Imaginary travels
Astounding, awesome, fantastic, incredible... there are only some of the adjectives that occurs to you while you see this book. Ruth Thorne-Thomsen is without doubt one of the best contemporary photographers, her imaginary landscapes don't have equal. If you like the millenarian ruins... imaginary landscapes... the disturbing beauty... the dreamed photographies...this is your book.

Again, one of the best photographers of the history. Few photographers can make feel the some Ruth makes you feel. An incomparable photographer. An incomparable book

Great, detailed information, with excellent pictures
Horler's Original Sprite and Midget has to be the most thorough, in-depth look at these great little sports cars. I read and enjoyed the book before I owned my Sprite. Now that I am restoring one, the book is even more valuable to me.

If you are looking for a book that tells the history and folklore of the Sprite, this may not be your book. (Though Horler's brief history is very well written.)

A must for the committed Sprite or Midget owner.
This book covers virtually everything you will want to know about how your Sprite or Midget was made. Painstakingly researched and endlessly detailed. I refer to my copy constantly.

Excellent source of information for restoration
The complete original series on postwar classic cars are all excellent sources of information. The complete original sprite and midget is full of pictures of correct, original cars. The book also lists of production color and interior options as well as production changes by VIN and engine number.

Please note the book is not a maintanence manual or marque history, but great for production/originality infomation for the restorer or hobbyist fan of these cars.

motivating the cash potato to painlessly save and invest
Meany's quick read shows the cash potato how to find money--even when you think there's none left over--and snag it and make it grow! Down-to-earth, funny, practical, and SIMPLE ("quick and painless," he keeps hammering), the book is well laid-out and well indexed. Even *you* have time to read this book!

This is a good starter book for the uninitiated

It's the perfect book for people like me, a single mom in a secure job with some apprehension about having enough for retirement, with no idea about investing. It would also be a good book for a budding capitalist just starting his or her first job or young marrieds who wanted to get on track before they invested all their hard-earned on Williams-Sonoma's color-of-the-month Cuisinart. The book has neatly packaged chapters which you can skip around in. Though if you don't skip, the chapters keep building on previous ones so you have a sense in a nicely structured way of what this whole money mystery encompasses, in level of importance. I was mostly interested in investing, though there's lots of other information that makes it possible to have something to invest after you've cut expenses and made a will and made sure your insurance is right (well, OK, I didn't read that chapter yet).

I liked the specific examples of, say, discount brokers and internet sites for further research. At the end I didn't feel like I had to be a broker to play with the big kids. So I can read the bidness news now and cross-reference anything I don't understand with Meany's book and impress my kids with my astute planning for their inheritance. The writing has a calming effect, partly because of the humor and partly because of the simplicity with which this arcane knowledge is presented. What I like about all Meany's books is that they teach you to take a deep breath, and then get on with the business at hand.

This stuff really works!!
Just reviewed it today!! Having followed Meany's money advice for the past twenty two years, he's helped me to acquire a 6-figure portfolio, send a kid to college, acquire five different properties (sold three), and manage gifts from my parents' estate. I'm his wife and it works for me!!!

Good FAntasy
This is a great book for all sci-fi fans. The characters are as real as humans, and the story is very engaging. I picked this book up by chance at the library and thoroughly enjoyed it. It is very entertaining.

A Definite Keeper!
Out of the hundreds and hundreds of books I have owned, very few books make it to my 'keepers' shelf. Elsewhere is one of the few. It is absolutely one of the best collections of fantasy I have ever read and I reread it over and over again.

Particular favorites of mine are Pooka's Bridge by Gillian FitzGerald; The Judgement of St. Yves by Evangeline Walton, Sweetly the Waves Call to Me by Pat Murphy; and The Tree's Wife by Janet Yolen.

I can not say enough about this collection. Every year or so I make a vow to get rid of all my clutter and donate all my books to the thrift store. For Elsewhere to survive these numerous purges again and again is the highest compliment I can pay to it.

Marvelous
I love great writing, folktales, fairy tales, and mythology. This collection mixes all these elements up for some fascinating reading. If you like Terri Windling and Ellen Datlow's fairy tale retelling anthology series, you'll love this book, too. There are at least two more books in the series, and I can't wait to dive into them!

Very compelling stories
This tape is well done. The sound effects create an atmosphere that draws in the listener. The actors are dramatic, but not overly so. The short stories themselves are well written, delivering edge-of-the-chair suspense (or knee-slapping comedy, as the case may be).

It's finally here....and worth the wait!
As most net surfers are aware the Sci-Fi Channel's web site has included a section devoted to science fiction radio drama...Seeing Ear Theatre. One aspect of which includes originally produced productions cerated especially for the site and which has featured performances by many well-known SF actors as Micheal O'Hare,Mark Hamill,Marina Sirtis, and others. With a few exceptions, a lot of the dramas are based on recent short stories by SF writers such as Terry Bisson, Allen Steele, John Kessel and Gergory Benford. With the release of this audiobook editon(which includes introductions by SF's resident angry young{sic}man Harlan Ellison)now one can listen to these stories anytime you want. The best stories(IMO)are the Three Odd Comedies and The Death of Captain Future (which despite the pulpish-sounding title is a darkly humorous tale set in the future history of Steele's previous works such as Orbital Decay and Clarke County,Space). If you like audio drama-- especially newly produced audio drama...you'll love this collection and you may also want to check out Vol. 2 which should be on sale soon(I know I can't wait).

Into the Sun!
WOW what a story! Brian Smith could sell this as a short story by itself it is so good IMO. I just wish they sold a hard copy of these writings--not just audio! I have been reading Sci Fi for a long time. This guy is great! Reminds me of 2001, a space odyssey a bit. Worth the price just for this one folks! I noticed there are no other books by Brian Smith for sale on Amazon. What's up with that? He needs to write books, and Amazon needs to sell them--geez, do I make myself clear?

Should be titled Un-holy Sex
I was greatly disappointed in this book. It could be because the hype I heard about it stated that it was a book that showed God's plan for sex. I thought the book was about a passionate, uplifting, holy sexual union between a husband and wife. I wanted to get as much information on that as possible, both to bring to my relationship as well as pass on that information to my daughters when they are of age.

Although the first few chapters did discuss a God ordained plan for sex, the balance of the book was focused on sexual perversions and deviations. I learned enough about sexual perversions and deviations in my college Human Sexuality class and am not interested in increasing my knowledge in those areas.

I'm not saying that a book of this type is not a valuable tool, if that is what your looking for, but I do think the publicity and description should be more honest about the focus of this book. The book's focus is definately un-holy sex not holy sex.

A Comprehensive Study of God's Plan with Sexuality
I bought this book as part of a study of God's plan for our sexuality. I was impressed by the views of the author, who not only stresses the Biblical side but also look at medical/physical and emotional sides of human sexuality. This is a holistic view which every Christian needs, whether as a personal guide, as part of training in counselling or to come to grips with his/her own sexuality.

Recommended for clergy, parents, teens and young adults.
In Holy Sex, author Terry Wier examines the root problems and consequences of misdirected sexual behavior. Conceding that regular church attendance has some positive bearing on sexual activities, Wier maintains that Christian teens are having premarital sex at record numbers. He also cites statistics which show nearly half of all abortions in the U.S. are by women from pro-life churches. Weir believes the most widespread and troublesome issues facing the Christian Church today (clergy and parishioners alike) are sexual in nature: adultery, divorce, premarital sex, pornography, and homosexuality. Wier blasts the fallacy of "safe sex" and ultimately advocates that there are laws governing sexual behavior which he calls "The Laws of Sexual Union". These are natural laws that determine the physical, social, and spiritual consequences of our physical, sexual actions. Wier believes the physical act of sexual intercourse affects us in spirit, soul, and body -- an idea that is all too seldom taught in churches today, and never heard in secular circles. Holy Sex is highly recommended reading for clergy, parishioners, parents, as well as Christian teens and young adults.

Growing Herbs and Vegetables from Seed to Harvest
I read this book and I use it as a reference for my job. I am a horticulture Specialist with Lincoln University Cooperative Extension. I received some great tips like cutting the seedlings of onions and scallions in half after three weeks of growth to help them come back stronger. The pictures and tips are wonderful. The passion that the authors have for gardening definitely show through in this book. This book is great for the beginner as well as the advanced gardener.

A worthy extension of the first Kovels pottery book.
The authors of this book have been writing it for almost 50 years. It is not a replacement for their "Kovels' Dictionary of Marks: Pottery and Porcelain", which was first published in 1953 and is still in print. This book is an addition to the first book, having about 10% of the marks shown in the first book because of new information or for completeness. The other marks are newer and not shown in the old book. There are two sections of marks, the first section is marks that look like objects and the second is alphabetical by initials and words. There is also a section called: "Some Additional Information". It has a glossary of terms, dating systems, foreign words commonly used in the marks, fakes and forgeries, a list of "Selected Reading", and an index. This book alone is not enough for accomplished collectors, but is excellent for beginners and used in combination with the first book (as the authors apparently intended) will cover a large percentage of the "Pottery and Porcelain" marks.

I Use It Constantly!
This is the book I refer to first when I get a new piece of porcelain. 90% of the time I find the mark in this book. U.S. Marks are not as well represented, however I do get some good information about the marks I do find.

I like the way the book is organized. You can look in the index if you know a name. This leads you to locations in the book where this name is listed. Or you can search by the shape, design, or letters used in the mark.

I am a beginner and I still found this book to be very helpful in my research.

My only request for an updated version is to include more U.S. Marks. The U.S. Pottery and Porcelain markets are getting very hot and it would be helpful to be able to quickly identify them.

Great book for serious collectors
Whether you collect McCoy, Hull, or Royal Doulton, you will find information about the marks on your pottery and porcelain here. Well designed, well written, loaded with examples, and even some histories of manufacturers. Great all around reference.

X-Men: Twilight of the Age of Apocalypse

An okay ending to a good epic
This TPB concludes the Age of Apocalypse arc. It collects X-Men: Omega, X-Universe #1 & 2. Two decades ago, Charles Xavier's son, Legion, travelled back in time with the purpose of killing Magneto, to make the present day easier for his dad. But then things went horribly wrong and he accidentally killed the young Charles Xavier. What followed was an alternate timeline: Hell on earth. Apocalypse wouldn't get any resistance from the X-Men and so he ended up ruling the US - with the rest of the world in his future agenda.

But the time-lost mutant Bishop can prevent this. The X-Men have acquired a piece of the M'Kraan crystal to change the world by sending Bishop back in time to prevent the murder. In the mean time, the X-Men have to fight off Apocalypse and the servants under his command.

This one is kinda like Dawn of the Age of Apocalypse. All the known characters from the separate books get together and finish the story off. It's a pretty good ending, but it could've been better. And I question the moral lesson in this one. They just get rid of the troublemaker right away, who was just a victim of bad parenting. The art is good and some parts are kinda funny. Basically, there is alot of action in this one.

These stories won't mean much if you haven't read this AoA storyline from the start. If you get this, I recommend you get all the other AoA TPBs too. For a complete reading list of it, see my X-Men: LegionQuest review.

This book also contains X-Universe #1 & 2, which features the other non-X Marvel characters in this altered timeline. But I didn't find it very good nor compelling enough at all.

The conclusion to the Age of Apocalypse
Twilight of the Age of Apocalypse collects the two issue X-Universe mini-series and the one shot swan song of the AoA storyline X-Men: Omega. X-Men: Omega is the main highlight here, as we see Magneto and his remaining X-Men taking one last shot at Apocalypse and crew as the world around them begins to end. While the story is action packed from panel to panel, it does leave something to be desired; especially to those readers (like myself) who thoroughly enjoyed the AoA storyline which went down as one of the most underrated storylines in X-Men history. The battle with Magneto and young Nate Grey (X-Man) taking on Apocalypse and Holocaust is worth the price of admission alone. The X-Universe storyline isn't anything special really, it just serves it's purpose by showing the readers what happened to other Marvel Comics icons in this alternate timeline. We see Sue Storm and Ben Grimm having never been members of the Fantastic Four. We see Donald Blake having never found the mystic hammer Mjolnir which turned him into the Mighty Thor. We see Tony Stark without ever donning the suit to turn him into Iron Man, and we also see Gwen Stacy who never met her doom as Peter Parker's first true love. That storyline is interesting, but X-Men: Omega is worth getting this for alone. All in all, if you liked the AoA storyline as much as I did, then this is an essential volume in your library.

X-MEN OMEGA makes up for X-universe
I completly disagree with those who say that the age of apocalypse story line was mediocre at best, they probably haven't read the darn thing. I know, I know, X-Universe was pretty lame but X-men Omega was one helluva rollercoster, I mean the conclusion to one of the best stroy lines of decades was simple incredible. The fight between Holocaust and the young Nate Grey along with the battles between Cyclopse and his brother Havok along with Jean and Wolvie thrown into the mix, you know there's gonna be blood and lots of it. A non stop thriller, that simply has to be read in one sitting for the full effect, this will probably please newer X-fans than old, but who knows...
