Good For Many Ages
Grandma bought this for my daughter when she was about 6 months old. It was an instant favorite then and has continued to be one of our "top 5" most read books. As a baby, my daughter loved the rhyming text. When she began talking, she had fun first pointing to familiar objects and later naming what the bunnies were doing in the playground. Now, at 2, she loves counting the bunnies on each page as "one more" enters the playground. A fun game is to ask her to find the new bunny that was added. This has been a fun book and a really versatile teaching tool.
Incredibly Detailed
This is a wonderful and highly underrated children's book and should be a classic in any parent's library. The writing and illustrations are incredibly detailed and every time I read the book I discover something new. It is a shame that the author / illustrator have not create many more books together.
This book has become a standard gift that my wife and I give to all new parents, and I highly recommend it.
Precious!
My daughter loves this wonderful counting book! She almost sings through the pages. The illustrations are lovely and the story is fun.

An original and highly recommended little tale!
Living in the old western town of Ravenous Gulch, Bullfrog gets hungry (very, very hungry!) and goest on an eating binge that leaves a lot of people very upset with him! As Bullfrog's appetite and waistline expand he makes a mess of the town. The townsfolk call upon the sheriff who decides to take matters in hand. Chris McAllister's artwork is a perfect complement to each page in Rick Walton's novel and highly recommended little tale, and the pages end as a cliff hangers with a radically different meaning shown on the next page.
Jump at the opportunity to read this book aloud!
I am a children's storyteller, at my last reading, the children chose this book because of the front cover, and loved it all the way through the back cover. The Illustrations command a smile, and the story is great to perform (imitate a bullfrog if you can, kids love it!) this is my favorite of Rick Walton's books. The story has a wonderful chase atmosphere, a 'froggy' version of the "Gingerbread Man." The kids loved the names the Bullfrog was being called as he was gobbling up everything in site: 'Pickle-Skinned Pizza Theif,' 'Canyon-Mouthed Fruit Catcher,' 'Loaf-Liftin Cousin to a Grasshopper.' I read a lot of stories to children...this one was a joy.

great book for teaching addition. the examples are really cute pictures of a mother rabbit and her babies . Each number is displayed large and kids can pick up the rhyme easily.
One More Bunny
This counting story is so full of rich details in words, concepts and pictures. I am a teacher who has read it to many classes, and each new group of children find different details which fascinate them! It reaches so many different stages in developing number awareness, from counting the 10 ants on the last page to finding the bunny introduced on the page preceding. It is a simple concept but not simple in its design for teaching numeracy. It is visually stunning, drawing children deep into learning without their even knowing it!

Kids receive a subtle lesson in word play and animal names
Language play is presented in Herd of Cows! Flock of Sheep!, a fun storybook which tells of a farmer who brings in his crop before a rainstorm and then settles down for a night of calm sleep. When he faces danger, the entire barnyard tries to awaken him to trouble - but he refuses to awaken to face the danger. Kids receive a subtle lesson in word play and animal names as they enjoy the zany story of a farmer who just won't listen to reason (or noise!).

How can you dance when/there's something in your way?/Dance like a crab/on a sunny day. Side-step-side, look around.... Rick Walton and Ana Lopez-Escriva have authored a marvelous picture book that will have kids up and moving and imaginations soaring. Each two page spread asks a how can you dance question in lilting rhyming text and then helps youngsters begin their own dance with helpful instructions and bold, expressive artwork. This is a terrific book for pre-schoolers full of energy and the movement ideas suggested are just the tip of the iceberg. Young children will be creating their own dances in no time. So find out how you can dance with a stick in your hand, or when one foot is sore or even when you're mad as a bee and have fun.

MY KIDS LOVED THIS BOOK
Rick Walton has done a fabulous job of capturing and maintaining a child's attention in this book How Many How Many How Many. The rhyming of words throughout the book makes it catchy for a preschooler and even younger--- my 2 year old loved it as well. It helps children learn numbers in a fun way. This is a keeper for any home library where preschoolers reside.

One Really Great Dog.....
As our young narrator tells us at the beginning, "I've got a dog." And with that one little sentence, this proud owner is off and running, as he describes his wonderful pet in detail. He's a red dog, a big red dog and he's happy and muddy and smart. He's bouncy and slobbery and sometimes very sneaky. And he's stinky, "the most stinky dog I've ever met!" But most of all, we're told on the last page, "That's him!/That's my dog!/Isn't he a great dog!"..... Using color, changing type sizes, creative spacing, motion and energy, Rick Walton and Julia Gorton have authored an innovative and inventive little book about adjectives. The simple text builds on itself with each page turn until it practically explodes off the page, and is complemented by Ms Gorton's bold and expressive artwork as she uses the descriptive language to draw boy and dog. Perfect for pre-schoolers and emerging readers, That's My Dog is a little treasure of a book and a story kids will want to enjoy again and again.

great poetry book for children
I am an educator and used this book while studying "bugs" with second graders. They couldn't get enough of it. I was constantly having to "fish" it out of someone's desk because another student wished to read it.

One that I'll keep with other treasures from baby-time
This large size book captivates with detailed, gloriously colored illustrations and a story my children love. Mama Bunny puts each of her 26 children to bed, each baby bunny named with a successive letter of the alphabet and corresponding number "1 was named Abel, he slept on the table. 2 was named Blair, she slept on the chair". My children have memorized the book and can "read" it with me -- it has helped me teach them numbers beyond 10 as well. My kids giggle with delight when I incorporate their names in the book and make up silly rhymes to go with it. This book will definitely go in my keepsake chest among our most precious memories of these early years.
Educational and Fun!
I love this book. I teach kindergarten in a public school and this book is a must read. The book reviews letters, numbers to 26, and rhyming words. Learning to identify words that rhyme are difficult for many kindergartners, but this book makes it easy, and fun. The flow of the language makes it natural for the kids to choral read with me. The pictures are wonderful, too. Definitely not too "cutesy" for the kindergarten set.
Put This In Somebody's Easter Basket
This is such a clever, well-illustrated picture book that teaches counting, ABCs and rhyming in a delightful,warm-hearted way. Using the familiar foundation of the old nursey rhyme about the old woman in the shoe, this story tells us about Old Mother Rabbit who has 26 children and knows just what to do. She gives them some carrots and broth and some bread and kisses them gently and puts them to bed. The bunnies all have special places to sleep and this book has a lot of charming stimulating pictures for little ones to explore as they're learning to count and say the ABCs. It's so cute and well done and little pre-schoolers are sure to enjoy it. Since most little ones like to have their stories read over and over, parents will welcome this book's detailed pictures and clever rhymes that make the book as fun to read aloud as it is to hear it read.
