Great Book!!!!
This book is a great faith-building story about the famous biblical Jonah. It has a great moral, the characters are well-described, and the fast-pacedness makes it an easy read for anyone. I recommend this book to preteens, teens and adults everywhere(especially Christians).
How would you feel living inside a whale??
This a great book for readers of all ages. Takes you on an exciting, in-depth journay of the struggles of Jonah and his journy inside the belly of a whale.

Could It Have Happened?
This book will really make you wonder. Because it is Ancient Historical Fiction the author used not only the verses from the Bible but myth, legend, and what is known about that period of history to come up with a plausible story about this famous man who saved himself and his family from a terrible flood in obedience to God. What is amazing is that this book was written in 1985 but many of the issues it raises are things we are dealing with now for the first time in our known history. This also gives us a hint as to what Jesus meant in Matthew 24:37 when he said "But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be." When you read this you will wonder again and again... could this have been the way it happened and will it happen again? Everyone that I know who has read it has recommended it to a friend.
Could be?
From the very first page, I completely enjoyed this book. Ms. Traylor warned you from the very beginning how she went about putting this book together. She brought the Bible, ancient myths & legends, and research, among other things together for it. Not only was the book just fascinating reading, it makes you go; "HHMMMM. Could this be close to true?" She did not contradict anything that the Bible says, (she never does) what she did is thoughtfully and delightfully filled in a picture. This is one book that should be passed around, it is that enjoyable for reading.
If you like a good fiction that makes you wonder about possibilities, get this one.

Opens your eyes to modern day happening's
This was a good book. Goes in to depth about the Jewish movement to rebuild the temple. Keeps you on the end of your seat for most of the book. Ending was a bit disappointing.
Great Read!
Unravels right up to the end. Could even be prophetic
Impressive and engaging
How I hope there will be a sequel! The characterization and plot were both superb. Usually when I see that a book involves archaeology I imagine it will have some long, boring sequences, but that is not the case here. This is more a story of a people. It creates a bridge between Jews and Christians, and does a great deal to promote understanding. I was surprised to note only a couple other reader reviews, because this is such a great book! I recommend it wholeheartedly with a guarantee that you won't be bored a bit! If anyone is aware of a sequel forthcoming, please Email me!

Amazing Apocalyptic Fantasy, What Next? Coulda Been Better!
Small groups of dedicated Jewish traditionalists are even now working toward the possible rebuilding of the ancient temple in Jerusalem and the restoration of traditional sacrifical worship. They are busily reconstructing temple artifacts, musical instruments and priestly vestments, and they are training young men to become future priests. Of course this would become an explosive issue in Jewish-Muslim relations, politically almost unthinkable. In Traylor's novel, this core of reality is extrapolated into an amazing fantasy. Zachary Cohen has been identified as the one living person qualified to be the new High Priest. Certain ancient relics must be found, however, before he can actually be installed to the High Priesthood--such as the ephod or breastplate, the ashes of the red heifer, and the mysterious urim and thummim--the oracle of biblical times. Somehow all these relics have survived, hidden mysteriously in various far-flung points and the adventurers of the novel set out on a fast-paced search for them.
This could have made a great tale, but there are some serious drawbacks. Most of the characters are one-sided and not that believable. The adventurers never encounter any real danger. Everything turns out as they would have desired and much too easily. And Mr. Cohen, the designated High Priest, turns out to be a believer in Jesus, a Messianic Jew. Which, oddly enough, turns out to be a fairly minor problem. The author has injected into the story her own religious belief/aspiration/wish that the Jewish nation is about to accept Christ as its savior, not to mention the fact that the royal house of Jordan is going to assist and that friendship is about to break out all over. Just too many unbelievable things happening too fast, and credulity is stretched to the limit and beyond.
The book is poorly edited, with awkward dialogue, and with phrases such as "fair-complected," "elderly gents," "yuppie-looking" and "sneerd." The author spins an interesting yarn and it's not hard to read, but it could have been so much better done.

Wonderful Bridge Work
...The price was right--the title catchy--the editorial comment inticing--so I bought it, and now I have to get "The Priest" to find out how everything got started. Ms. Traylor's writing style is similar to LaHaye and Jenkins in the Left Behind series. It is easy to follow, detailed without being tedious, and very visual. The bridge between Christianity and Judiasm is wonderfully constructed and offers totally convincing scenarios for each exciting discovery. I heartily recommend this book, especially to those who have enjoyed works by Peretti and LaHaye/Jenkins.
