thorough review of emergency medicine
detailed review of emergency thou suffers from a lack of information on certain key areas.can be verbose at times thou is a generally a good read

An excellent text, even for inquisitive Paramedics!
The book comes in 3 hardback volumes, well worth the price. I am a practicing Paramedic with a desire to know more about the how's and why's of patient care. The book is well organized, with a reading level of college sophomore. The section on resucitation takes ACLS just a little bit further. I consider this book recommended reading for Paramedics who want to stay on top

Almost but not quite
This book by Dr. Pry serves as an important reminder that nuclear weapons are still a major problem for the forseeable future. The end of the Cold War has lulled many to sleep feeling that nuclear weapons, or the possibility of global thermonuclear war ended in 1991. This book reminds us that others see the world differerntly from ourselves. It raises the issue that if a major power feels insecure that is bad news for everyone. The strength of the book lies in its raising this nuclear debate once again. Some of the interpretations about Russian activites concerning nuclear weapons (third generation) border on the speculative and serve only to create a sense of panic that one associates with the 1980's Committeee for the Present Danger. However, even if one disagrees or is uneasy with some of the argument in Dr. Pry's book one is faced with the undeniable reality that nuclear weapons are still a major problem for international relations and the future of the planet. If this book serves to serve notice to the world to wake up and to rejoin the debate about this important topic then it has accomplished a great thing indeed.

An absolute must read!
It is a great pity that, unfortunately, it is to the choir that Peter Pry preaches. His current work, WAR SCARE, follows in the footsteps of his earlier works on the Israeli nuclear program and the strategic nuclear balance of the Cold War. All are meticulously researched and written. Those who don't want to hear the message won't read the book. However, those who yearn to know how dangererous the Cold War was, and how dangerous the current international environment is, will read the book.

WAR SCARE details how close the world came to nuclear annhilation in the early 1980s and over and over again well into the Clinton Administration. The details of WAR SCARE, when coupled with the findings of the Cox Committee's report on Communist Chinese nuclear espionage, lead one to seriously question who the Clinton Administration serves, the American people, or themselves, or, more ominously, someone else.

WAR SCARE ought to be in the required reading list of all American History/Government/Civics classes.

WAR SCARE - Politically Incorrect Warning
WAR SCARE is one of those rare books that should be required reading for every student and adult in America because of its historic and strategic importance. If you have not read WAR SCARE you probably have an inadequate understanding of the significance of Russian geopolitical power or its imminent threat to the United States. It is not only well written and engaging, it is also written by someone who has the background to know what he is talking about - Peter Vincent Pry - a former CIA Agent who has the background and experience to tell the story as it should be told. The most frightening thing about WAR SCARE is not necessarily that the Russians are indeed preparing to destroy the United States in a nuclear holocaust, but that current politically correct globalist thought in Washington is actually actively assisting them in the process. The most astonishing thing about WAR SCARE is its stark truth - not even whispered by the mainstream media. If this book is true - it spells out the last chapter of America written by someone with inside information. It tells the shameful story of a nation actively disarming itself while another nation aggressively prepares to destroy it. While most would dismiss the book as conspiratorial nonsense, not one will be able to deny or easily explain away the truth that many insiders in Washington not only have personal fallout shelters, but have evacuated their families in times of crisis in the recent past. Meanwhile, the Civil Defense program of the rest of America has been dismantled, leaving the populace without personal recourse. The ultimate irony in that truth is the book's relative obscurity. While it should be read in the halls of Congress and in the open square, it is lying dormant and Mr. Pry's voice unheard. In the end, historians may find in its pages the clear and unambiguous warning that fell on deaf ears.

Good Reference
This book is highly useful for use as a reference to the style, complexities, and the method of Tan's writing. I found it especially useful after completeling three of Tan's novels and having to present to a classroom, the style, symbols, characteristics in which Tan uses.

360 Degree Selling-Is An Outstanding Book!
The book 360 Degree Selling covers two of the most important areas in the selling of biotechnology products, use of clinical trial data, and disease state information. This information is exactly what today's physicians most want from pharmaceutical sales people. Additionally, the book has great information on relationship selling and physician personality styles, and a very extensive section on territory management. I highly recommend this book to anyone in pharmaceutical sales, I know it has helped me to be more effective in my sales presentations.

Selling Biotech Products in Today's Market
360 Degree Selling-How to Sell Biotechnology Products is one of the best books of its kind. With 24 pages of selling, using clinical reprints, it supplies the representative with crucial ways to use third party selling. Furthermore, it shows how the representative can best utilize his/her Time & Territory Management and Routing techniques. Last, but not least, it teaches the importance of maintaining physician contacts and using phyician personality and prescribing profiles to tailor presentations to individual physician's wants and needs.

360 Degree Selling-How To Sell Biotechnology Products
Great book! My company recently purchased this book for our entire specialty sales force. I have followed the principles and techniques outlined in the book, and I can see a difference in my relationships with my physicians. This book concentrates very heavily on relationship selling, and the publisher provides a free 360 Degree Relationship Selling Strategy report from their website. It is really great, I don't know of any other selling book that provides this type of service, it's like getting the book for free. I am recommending that my company purchase this service for our sales force. Thank you Black Dog!

Times' Film Reviews
The book is really a compilation of reviews by NY Times film critics of what they feel are the 1000 best movies ever made. The films inclusions were based on not only quality, but on inventiveness and influence. The films are not ranked, but merely presented in alphabetical order. The real interest of the book is that the reviews are reprints from their actual newspaper appearances. You get the first impressions of the reviewers and they are not diluted by the hindsight that you get in other film review compilations. Vincent Canby practically invented the role of the film critic and to read his reviews are a real treat. Even with 1000 movies, there are some omissions like Jaws, but overall, the book is an interesting read for anyone who is a film buff.

Great gift idea!
If you have any film buffs on your Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa shopping list, buy them this book and wait for the gratitude. Of course no one's going to agree on every movie included, and everyone's going to be angered by some omissions... But that's what makes this book so much fun. Film buffs (like me) love getting all riled up over these kinds of things.

But the reason this book is really essential is that, rather than explaining why each included film is great or "important", the editors chose to include the original reviews printed in the Times when the films were released. Seeing how some of these classics were reviewed in their own time is a real kick. Some, like "Casablanca", were rightfully praised. But check out the scathing review of "Dr. Strangelove", which was clearly ahead of its time.

Of course there will never be a definitive list of 1,000 best movies, but a book like this is really more of a jumping off point for discussion. Personally, I admire a list that's willing to put well-made genre flicks like "Nightmare on Elm Street" alongside classy Hollywood landmarks like "Sunset Boulevard". Not everyone will agree. But they'll definitely enjoy the debate.

well worth owning
Give the Times credit for having the guts to reprint the original reviews. Several films that are regarded as classic today, such as "Psycho", received lukewarm responses in their original release. Most other music and movie review guides (The Rolling Stone guide for one) overlook their past 'mistakes'. Because the reviews were written at the movies' release, they rarely suffer from the stale air of reverence given to classic films.

The length of the reviews is perfect. Longer than the 3 or 4 sentence plot summaries of most guides, they give the reader a better sense of the character of the film, while still remaining short enough to peruse the book before going to the video store.

I recommend a Maltin guide to begin with, since it covers more films. I think this would be a fine second film guide.
