An excellent example of Strindberg's pathos.
Strindberg records his most intimate details, unveiling the tumultuous life of writer-as-artist and how this is affected by the married life. This novel is tragically humorous. Anyone interested in the struggles of man, his art, and women will love this book.

A n amusing novel -study of people in the last century
The famous Swedish author August Strindberg gives a picture of different people living on an island in the archipelago in the end of the 19th century. He gives a portrait of a small island community and the society which includes both rich and poor. The main person is Madam Flood who tries to run a farm on her own since she became a widow. She has difficulties to manage the farmers until a new man arrives from the town.I think Strindberg's humour and his critics of the human behaviour is still valid when studying our own society today.

Strindberg's "A Dream Play"
One of the gods daughters came to earth to see how earth was. On earth one character is hunting for the love of his life, that has left him. Time passes with out memories. The play over all is a but confusing, the characters are different everythimg that they are mentioned. But in the long run the characters show you how lonely and depressed that they are.

Very short
I read the play Miss Julie so far, but I enjoyed that play tremendously. It went very quickly, but it was enjoyable.

Alas
Strinberg's plays unfortunately represent the worst tendencies of theater; they are long, ponderous, trying-to-be-profound, depressing messes. I say so not to insult his native Scandinavia, which produced many wonderful artists (Grieg, Munch, Tove Jansson, Ibsen on his good days) who are more deservedly remembered than Strinberg.
