I LOVE this series
Kids' books? Yeah, I know. But I'm in college. I read these books first in, oh, Junior High or so. I still think these are the BEST books in the world. Thomas Locke needs to write more (his adult books are pretty good too). A note: If you have a younger child who reads at a higher level, these books are clean! Not too heavy on the Christianity, either, although Christian ethics are definitely present. (Not that there is anything wrong with Christianity, but sometimes authors substitute preaching for good writing!) The first book is fantasy, the last three are more science-fiction. But they are mostly character-driven, not milieu books.

Well written and imaginative
These books are a must for all people (young and old) who haveimagined a different time and place. The books also teach lessonsabout faith and courage, two very important qualities to cultivate in young people. Very good books, Mr. Locke.

Mystical, enchanting, and spiritually fulfilling
We are two 18 year old teenagers from Ontario, Canada. There's not much to do up here in our igloos, and this series of books has filled many a passing hour. We are, however, extremely disappointed that Mr. Locke has not continued his series beyond book 4, and now we will never know what happens to Wander and Consuella. Oh the lamentable pain of it all!!! Hurry up and write new books! We've been waiting for a very long time so we can spend our money at the christian book store on overpriced novels well below our reading level!!

MAKES ME WISH FOR 'THE GOOD OLD DAYS'
Pat Weaver is not as famous as he should be. He's the man who created the 'magazine concept' type of television advertising that we know today. Had he not done this television would have taken a completely different path. Weaver gives us the gossip about David Sarnoff and many others who were resposible for the birth of broadcast media in America. The book is too simply written at times, almost childlike, but really, that's okay because it's a nice 'mind-candy' way to get a great lesson in media history.

Light Weaver

Brief but Interesting
While this book was extremely simple and easy to understand Locke did an excellenct job of "weaving" an exciting story with an awesome faith message. There were parts of the book that I wished had been more detailed, less brief, but all in all the story was interesting and fun to read. I also thought it was awesome how Locke managed to put a moving faith message in his story, while so many fantasy books these days focus on nothing but pagean and made up gods, Locke proves that it is possible to write an interesting story and put the true God into it.

Artless, refreshing series
Much like Katherine Paterson's books, "Light Weaver" is written in a simple format, with not a whole bunch of mumbo-jumbo about "intrigue" and "suspense." But Locke is an unmistakable professional at what he writes, and his character sketches are flawless as he tells the story of Dan and his transformation into Daniel, a knight who's going out into a magical country with no name, on a quest for something he knows nothing about. Excellent dialogue, nice plot, although the ending could have been played up a little more. Wonderful reading.

This Was AWESOME!
I wish this could happen to me! A guy gets in a car wreck and ends up in a fantasy world where all the skills he needs to survive are supplied by God. He meets a pretty girl who helps him with his quest and has a bunch of adventures with a talking rabbit. Then he wakes up and finds out that the girl is real! This book is great for kids and older folks too, and I'd also reccomend the sequels

This is a wonderful book with lots of historical tidbits
This is really more of a history book, to my reading. It has wonderful little known facts that I would never have learned otherwise. There is a lot of research that went into this book, and she obviously worked long and hard to get this book and the history into order. This is a wonderful book for anyone who is interested in Poland or Slavic areas, and the recipies, to me, almost seemed as an afterthought, though I do not doubt they are correct and proper for Poland. Enjoy!!!

Book has a wealth of educational material
This book is filled with a wealth of educational material. This book is comprised of mostly history regarding the culture, the food, and the people. The recipes are well written with measurements in english and metric, temperatures are also given in standard and celcius degrees. Most recipes are from the peasant folk with a few meat dishes sprinkled in. Some recipes are common to today's standards while a few of the others would not typically be seen served in today's kitchen. There are approximately 30 recipes or so in this book. Each recipe has its history in terms of how it was served, to whom it was served, and when it was served. The book is a worthwhile read.
