I got this book for my 2 year old son because he loves to name animals, especially elephants and giraffes. But when I got the book in the mail, I couldn't believe how beautiful it was. The faces of these animals are all so different yet the book points out how similar they can be. As a lover of photography, I often take pictures of animals at the zoo. But now I go to take close-up shots of any faces I can get! Thanks to the book, my son can now identify zebras, gorillas, hippos, and camels and call them by their names. Not bad for 2 years old, I think!

Maybe you are like my wife and me: looking for a children's book written in both Japanese and English that tells a contemporary story about life in Japan. How happy we were to find this one - it is all of the above, and artfully drawn, and gently moral, too. Or maybe you just want a really good bed-time story about a foreign place. Either way, you should buy this book.

Passing Gas

This was one of the cleverest ways that I have ever seen anyone explain farting to children. The illustrations are informative, and the context is cut, dry, and right to the point about how humans and animals pass gas. The illustrations appeal to young kids because they are done in bright color and with cartoon characters that children can relate to. If I had kids, I would definitely buy this book for them to read and understand all about this smelly subject. I had no idea that people fart out over two cups of gas in one day; it amazes me that scientists can even calculate farts and their measurements. Between the descriptive illustrations and the easily readable context, I would absolutely recommend this book for children and adults of all ages.

The Gas We Pass by Shinta Cho, is a hilarious book of the reasons we pass gas. The illustrations are great. The color scheme of the pictures themselves helps the imagination grow, and suitable for children. It helps them learn the scientific concept of why gas is passed. It also tells which foods make gas stink, and how much gas actually comes out in a fart. It's really amazing what some never know. There is some inappropriate content in the book; it is a picture of a little boy and his father in the bathtub, both of whose genitals are exposed. Besides that, it is great for people of all ages. It is a book everyone should take the chance to read. I promise you, this book doesn't just let off gas; it's educational and funny and these are the two important elements of learning. So the next time you pass gas, you will think about how it happens, and there won't be anymore smell-raising questions. Enjoy!

This book is wonderful! It's very educational, and uses humor to get the point across. It adresses a very sensitive but very natural topic in such a way that you feel embarrassed for feeling embarrassed about the subject of "passing gas" or "farting" (especially for women). Sorry, I'm not deliberately trying to be "sexist", but in my life experience I've found that men are USUALLY less inhibited about the "art/science" of passing gas than women are! I've purchased this book for my young grandchildren and of course they loved it as the rest of our family did also. And I commend the person who was open-minded enough to write about this topic in such an informative, educational and humorous manner, and explain it as a natural part of our bodily functions that it really is.

I'm a big fan of "Everyone Poops" and "The Gas we Pass" which are also by Yagyu. This book gives kids an excellent look into how their bodies react to cuts and what scabs are all about. Kids ask the darndest questions...and this book gives them some answers. Fun reading for the entire family.

Surreal, and incredibly entertaining.
A great coffee table book

I'm a great fan of this entire series, but "All About Scabs" is a great addition -- destined to become a classic. Every child has scabs, and has questions and fears about them. The text is highly amusing, which makes the book fun for adults to read out loud. This one may be even better than "Holes in Your Nose" and "Everyone Poops." All three belong on every child's bookshelf, and on the shelf of anyone who ever has an occasion to entertain a young child. My eight year old, who grew up with nightly readings of "Everyone Poops" and "The Holes in Your Nose" likes this new one just as much. Bravo!!

My 3 year old cousin has this book and brought it to my grandmother's house while my family was visting. This book is hilarious. I couldn't stop laughing when my aunt read it out loud at the table (after dinner) My sisters found this book funny but gross, and my bother seemed to think that the illistrsions were very inappropriate for young children. My oldest brother got a kick out of the pictures of animal poop. Overall, this book is very amuseing for adults and older kids, and something the whole family will be laughing over.

"Everyone Poops" is an excellent well-written book with simple vocabulary children can understand. The illustrations are colorful, and accurately show a variety of animals and humans pooping. The greatest thing about this book, is that the author shows a young child sitting on a potty or tiolet, and the actual poop falling into the bowl. Children can identify with the realistic illustrations, and learn that it is okay to poop because everyone poops! I highly recommend this book to any parent with children who are about to enter into the potty training stage.

If the child (or parent) who enjoys this book feels less squeamish about discussing colorectal health concerns at a later time, than Gomi will have done more than just entertain; the author may have also helped save a life. So buy "Everyone Poops" and share it with the ones you love.

Yes, this is a cartoon book about breasts. There are no actual photographs, the cartoons are reminiscent of cave drawings, and the text is somewhat stilted (perhaps it's the translation) and often hilarious (whether intentional or not). For those who don't know (and I hope this isn't considered a "spoiler"), breasts (at least the female version) are useful--particularly for babies. Lots of babies get milk from a mamma's breast and this book covers the process nicely and with simple words and (even simpler) drawings. If you want to teach a young child about breasts, this may be the book for you.

"Breasts" is such a creative, humrous book filled with interesting colored drawings and what not. I enjoy this book dearly! I sit by my fire place every evening with my boy friend, reading him this wonderful book. I shall cherish this forever....breats...

A candid and realistic discussion of male and female breasts, and why they are different. A big focus on breastfeeding as the (only real) function of the breasts. Breastfeeding portrayed in a wonderful light and the milk production process is explained in simple terms. I began reading this to my breastfeeding 1 year-old and he loved it then and continues to love it as a weaned 3 year-old. There are many funny parts. Highly recommended to read to children who are exposed to breastfeeding and who feel breasts are a normal body part to see and know that breasts have a real and important function. Great to read to older children in preparation for the arrival of a new sibling who will be breastfed. This book is not in any way sexual or titillating and does not treat breasts as a sexual toy for adult men.

"Everyone Poops' is a tasteful classic. "The Holes In Your Nose" is not. We were given it as a gift, but I put it aside after only one reading, saying my kid could read it to himself once he got old enough, but I didn't have to suffer through reading it aloud ever again. We don't need to read about someone picking his nose and eating it! Disgusting, and not worthy of being promoted alongside 'Everyone Poops', as it so often is.

we totally loved this book. it was so honest and refreshing! ESPECIALLY the part where the dude FARTS (and says BRRRROMMMM)!!! the illustrations were delightful. oh, and- HAVE YOU CLEANED YOUR HOLES TODAY? (i have). =) thank you, and enjoy your flight into the land of the NOSEholes. !

I bought this book for my 1.5 year old daughter on a lark after she put a pea up her nose. I figured it would be good for a chuckle, and I was right - it definitely finds humor in nose holes. The strange part is, it has become my daughter's top #1 favorite. I have no idea why - it doesn't have a plot or any characters, but she just adores it. Go figure. I give this book a strong recommendation not just because it cracks me up, but because she loves it. Also, I don't know if it's a coincidence, but she hasn't put any peas in her nose since.

This book's illustrations and story focus on the bellybutton's function, but insinuate that a child's fascination with it is wrong. The book contains graphic illustrations of naked adults, and not in a child-friendly manner. I was unwilling to read this book to my toddler after having reveiwed it myself.

My two year old daughter *loves* this book - she'd have me read it 20 times a day if I were willing. This is a great book for explaining pregnancy and birth to a small child. I also love the fact that it portrays the mom giving birth in what appears to be an upright [squating perhaps] position - very nice. [You see mom's breasts, but nothing indiscreet or too graphic.] It also shows mom nursing the new baby, which is very nice as well. This is the best book on "where babies come from" for young children that I've found. Our whole family really enjoys it! [even after about 957 readings....] :)

I use this book to help foster/adopted children understand their connection to their their biological parents. The pictures and text are so concrete that children really " get it" in terms of where they "come from". Now I have many children referring to their biological mother as their bellybutton mother. This book is essesntial for adoptive families.

The beautifully illustrated children's story of a young Japanese girl, Mi-chan, and her quest to find bright red eyes for the cute bunnies she made out of snow. Mi-chan walks through the lovely, soft snow with her mother to the local market. Here they purchase crabs to eat and little rice flour dogs to guard the house. Mi-chan receives a branch of pretty red berries for her snow bunnies. On the way home, they stop in the falling snow to bow in thanks at the stone statue of Jizo, the protector of children and travelers.

My daughter likes to read this book but she enjoys some of the others in this series...such as the "fart" book. She did have fun with tracing the foot.
