binding problem
As the case with so many DK publications, the appearance is attractive and information useful but the binding is poor. The pages in my copy came loose in a short time making it a nuisance to use.

Great book for those new to guitar playing
I just recently got a guitar as a gift. I knew nothing about guitars. I picked this book up because it covered a wide range of information, from the history of guitars to recordinging your own music, and it does it with very clear descriptions and color photos. (use the look inside feature and you'll see what I mean) The guitar instruction part of the book is also very good. It doesn't overwhelm you with music theory and how to read music like most other books. It just shows you some basic cords and gets you strumming. Overall, a great book for those new to playing guitar.

Excellent!
The information was great for me as a beginner although I didn't understand the music theory section. (i believe it's just me on that though). however, the pages are slowly coming out one-by-one after only 2 months of usage.

Enjoyable, but missing the involvement of Andy himself
Given that Andy Griffith is a private person with seemingly little interest in talking about himself or his career, this book met my expectations. The author did what he could to gather information about Andy in spite of Andy's apparent unwillingness to participate in the creation of this biography. His absence is a handicap, certainly, as I'm sure he could lend some depth to the anecdotes and old interviews. I was pleased to see that the author made an effort to avoid making this book another Mayberry-themed puff piece, though, and was glad to be reading about Andy Griffith instead of Andy Taylor.

The reader should also be aware that The Andy Griffith Story was published prior to the end of Matlock, and before several other key events in Andy Griffith's life. Illustrations are rather disappointing hand-drawings because, I presume, photo rights could not be obtained. Though I did enjoy this book, I am still hoping for an authorized - or, at least, more authoritative - biography to complete the portrait of Andy.

A nice biography of Andy Griffith's life!
I just finished reading the biography on Andy Griffith and as a fan of this man I was pleased to learn about how he got started in show biz and all the movies he was involved in post Andy Griffith Show. I was surprised to hear about his temper but pleased to hear he is a thoughtful and caring man. If you want a biography that covers Mr. Griffith's whole career I would recommend you buy this book.

Stuff About Andy I Never Knew ....
The test of any good bio is learning something new about the subject. Information about Andy Griffith isn't easy to come by, but in this instance, the author has succeeded in collecting quotes, facts, and events from private sources and turning it into a readable narrative that illuminates the subject while respecting the privacy of the man. I bought two copies: one for my mom as a gift, and one for me. If you have ANY interest in the life and career of Andy, you'll want to add your own copy to your library too.

Farmer ain't naked
Philip Jose Farmer makes an excelent job as always. Farmer known primarily for his Science Fiction, but has produced two Fantasy series World of Tiers and Riverworld, the latter an afterlife fantasy in the tradition of John Kendrick Bangs. Farmer words flow as easy as ever and this novel is a work of art. It aint as sexy or shocking as 'An exorcism: ritual one/two' or as deeply involving as 'The river world saga', but he builds his story up as the SF/horror/fantasy master he is. God fun, and with a nice climax as always.

Queen Ann in Oz
Published in Hardcover by Wonder Publishing (1993)
Authors: Bill Campbell, Karyl Carlson, and Terry Irwin
Amazon base price: $44.95

A grand return for an Oz anti-hero
L. Frank Baum introduced the world to Queen Ann Soforth in his novel TIKTOK OF OZ where, bored of ruling her insignificant land of Oogaboo, she decides to raise an army and conquer the whole world. At that time, Tiktok and the Shaggy man of Oz prevent her from getting into too much trouble and help her safely back to Oogaboo. This time she leaves Oogaboo to find her missing parents whose mysterious disappearance had put the teenager on the throne. The Shaggy Man and Tiktok help her in the search. Along the way, Ann and the Oogaboo youths who volunteer to come with her have a lot of fun and learn some important lessons about relationships. Although they go through some interesting places in Oz, this book deals more with interpersonal relationships than wacky adventures in curious places. It is not one of the best Oz books. The artwork is basic. Although the characters are well developed, Oz just doesn't seem as magical in this story. On the positive side, the author tells not only the hidden history of Oogaboo, but also reveals some of the mystery of the Shaggy Man's past. It is a good book for children and a great addition to the reading list of die-hard Oz-ophiles.

Excellent Addition to the World of Oz
This is a great book, a nice exploration of a part of Oz Baum didn't visit much, and a fun story for all ages. Oz fans will get a kick out of it.

Two Words
BO-RINGGGGGGGGG...when is someone going to write a good foreign language text book that gives the students interesting stories in addition to verbs and grammar. How about a story about Mariachi bank robbers who hold a small Mexican town captive while their leader (we can call him El Loco Uno) holds the mayor's daughter captive. After a band of rebels (these are good rebels not bad ones) catch word, they quickly dispurse to the village, where they find El Loco Uno holding Marietta (the mayor's daughter) at knifepoint. The leader of the band of rebels, Rico, throws his lassoo out but misses, and instead catches Mariettas poodle, who is barking nearby. This is key later in the story. So now El Loco Uno is angry, and he sends his men after the rebels. They engage in bloody war for a long time. Finally, after many men have died, Rico sees El Loco Uno eating a sandwich. Rico sneaks up behind him and tries to strangle him, but El Loco Uno picks up his fork and stabs Rico in the neck. Rico stumbles backward, struck with pain, and El Loco Uno kicks him in the groin. Rico falls down, and El Loco Uno pulls out his knife, ready to finish Rico. Desperate, Rico searches for a weapon, but instead finds a small ball of fur. In a last ditch attempt to save himself, he picks up this ball of fur, which happens to be muffin, Marietta's dog, and hurles it at El Loco Uno. Now ordinarily muffin would be frightened, but what El Loco Uno doesnt know is that a piece of turkey is stuck to his lower lip, and muffin is very hungry. Anyway, the story ends with Marietta falling madly in love with Rico. Now that would be an interesting book.

Sabias Que: Beginning Spanish Third Edition
This text is very informative. There are some pieces of cultural information about the Spanish-speaking world that give good insight into that culture. The one aspect of the book that I thought was not very useful, was the numerous group or team activities, because there are more activities than can be accomplished. (If the class time consists of three 50-minute sessions per week, and there are roughly 15 weeks per semester, the student doesn't benefit from these since most cannot be accomplished effectively due to time constraints.) If a few, rather than many, had been selected for the text, then not only could these be completed during class, but there would be more room in the text for other cultural passages.

Groundbreaking text in communicative Spanish teaching
The first edition of SQ blasted onto the market nearly 10 years ago and broke ALL the rules. It's a gutsy, interesting book that does what most other first year Spanish textbooks fail to do - gets you students using and understanding Spanish from the beginning of the school year! It is not easy to teach from Sabias que - you're going to have to work as hard as your students are, but the rewards will be amazing! This is not a teach-yourself Spanish text. It is meant for classroom use.

A lot of errors
Reading this book there are a lot of typos, which makes reading a lot harder.

There are also instances in the practice questions where the answer that are provided don't make sense according to the question.

For example in the section "Managing Client Permissions on Public Folders" the text says "The owner of a distribution list (I hope they mean public folder) or an Exchange administrator can set permissions by using the Exchange Client software" but an answer that they provide to a sample question says...."Only the Owner can modify permissions frome the client, whereas only Admin can modify permissions for the Exchange Administrator"

Good Review of Information
This book provides a good review of the information you will need to know to pass 70-81. It should NOT serve as your only point of study though. Learn the Exchange server through an ATEC or one of the excellent books available (MS Press is good, and so is Sybex). Also, remember that this test has gone adaptive! Study hard, and good luck!

The Worst Language Textbook I Ever Had
I am taking the beginner Spanish class using this textbook. The textbook is not suitable for beginner especially those who do not have any Spanish before. I speak four languages before Spanish and two of them I learned from textbooks. This textbook is waste of money and time for me. It does not explain the fine and important part of the language - grammer and structure of the language. The exercises do not help you understand unexplained grammer and structure of the language. I give it one star because of its colorful pictures.
