play within a distributed OO application service - JMS, JTS, EJB, JavaServerPages, Servlets, and JDBC.

Each chapter provides useful information about the technology and its role in an enterprise application.

Although there are many sources that will provide you with the same kinds of information on JMS, JTS, EJB, ... this book is a very nice single source reference for all these technologies.

If you are new to Enterprise Java or simply need an overview of how all these technologies play together in a distributed intra/internet application server - this is a good book to start with.

This book was, for the most part, a waste of time and money. The computer software contained errors and did not look like the actual test (fractions, for example, were written on this software in a difficult-to-decipher format). The test-taking strategies in this are not useful, and the instructional sections are more time consuming and less helpful than in GRE for Dummies. The only things this book is useful for are additional practice tests and lists of word roots.

Use this book in addition to the official Big Book and PowerPrep software. Read the strategies and hints and learn the 3500-word list, but disregard the model tests and software: they have almost nothing in common with real tests.
I started learning English only after high school, but this book helped me score 2320 on GRE. I must say that most of your preparation time should be spent with the Big Book and also familiarize yourself with the CAT GRE several days before the test date. However keep in mind that GRE tests your life and language experience of many years as well as overall educational background. So the sooner you start preparing, the better.

Barron's GRE book is the best. In addition to Barron's, I used different books suc as Kaplan and Princeton review. I found that if you study this Barron's book diligently, you can do very well on your GRE test. The 3500 word list is very very very helpful.

The quantative questions may be harder than the actual exam. However, if you can master these questions, you should do well on the actual test.

All in all, it's an excellent book. Please give yourself two months as there are a lot of material to be learned and studied.
