If you enjoy Eugenia Price...
I have read all of Eugenia Price's books and regret that there are no more. If you enjoy the historical detail of this book and her others, and have not yet discovered Diana Gabaldon's books (Outlander, Voyager, et al), you might give them a try. Like Ms Price's books, they are long, detailed, well-researched and written. Be forewarned however, that, unlike Ms Price's books, Ms Gabaldon's books have more (sometimes a lot more) sensuality and (historically appropriate) violence. If you are comfortable with that, you will enjoy Ms Gabaldon's stories that put you into early Scotland and colonial America (North Carolina area). If you enjoy Ms Price's comfortable and solid faith references, you might like Jan Karon and Curtis Ann Matlock's books.

Capture of the Heart and Soul
This book was great. It is one you will not want to put down. I became so involved in the story that I read the book in two days. In all the books I have read by Ms. Price she has captured my heart and soul. You feel as if you are right there with the characters in the book. Each new adventure in the book seems to draw the reader in. Now that I have read all the St. Simon Trilogy my yearly visits there will never be the same. Thanks to Ms. Price I will look more carefully at her beloved island and enjoy it more.

Bittersweet
You're probably wondering who the Beloved Invader is, right? The title really is the whole book, in general. Anson Dodge is a Northerner visiting the Civil-War torn South. God sort of leads him to St. Simons Island through different events. There, he falls in love with the people of this island and makes a home for himself. The people think of him as an invader, I suppose. He has to win their affection and acceptance, but he wins it completely in the end. He devotes his life to the people, his dreams, and to God. This is a poignant love story. It's a very sad story though--about cruelty, love, endurance, faith, and sacrifice. I usually go for the happy ending love stories, but this is one of the exceptions for me. It's a must-read book. Of course, if you read it, you should read the others in the series (New Moon Rising and Lighthouse). It's one of those books you don't often come back to--but if you don't read it you're really missing something. I believe, that as Price wrote this, it came straight from the heart. That's what makes it so special. It went straight to my heart. There are actually three love stories in this book. One between Anson and the people of the island (and his ministry), one between he and his first wife, and one with his second wife. I really can't tell you much else about the plot of the book. I don't want to spoil it for you. But buy this book and the other two as well. They are excellant reading!

Scienc Teacher
I have this book and use it at school. It is great for teaching students about different kinds of rocks. You will need a set of rocks to do the activities in this book. Once you get you set of rocks you have lots of fun and exciting activities to do with your children.

Welcome Back Stone
I waited patiently for the next Stone Barrington book to arrive! This one was read in one day because of the easy writing style of Mr. Woods. Stone takes an unusual case from a man that sends Stone to England to retrieve the gentlemans neice. Stone soon discovers that the girl he is sent to find is not the gentleman's neice and that begins a journey into governmental spies and smuggling and illegal trading activities, along with the occaisional murders. The best part is that Stone is briefly reunited with Arrington and he also hooks up again with Sarah the artist. Dino comes to Stone's rescue (as usual) and helps Stone through some pretty scary situations. I didn't think it was one of the best Stone books, but if you enjoy the Stone Barringotn series, you will enjoy this book.

Stone Barrington, at it again!
I greatly anticipated the release of this book for quite some time, and I was not let down! This next Stone Barrington book lives up tp the standards!

In this book, Stone ends up overseas in London, working for a man whom he finds out he knows very little about. John Bartholomew, or if that is even his real name, has sent Stone to convince his "neice" to return home to the states. Stone's job is to separate her from her lover, Lance Cabot, who is involved in some "illegal matters".

John and Lance Cabot are always one step ahead of Stone, keeping him guessing as to the truth of what they really are after. Are they really working together in some secret intelligence agency? Or are the rival enemies, both hoping to nail the other? This is what Stone must figure out.

And of course, what book would it be without the appearances of Stone's old time flame Arrington and old NYPD partner Dino Bachetti.

I greatly enjoyed this novel and cannot wait for the next one already! Stuart Woods cannot write them fast enough!

Enjoy!

The Short Forever Fo Sho
The Short Forever by Stuart Woods is just one of the many books written by him with the character "Stone Barrington." Stone is an ex-cop turned investigator for a law firm. In this novel, a client, John Bartholemew, is sent to him by an acquaintance of Stone's. He tells Stone to go to London to bring back his neece and to have the man she wants to marry sent to jail for life. Turns out the woman is not his neece and the man is a former man in British military operations that used to work with Stone's client. It also turns up that John Bartholomew is not his real name. Stone, when arriving in london, is reacquainted with an old fling of his, who is now engaged. Stone also gets caught up with busines partners of the man he is supposed to have sent to jail. To Stone, the review of this book is as confuing as what he must go through to solve everything. I personally loved this book and plan on reading other novels in the series.
