Pretty Disappointing...
The title of this book is "How to Tune and Modify Bosch Fuel Injection". Well, is says almost nothing about modifying and tuning. Most of the content is about how the Bosch fuel injection works, and the differeces between the various models, but again, not what I was looking for...

many good points and information for the beginer
Many good points and lots of information and specifications for all bosch systems. From the earliest VW systems to the latest. The modify section is short and lacks greatly. Ben Watson says almost nothing about modifing anything.

THERE ARE BETTER BOOKS THAN THIS ONE
This book's title should be "HOW BOSCH FUEL INJECTION WORKS". There are very few ideas on how to modify your bosch fuel injection. The book explains how the fuel injection works and give some data on fuel injection systems installed in some cars. I have also bought other book: "Bosch Fuel Injection and Engine Management" that is definitely a better, more comprehensive, more descriptive book. Although there is just one thing that this book has, that "Bosch Fuel Injection and Engine Management" doesn't: how to tune the volumetric air flow meter. Ben Watson(the author) knows very well what he is talking about, so he doesn't bother explaining deep enough how every piece work. You better buy "Bosch Fuel Injection and Engine Management" by Charles O. Probst.

Rename the Book
The book should be renamed to "How to Clean". The current title sounds like it would give tips on making housework quicker and easier--boy that was way off! The book gives basic details on cleaning a house as any person might already be aware of and there were no shortcuts mentioned. If you're looking for timesaving techniques, it's not here.

Wonderful guide that finally inspired me!
When I check out this book at the local library I thought, "Gee, why am I doing this...." because I don't like how-to books. However, this book turned out to be a great teacher to me and now I'm ordering it to own.The author shows many options in cleaning depending how far you want to go, so I can clean my house anytime... even when I have only 10 minutes before my guests come. You may not need this book if you consider yourself a good housekeeper, but this book will help so many people like me, who don't prefer filthy house but at the same time don't know how to clean and organize it fast, easily, and effectively. Thank you, Patti! Your writing is so funny I enjoyed this guidebook as a book to read, too.

I Returned This Book
This book is not at all what I expected. It is a *really* basic approach to how this stuff works. No real theory at all. I decided to return it within ten minutes of receipt. I like Watson's style, but I did not like the book. It would be good for a newbie who doesn't know anything yet. A better title would be 'General Information on Really, Really Basic Principles of Automotive Operations: With EFI' or 'Induction for Dummies: When to Use a Dual-Plane Intake'. The book is mistitled; I'd give it 2.5 stars, but the title gets Zero stars.

Misleading and poorly published
5/9/00

This book has many typo errors and is poorly published. Example: Page 101 continues on page 104, while page 102 starts in the middle of a paragraph that has no beginning anywhere in the book.

Mr Watson has some nice pictures but does not cover even basic theory. He quotes others and repeats himself. The technological shallowness makes the title misleanding. If you can modify an exhaust system after reading this book, you did not need it to began with!

Mr Watson does give some funny stoies, so if you want a joke book this could be it!

Good informational book, but title is misleading
Watson's book is quite informational, though I have to admit I did not read it cover to cover. I assumed that the book was written for hints and formulas to custom fabricate intake manifolds and exhaust headers. I was incorrect, the book explains several different types of intakes, and such, covering carburetors, forced induction, emissions, exhaust, and the likes. However nothing is given on fabrication of said parts.

Too much theory, good engine rebuild info, little mod info
Very disappointing. Expounds at length on crankshaft and piston theory and little on rod theory. Gives theoretical explanation with few examples of real world engines. Duplicates info on teardown, cleaning, preparation, and buildup available from other [better] sources. Very little on how to implement the few mods mentioned. No mention of how to choose a modified rod length; one paragraph on the benefit of lengthening rods. poor parts selection info; few recommendations. This book represents part of a total book on complete engine rebuild while leaving much to be desired. Useful only if it is your only source of engine info. As a book on how to modify pistons, rods and cranshafts it falls short. For instance, "How to Build and Modify Ford 60 degree V-6 Engines" offers equal info to this book plus much more on how to modify pistons, rods and crankshafts, not to mention oil pumps, heads, valve train, intakes and exhaust.
