Adam Phillip's chapter stands out in this valuable book. Finally, advice from a real professional(Disney) animator. Well respected as a character, special effects and Flash animator, Adam's advice is invaluable to anyone seeking to animate in Flash.

inspiring projects
This book has got eight chapters in it, and I've been through four of them so far and am really enjoying it. I bought it because WideGroup wrote one of the chapters and I saw the Sofake site on FlashKit featured site. It's great to see how their Flash files are built and yuou can get all the files for the book on the web site. I made the MP3 player which is great as I've been looking around for tutorials that show you how to do this in Flash MX for ages.

As amazing as the show itself...
I have seen the tour of TITANIC twice before, and this book just livens the show even more. I totally reccomend it to any fan of the show. Or even anyone who is interested in it! It tells you everything that you could ever need to know about this glorious tribute to the stage. May the show sale on forever.
how much the view from different classes was played out
I am only 14 and I have seen many Broadway Musicals. This one is definatly up there with my top ten. The power of how all of the different people acted and learned on the great ship is greatly shown in this book. The musical really highlights on the fact that all of the classes looked at the world with different eyes. I have just purchased the soundtrack from amazon and hoping to purchase this too! It is a great story to be passed on.
TITANIC LIVES ON
I WAS at the closing of theshow and saw it 3 times before and it was terriffic this is a great memory for any fan of the show

the constructed past: a guide to experimental archaeology
This is a very clearly presented book covering any aspect of modern experimental archaeology that one might expect. An all round good book on all levels of academia. It is only the price that may put you off.

A field trip of historic mineral sites of Earth
This is a big book, 9" by 11" by 1" thick in hardcover, of 488 glossy pages with both a general index and a mineral index.
This is a pictorial and textual "field trip" book of history and historical mining sites from all over the Earth. This features 100 of the world's classic crystals producing localities. Each site is accompanied by a text containing historical lore, and by multitudes ofold and new b&w photos, 667 of them, accompanied by many color photographs of crystal and gem treasures, each in its proper site.
A map in the back shows where the sites are, and a bibliography referring to each site, or chapter, with usually 2 references to each.
For the enthusiast of mineral history this work is just about invaluable. -DM

At the movies with Rolling Stone.
This book is filled with essays, articles, interviews, and reviews taken directly from the pages of Rolling Stone. Some of my favorite pieces included the behind-the-scenes/making-of THE LAST PICTURE SHOW article, the interviews with Jim Carrey and Alicia Silverstone, and the article about Quentin Tarantino. It was interesting to read the articles and interviews about different celebrities and see how different the personalities of many people are now from the way they were when the piece was originally written.

Flomen is a master
This book collects much of Flomen's work in one gorgeous volume. Flomen's use of black and white photos are amazing. His vision is both unique and breathtaking, as is his scope. This is a valuable collection.

Good detailed account of the battle, but sometimes drags
This book provides an excellent account of the character of General Bragg and the Confederate army at Stones River. Details of the battle are complete and detailed, but book lacks the intimacy of other Cozzens books on Civil Wars battles. Nevertheless, a thorough account of the battle and worth a read.
A well written account.
If you prefer fast food over meal which requires you
to sit down and relax, then you probably won't care for
this book. If you love detail, then this is the book for
you. The book is about a significant civil war battle that never got the attention it deserved. By the way, I just came from Stones River Battlefield, and if you should ever find yourself in Nashville, TN, I highly recommend visitiing this historic battlefield. It's managed by the U.S. Park Service, and they do a superb job with the visitors. It's located about 45 minutes south of Nashville by car. A visit there will give you a very good
feel for this key battle of the U.S. Civil War.

Finally, Stones River
The first battle to resemble Verdun. Peter's grasp of his material consistently amazes me.

Good for engineers starting the career
The book is a mix of economical and technical aspects of chemical engineering design; so is good for graduates starting the career or for practicing engineer interested in economical aspects of plant design. For me the good companion book for these engineer is "Conceptual design of chemical processes" by J. Douglas or better but out-of-print "Applied Project Engineering and Management" by E. Ludwig.
Good Starting Point for Economic Investigations
I never had much use for this text while in school. As with most subjects Senior year, we went too fast to appreciate it. With the years, however, I had cause to appreciate Peters & Timmerhaus. It is packed full of rules-of-thumb for preparations of cost estimates and comparing options. Although it is not the best place to end an economic investigation, it is the best place to start one.
Indispensible Starting Point for New Projects
The Fourth Edition is an advancement over the 2nd edition, the one I "grew up" with. Instead of jumping to cost preparation and option selection, then on to preliminary design, it starts out an excellent introduction, basic requirements for OSHA and EPA (including a good section on HAZOPs), a review of computer-aided design, then on to cost preparation and the rest. After option selection, the authors provide a good solid section on process optimization. This is a new area in the text and well worth reading. All in all, a current, concise design book, ideal for the student or the old hand.

Not the best !
Before reading this book, I had read "The constant garderner" of Le Carré, after having read it, I read "Death in the holy orders" of P.D.James. To that , I shall add that I have read all Kellerman (both Ks)'s books, but this is just a fast-read book, without any depth, with irrealistic and incoherent situations, meeting for instance this "psycho-killer" who will bring back peace in the mind of the child molested in vol. 1 of the complete series ! No research in the psyche of the characters, it is as watching a thriller, not as reading a book asking for more than simply action!
"Riveting"???..............
Publisher's Weekly calls this book "riveting." I made it 3/4 of the way through the book and QUIT. I have read all of Ms. Kellerman's previous novels, and believe that her last 3 books have been downhill all the way. She is capable of very good writing, but in this book is overly prone to exclamation points and plot confusion. At one point she refers to hair as "tresses"--ok, are we reading a romance novel here? Get real.
I totally agree with the reviews of Jerry Bull and Carolyn Lawrence, above, especially regarding the plodding and confusing plot and the switches in point of view. When the point of view switched to Terry halfway through the book it made absolutely no sense at all, not to mention that Terry is an extremely annoying character. I found the relationships between Decker and his relatives and Decker and Donatti to be a complete stretch.
I DID find the information about Jewish sects somewhat interesting.
Sorry, Ms. Kellerman. I may not even read your next book.

This sounds familiar
This book sounds a bit like one of the earlier ones in the series where Peter Decker is searching for a lost family member. Peter's biological brother's brother-in-law (are you following me here?) is killed and his niece is missing. Peter is called from LA to help the family, yet every time he tries, he is rebuffed by them. He and Rina are supposed to go to see his parents in Florida but Peter keeps putting this off to work on the case. (I have a lot more trouble changing airline tickets than Rina seems to.) Besides the plot being somewhat a rehash, there is also the return of Chris Denotti, a psycho killer and sexual predator who needs to disappear from the series but who seems to be set up in this book to return again. Also the relationship between Peter, his adopted brother and his biological brother is revisited, but there are no new insights. The plot is dark and somewhat complex and is not as satisfying as most of the other books in the series. Still, Kellerman fans should probably give this one a chance.

Someone missed the boat.. so many inaccuracies
I have studied the wreck of the Titanic for over 15 years and I've found this book to be lacking some of the basic details. For example, the book stated that all the women and children from First and Second class survived. This is not true. The book also mentioned the Navratil boys (the Orphans of the Deep) who were misnamed Lolo and Momon in the book. The boys' real names were Edmond (2 years old) and Michel (4 years old). Aside from the trivial facts, I feel that the book makes light of this horrendous disaster with the cartoon characters. The book was confusing because it didn't follow any chronological order before or after the accident. This might be difficult to someone who doesn't know much about what happened on 14-15 April, 1912. The book mentions a color photo spread in the middle of the book, but these photos can be seen anywhere and add little, if any, historical significance. {For example: There are a few pictures of the mostly intact bow, but none of the severely damaged stern. The picture spread consists mostly of still frames from several movies that have been done about the Titanic). This book might be entertaining to those who want to be somewhat enlightened about the disaster; however, those who have studied the Titanic in detail should probably pass this one up. Those who might read it for fun should be aware of the many inaccuracies contained in this book.
A terrific ready reference but needs a slight updating.
For those who do not need love stories or socialogical studies, this is a terrific reference book. It is touted as trivia, but it is much more than that. It is also very accurate except for the final analysis of iceberg vs. rivets. For years I never believed that the iceberg ripped a gash in the ship like a knife. That could not happen simply because ice is much, much softer and much, much more brittle than one-inch thick steel plates. But the iceberg is massive, several times heavier than the ship. So it was just a matter of weight that pushed the shell plating in and ripping open rivet seams like zippers. This book addresses some of those findings and misses the final analysis by only a split hair when it mentions the possibility of inferior iron in the rivets. In fact, William Garzke of Gibbs and Cox (see his and Dunlin's books on Battleships) analyzed the few rivets that were recovered from Titanic and found them to be highly contaminated with carbon inclusions. It is apparent then that rather than being forged from high quality steel bar stock (as the High Tensile Steel rivets were for American warships) the rivets were quickly cast in multiple molds for fast production. The reheating and driving of the rivets did not restructure the grains of the alloy to give the shank maximum resistance against shear as a forged rivet would. Hopefully the next printing of the book will include this finding.
A Good Book for Titanic Fun Facts
This book has the basic facts about Titanic, but it also has some really cool facts about the ship and the people on it. It's a great reference book if you need to look up a fact, instead of trying to read every single detail about the ship in a big book. (I've tried it) But if you do want a more detailed book look some where else. My favorite things about this book are- The appendixes, the good layout, and all the weird facts (I like the chapter Deep Prophicies)
