Book contents are out-dated and non-informative.
What was probably once a great book is now lacking much important material. So much has changed in the lighting and technical theatre industry in the past 20 years since the book was published. So many more up-to-date books are available with far more current information. I found this book to be useless and a waste of money.

Great source for research and historical background
This is typical of Gale's well researched and well presented series of bibliographies and checklists.It is a research tool and not an up to date presentation of the latest technology . The author Stoddard was himself a rare and out of print bookdealer so he had access to many hard to find and obscure works , and he uses this book to steer historians and researchers to the right sources for their needs . Priceless as such . Nothing exactly like it has been done since .
