Who's Counting? A Great Book for Preschoolers
Emma Rose, who just turned one, often requests N. Tafuri's book "Who's Counting?" She enjoys turning the boldy colored pages all by herself, but is intrigued by the featured animals to stop and look for a while. Mama and daddy are tired of renewing this one at the library - it's time to add this book to ER's limited but classic collection. Now Emma Rose enjoys hearing the numbers and animal names; in the future, we expect she'll be challenged and surprised to find the "hidden puppy" on each page. If you have or know a 6 month to 4 year old, we all recommend you get "Who's Counting?"

A timeless beautiful book
A wonderful book. Why not ask " Mama, do you love me"? Everyone needs to be reassured of love, it is a natural human trait and to hear the little animals asking their mothers and the original answers is truly sweet. My 2 year old loves this book. The illustrations are fantastic and on some pages there are tiny little animals on the page too like a snail or lizard and my son loves to point these out to me. I recommend this book heartily. It seems to be under appreciated. A true gem.

Forever, and ever, and always
I love reading this book to my daughter. The storyline is excellent along with the illustrations. We love seeing all of the baby animals asking their mommy's if they love them. It's wonderful to see how they relate their responses to their baby's to where they live with how much they love them. For example, when the baby rabbit asks his mother if she loves him and her response is, "Yes, little one, I love you as the earth loves you, cozy and snug around you, giving you a warm place to sleep. I love you as the earth loves you, forever and ever and always." It is wonderful to see how the book reinforces that you will be loved forever and ever and always. I look forward to reading this book to my daughter for many years to come. This is a must have for any child, mother or grandmother.

I love You, Little One
One of Nancy Tufari's best books. The beautiful illustrations capture the reader. The word usage is great. I would recommend this book to any child. This story is one of my son's favorites. Thank you for the wonderful stories and illustrations Mrs. Tufari. C.G. and Z. G. Florida

Just ok
I thought this book was rather pricy for such a short book. Each page contains only 1 sentance and the art work was just ok. It didn't capture my childs attention at all. The idea was good but the story lacked any climax. It was nothing to get excited about. The only high point in this book was the price.

Keeps the interest of the Children!
This book was read in my class, by me to 4 and 5 year olds. They liked the large size and colorful pictures. When the book is over, just flip it over and find out what the moon sees. Two books in one! A great deal.

We like this book
My four-year-old loves this imaginative book, and so do his father and I. We are fond of Nancy Tafuri's style of illustration and have some of her other books, all of which we enjoy. I think flipping the book over to read about the sun/moon fascinates our son. The comparison of what goes on in the daytime and nighttime stimulates imagining of what our "daytime" places are like at night. The book is short and simple, but sometimes that's what we want -- especially when we want a short bedtime book! Overall, this book is pleasant and soothing, not spectacular but attractive, fun, and definitely worth reading.

Wordless book to awaken some imagination
Children as young as two may enjoy this book. It's the story of a little boy and his cat who fall asleep and enter a dream jungle world. A good choice to read with your little two to three year-olds as they begin to have real dreams themselves. Older children would also enjoy this book for Tafuri's colorful illustrations.

Wonderful wordless book
My daughter loves to read this book before bedtime. Because there are no words, it requires a little creativity from the reader, but that is the fun of it. Tafuri's illustrations of the jungle scenes are wonderful and the storyline captures any young dreamer's imagination.

Beautifully rendered book w/ a narrow perspective
As a youth services librarian at a large metropolitan library, I am always looking for large format, simple, appealing books for toddlers and their families. While this book is certainly lovely, I will not be recommending it or using in any of my storytelling programs because the people illustrated in this book are all white, and it does not reflect my community or many other communities today. It is truly surprising how many new children's books only feature white people. As one of those white people, I am offended and disappointed in publishers and illustrators who perpetuate this bias.

A beautiful book!
This is a wonderful book to help children learn about the months and the seasons. To the criticism of the other reviewer who complained that there are only white people in this book, that is true, but the people are a very small part of this book. The emphasis is on nature, particularly birds, and that reviewer is ignoring a great resource if she refuses to use this book for it's obvious purpose - to teach the months and seasons. If you ignore every book that only has white people, you will cheating children out of some really terrific books. When I think of all the great books I read growing up that only had pictures of white people, I shudder to think that my parents (or librarians!) could have denied me any of them because of color of the people in them.

simple and sweet
Brass Ring is the story of what you can do when "you're big". It has large simple yet sweet pictures that hold my 2 year old daughter entranced. It evokes such strong memories of summer and the beach, I can practically feel the sand in my toes and smell the sea air. The little girl in the story shares with the reader what she likes to do on her vacation, and this leads us on a mini vacation that goes from picking sea stars and snails to the grandest Carousel, where she waits to ride her favorite horse Thunder. Will she catch the Brass Ring while on Thunder and win another ride? You'll have to read for yourself, happy reading!

pretty good
I liked the idea of the book- the underdog/ shy donkey finding that he too had something to give the baby Jesus .I was hoping for a book that highlighted some aspects of the nativity- something that would reinforce what I am teaching my children about the birth of Christ. I nice book but not an historical teaching tool.

Charming story for pre-schoolers & kindergarteners
My 6 year old and 3 1/2 year old love this story. They got it for Easter last year, and we have read it many times. They love to see the silly places the goose chooses for her nest. The illustrations are appealing--a nice Easter basket story!
