E-Business is NOT easy, but it CAN be made simple.
E-Business to the Power of 12: The Principles of. dotCompetition is a breakthrough! For a long time we've had the 4P's of marketing; now we have the 12 P's of E-Business.

In order to really understand and effectively manage anything, such as an electronic business, you must have a 'unified' model that everyone understands and is able to manage respectively. In other words, the business itself needs to be viewable in 'context' so that you can gauge where you stand at any given time and make smart management decisions accordingly. In this fast paced, totally accountable world of electronic business, this is the core to success.

Many companies today, tend to engage in e-business projects; ventures or transformation long before a unified business model and a context for both development and management is established. Many important steps such as learning, planning, and thorough strategy analysis are either skipped or rushed prior to execution; steps that will ultimately maintain alignment between business development, operations, management and marketing in an electronic environment. As a result, electronic enterprises, in particular, due to typically rapid evolution, pay a price for a long time to come trying to manage what becomes unmanageable.

Large and small enterprises alike are also sold e-business solutions prematurely, as "the" answer to their problems and often from vendors ill-equipped to best handle the job within the "context" of the e-business management strategy; something many enterprises simply do not have.

At a time when there is dependency on a host of outsourced companies to operate aspects of your business outside of core competencies, and assuming it's a solid business to be in the first place; ensuring that certain principles and phases of development are adhered to is vital to long term success.

Thomas Power, co founder of Ecademy.com, after thousands of interviews with Internet luminaries such as Dell, Gates, Bezos and Ballmer, successful e-business operators and the like, can help "power" your business with "E-Business to the Power of 12: The Principles of. dotCompetition. Not only are these principles powerful, they are also organized in such a way that they operate as a 'platform', on which you can develop an e-business management strategy and better streamline business development, operations, management and marketing in an electronic environment. You will now know where you stand, what many of your issues are and how to proceed.

Once you've read the book, you can interact with Thomas Power and co, along with e-professionals in major markets around the world at Ecademy.com. Learn, network and develop your e-business within the context of this principle-centered platform. Ecademy.com is the place to be if you're involved with electronic business.

"Physics for Poets"
Overall a good read. This book is about so much more than just Einstein and his theories. About the first 100 pages or so is an introduction to physics--everything from the mechanics of light to gravity and uniform acceleration. It's presented an a relatively (no pun intended) easy-to-understand fashion.

A small portion of the book is biographical in nature, dealing with Einstein's personal and professional life. Even more, of course, is devoted to the development of his brilliant theories, especially the Special and General Theories of Relativity.

Beyond that, there's a lot of information on quantum physics. In my opinion, up to that point, most of the book is written such that the average reader could understand most of it. Of course, once you get to quantum physics, one might question whether ANYONE could really understand that topic!

I would have given this book 4 or maybe even 5 stars, if the author hadn't wasted his (and my!) time with overly-lengthy discussions into "modern psychology" (e.g., Freud, Kant, etc.) and "Eastern mysticism " (e.g., Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism, etc.). While he tries to make a connection between these topics and his discussion of quantum physics, I didn't think it was useful.

The finest book on the topic
Reading The Complete Idiots Guide to Understanding Einstein has been quite an adventure for me through space and time.

The book kicks of with two parts of preliminary information about the history of physics. If you get this book to learn about Einstein I suggest you start at part three. Part one will bore anyone with previous knowledge on the topic. Part two gets a bit more interesting as it goes into thermodynamics (the study of heat) and optics (the study of light).

The third and fourth parts take a lot of concentration and time to get through. I found these two parts very interesting and were pretty much the heart of the book.

Part five moves away from science for and looks at the atomic bomb and World War Two from a historical perspective. This part takes you to the end of Einstein's life. Part six (Worlds beyond Einstein's) is by far the most interesting part of the book as it journeys through different aspect of the Universe.

I strongly recommend this book to anyone interested in physics. If your looking to learn more about Einstein himself, it might be a good idea to stay awat from this book. The only math needed to embark in this excitinting journey is an elementary school knowledge.

A "must have" for all physical science teachers!
This work is excellent, whether you are reading it as supplemental for high school or college or because of an actual interest in Einstein. As a high school chemistry and physics teacher, I was searching for a something to help me explain "special relativity". What I found was a book that would help me teach a wide array of topics, from Kepler and Newton's laws to electromagnetic energy.

There are three aspects of the book that I find most useful. First, being a "complete idiot's guide" means that it is written without being overly scientific. It allows the reader to understand these sometimes difficult topics without having a doctoral degree AND provides interest. Secondly, the integration of the history makes for a multidisciplinary approach similar to what I aim for in my teaching. If science and math are not your "true loves", then the historical and anecdotal notes will reach you. Thirdly, I especially think that the author's ultimately succeeds at his attempt to call for not just tolerance but understanding...whether it be for different theories or different cultures.

There is only one "bone" to pick. In the section on chemical bonding, the author fails to mention that Mendeleev's periodic table is not the one that we use today. Mendeleev organized his table based on increasing atomic mass, which is mentioned in the book. However, our table is based on increasing atomic number, thanks to Henry Moseley (who is not mentioned). This fact is often overlooked. Yet, as a chemistry major, I must fight for Moseley's right to be recognized for this vital contribution.

But one omission does not detract from the overall superiority of the book. This book is a "must have" for all physical science teachers!

There are better books out there.
If you are looking for a source of complete answers to your questions the book is not for you. The Contents Table looks very promising. In fact, even though the outhor tried to cover many aspects of Java1.2 programming almost all the chapters leave doubts. Some of the chapters are so poorely written that you have to wonder through your HELP or Java Documentation files to find your own answers to simple questions. Almost every time I compose something of my own, I have to go through a sequence of tries and corrections because some topic is not well covered.

Good for reference, Bad for learning.
While the writer writes well, he obviously doesn't believe in proofreading as there are numerous mistakes. Looking up specific topics is very easy and the broad coverage of the Java language is impressive. The organization, however, is very poor because more advanced topics tend to appear in chapters about the basics without so much as a "see ch. XX for more information about YY." This is a great reference book for those already familiar with the Java language, but for the learner/beginner, it will be confusing at best.

Great book!
Take a deep breath. This book contains everything but the kitchen sink. I bought the book because of the coverage of RMI and custom sockets, but have since found that the book contains a wealth of information. I'm very impressed. Like all books there are a couple of typos, but by and far it's a clean book. As somebody who is already quite familiar with Java, it's rare that I find a book with so many good examples.

Abstract indeed.
As part of a basic math course, this book was presented. At first glance, it seemed like a tough one. And indeed it is. Especially the "group" part's in this book is very hard-comprehensible, but hey, maybe that's just me.

For preliminary reading I recommend "Linear Algebra - Gateway To Mathematics" by Robert Messer. This clears up a few things before taking on "Abstract Algebra"

Best regards
