It tells it like it is...
As we advance into the 21st century, women and consumers of color will collectively have enough economic clout to influence mainstream advertising. The question is when and how? Sounds like a great idea for a brand...

Harrison's is essential
I have used Harrisons since the eighties. I am a Clinical Psychologist dealing with patients who often have multiple medical problems. Harrison's is a complete solution to getting up to the date medical information, not only the book and CD but also the Website. It is expensive, but if you only ever buy one medical text, this has to be the one.

The Last Hero: Wild Bill Donovan
Published in Paperback by Random House Trade Paperbacks (1984)
Author: Anthony Cave Brown
Amazon base price: $9.95
Used price: $4.25
Collectible price: $10.59
Average review score:

Comprehensive biography of father of OSS, later CIA
"Wild Bill" Donovan hails from Buffalo, N.Y.. In this extensive work of author Brown, we're provided his full story (as much as can be told, anyway) from WWII, Switzerland, the initial days at Rockefeller Center (and later, Langley), legal inception and structural formulation and dialogue with the president and military services to form the OSS, presently known as the CIA.

Exceptionally well-written (and just as exemplary, by the way, as author Brown does with Britain's analogue "C") and informative. Superb on WWII OSS operations in Europe. Author Brown explains much of what didn't already know, and fills-in wonderfully where we do.

Not short on pages, it captivates for just about every one of them.

What was the understanding then? That Hoover feared no one? You may disclose otherwise.

Good man, that Donovan. Good too, Brown, for work well done.

An Excellent Travel Companion
This guidebook by the Lonely Planet was an excellent companion on my recent trip to India. The information was up-to-date and informative, yet never too wordy or boring. The "text-box" inserts were very entertaining while at the same time useful.

This guide is perfect for those traveling on a budget or those who want to take a "first-class" trip across northern India.

The maps in the book are very useful, as is the information about how not to get ripped off as a tourist. Highly recommended to everyone (of Indian origin or not) if you are contemplating a trip to India.

Excellent Reference Book for Busy Preachers
Any preacher or teacher is aware of the value of a thought-provoking quote or a relevant story in illustrating a point, and if it happens to be a humorous one, it highlights the idea all the more. Such fitting stories and quotes are not easy to find when one is badly in need of them. Anthony Castle has not only collected them but also organized them in such a way that they can be reached fast and without any hassle. It makes this book a very valuable tool for Christian preachers and teachers.

The book was first published in United Kingdom as a sequel to 'A Treasury of Quips, Quotes & Anecdotes' in 1994. This is the newest edition of the book in the U S. This volume is divided into 150 themes, each covering a number of pithy sayings, insightful quotes and memorable anecdotes on the theme dealth with. At the end of each chapter there are useful scripture texts as well as cross-references to other similar themes. The various 'Appendices' at the end make searching easy. This reference book is thus a 'must' for a serious minded preacher.

The Papers and the Papers
Published in Paperback by Columbia University Press (1999)
Author: Sanford J. Ungar
Amazon base price: $20.50
Used price: $3.59
Average review score:

Fascinating depiction of a fascinating time
Ungar's book is a wonderful retelling of the Pentagon Papers controversy, from start to finish. It follows the stories of Daniel Ellsberg, who leaked the documents, the New York Times reporters and editors who worked with them (in a secret location, for fear of Nixon's government), and the compelling legal battle that followed their publication, reaffirming some of our most basic First Amendment rights. If you want to read just one book on the Pentagon Papers, this should be it.
