Quack, Honk, Oink... SPLASH!
Neligan's pig doesn't swim... or does she? Find out in this delightful tale of a pig on a hot summer's day. The illustrations carry this simple story and the pig's discomfort is so genuine, I can't help but long for a paddle in a cool pool myself. It is also entertaining to see the outraged pond dwellers and their barnyard gossip chain portrayed... and the ending in which the tattle-tales join in the fun.

My two-year-old loves this story and it would also make good reading for the pre-school and primary child.

A rip roaring tale of a hot summer day!
Waddell captures the feeling of a hot afternoon in his humerous story "Pig in a Pond." While watching the ducks splash in the farm yard pond, the pig becomes more and more hot, more and more furstrated, because who ever heard of a "Pig in a Pond"? Finally, he give into temptation and dives in! When the farmer sees this, he decides its not a bad idea and joins the animals on his farm for a spash in the old swimming hole! A delight ful story perfect for reading alod on a sticky summer afternoon

a lovely story with charming illustrations
This is a delightful story for reading aloud or for a beginning reader. My daughter has read it countless times, and loves the fact that it is such a small book that she can put it in her pocket and take it wherever she goes. She delights in examining the pictures for every little detail. We love Martin Waddell and enjoy all his books.

Truly a remarkable book that my children cherish.
This book is a true masterpiece, delightful in every respect as are all of Virginia Austins childrens books. Not only are the illustrations exceptional but the story is complete and the lessons are easily understood and digested by young minds.

Hedgehogs Inspire Daily Drumming
Inspired by Harry's enthusiastic drumming and his band's musical merryment, my seventeen-month-old son and I now daily pound out joyous tunes on a collection of old coffee cans and wooden spoons. The repetitive tum-tum-te-tum and diddle-diddle-dum of the hedgehogs' drums moves us to dance, hum, and drum in different ways at every reading. My son loves to match the soothingly rendered animals to their contributed sounds as I ask "Who says 'Pweee', 'chkka chkka', or 'pop pop'?" And what toddler can resist accompanying the resounding BOOM! that ends this tale with his own whack on the can!

This is the Perfect Baby Book
This book is perfect for your baby's memories. Not only are the Baby Bear pictures cute but the book is just the right size. It has just the perfect number of pages and just the right questions to make it a great baby book. There is not so much to write down that you will never finish. It is even better for the second or third baby.

I highly recommend this book for anyone wanting a great scrapbook for keeping memories of their new baby.

Such a nice book!
Now I have to admit one of the main reasons I bought this book is I have a five year old named Joe. Also that I love Martine Waddell's books and Panny Dale's illustrations. And I wasn't disappointed one bit. The story is so nice and shows how a family is so cosy together. The game Mom and Joe play is so imaginative. I highly recommend this book!

wonderful good-night-story
This book has been my favourite good night story since I first saw it7 years ago. The drawings are very cute and make the little bear comealive when he plays around his bed. Big Bear stays patient and in the end gives Little Bear a great present: the wonderful lights of the stars and he moon. Feeling all safe in Big Bears arm Little Bear can finally go to sleep happily. END

The funniest book I've ever read.
I read Otley Victorious twenty years ago. I don't think I have ever enjoyed a book so much.

I later read the original Otley, which was not as good.

I wish all of the Otley books were back in print.

My kids loved this book, and so did I!
As a child daycare provider, I am always looking for great kids books. This one has it all! The pictures are just the right amount of spooky, and the antics of "Loopy, Little Gee and me- all three" are sure to delight your little ones. A book my kids want to hear again and again.

Sam Vole
What young child doesn't want to do things for herself? (Phrase most frequently uttered by my daughter-- "I do it!!!") Sam is aching to vole by himself, but his big brothers keep tagging along (keeping an eye on him). So Sam sets out on an early morning adventure while everyone else is still sleeping... This may be my favorite Waddell and Firth creation, but then again it's SO hard to choose among the many excellent books they have created! I hope the book is reprinted, and soon!
