Exploring the subjected male figure in films
For anyone who ever took a film course, we are taught via the writings of Laura Mulvey that it is the women who is subjected in film. Screening the Male provides the research conducted in examining the filp side of Mulvey's theory. This book is extremely valuable for anyone who is interested in how men are present in film.

Scarily Accurate!
I purchased this book when it first came out because I saw the author on a talk show and it was a little scary how he was hitting the mark with the hosts and the audience on their preferences on food in relation to their astrological sign. I went around reading parts of it to co-workers and friends and more often than not, he hit the mark. I lost the book a while back and decided that maybe I could find it on Amazon and I did. I think it is a great conversation starter and it will amaze you how he got everyone so down pat.

Economic Growth and Development: Reveiw
This is an excellent economic development book for the undergraduate and masters level audience. The focus of this book as compared to other development books (i.e. Todaro) is that it emphasizes the importance of economic growth rather than equity issues. I find this approach refreshing. Van den Berg uses historical and current case studies to bring the theory out of the book and into the real world. Overall, Economic Growth and Development is an informative and stimulating read for professors, students, and anyone else who is interested in understanding why some countries are developed while others are still developing. Five stars!

Great Book, Clear
This is a great book for the beginning programmer probably one of the easiest books to follow that I have used so far. Very fiew mistakes and they weren't important. I recommend it highly and at a good price.

This book is an excellent choice for the casual user
This book was perfect for me. I had toyed around with visual basic and bought a 21 day book that was too basic "no pun intended" for me. This book teaches you the fundementals without resorting to a third grade reading level. This book gives you exactly what it says the essentials. A perfect book to take you from the occasional user to programmer.

Very, Very COOL book, especially for beginners - GET IT!
This book is a must for any VB 4.0 beginner. I carry this book in my laptop case, because I know that what ever question I have, I'll find the answer here. Very easy to follow, lots & lots of Cool examples, and well written summaries. If your going to buy a book on VB 4.0 make it this one and at the above price, your making out like a bandit. MP

Actually this is OK
One does not expect much of spin-offs of TV-comic series (in this case 'The_X-men'), but this is actually pretty well written, in all respects. Nice to read, in a bumbling, happy-go-lucky kind of way. Somewhat reminiscent of Xanth, sort off.

Genogoths: Fantasy or Reality
I truly enjoy reading Generation X. Because of there unpredictablity as teenagers and what types of situations they can get themselfs into. It hit more towards reality at times than fantasy. Genogoths really makes you think about the future and the past. The way certain groups have successfully round-up people so they can conduct experiments, it kind of reminded me of what had happened to certain nationalities and races during the WWII era. Plus I would put it past anyone in this day in age to try the same thing! This book I highly recommend to all Generation X followers, and if you are trying to follow this band of mutants. Make sure you read the first two books first, it would be worth your time.

Chamber Rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was waiting for this book for so long.I wasn't disappointed with this book.I thought this is a pretty good sequl to "Crossroads".I only had one complaint; there wasn't that much of my favorite Gen-Xers;Artie and Leech. A tip for future novel writers of Generation X,include more of Artie and Leech.

Watch Out For The Unlabeled Religious Imagery
Towards the end of tape religious imagery is used. Something about imagining yourself in the hand of god.

There is nothing wrong with that, but I felt that the tape should have had a warning on it for people who do not share the author's religious beliefs.

Well done! I recommend this CD.
I just recently got this CD and I am pleased with it. It is just what I expected, calm guided imagery and affirmations. I found it very relaxing and plan to listen to it nightly to both relax from the stress of the day and to put positive life-affirming thoughts into my head. I have to admit, when I first heard Naparstek's voice I didn't like it but within a minute or two it grew on me with it's calming presence. For some people, the guided imagery and affirmations may cause strong reactions. I was actually surprised by this even though Naparstek forewarns the listener that this may happen. I think it is important to seek help (psychotherapy, medication) for depression outside this CD. This is not a cure for depression. I do think it is a wonderful tool that can be used in one's own home to help though. I highly recommend this. I plan to try some of Naparstek's other CDs in this series as well.

This is a helpful tool for people dealing with depression -
Belleruth Naparstek's soothing voice itself is a valuable aid to relaxation and calmness. The guided imagery is extremely helpful in centering oneself and in becoming relaxed. As Belleruth says in the introduction, you may find that it will ease you right into restful sleep the first few times you listen (especially if you listen at bedtime, as I do). It's worth the effort to stay awake, though, to follow the suggestions in the imagery and also to listen to the affirmations. I would highly recommend this audio CD, as well as another CD by Naparstek on coping with stress, to you if you are willing to take the time to be open to new ways of healing yourself.

The Queen is Dead : A Story of Jarheads, Eggheads, Serial Killers and Bad Sex

Undeniably original, but not encouraging
Zeeland and Simpson don't deny they blanketed this collaboration with dark humor, and the title is pretty indicative of what's inside. And the book cover ain't too bad! But the book, certainly original and not a gay manuscript that can be pigeon-holed into any single category like how to find the love of your life or how to put the fireworks back into sex with the same guy, its apparent purpose is to throw caution to the wind about any real hope for romance and a continuing relationship and how the insecure among us usually sabotage a promising lead. And Zeeland and Simpson certainly hit a chord of realism as they pretty much lay out where an inordinate number gay sexual encounters and relationships lead if they're caught up in the promiscuous subculture of the gay lifestyle, the neuroses and fears of guys looking for more than a night of groaning and sweating and an annoying preoccupation with how we perform in bed (or an SU van). The authors don't offer us much hope in the way of telling us how to step over the pitfalls on the road toward a gay happily-ever-after, but they do warn us of what we can expect. Dark humor, certainly, and it'll offer great reading for the gay guy not looking for how to find a lifelong lover or reignite a relationship gone stale. If you're looking for that, this book will probably depress you into heterosexualism.

The Over- Examined Life is a Pain in the Arse
If the unexamined life is meaningless, then the over-examined life is a pain in the "arse". This is not a frivolous, "let me tell you how I got laid last night" type of book. Rather, it is an often lyrical, but never sentimental look at the need to bond, and the just as equally strong impulse to be alone. In the end, one senses that the two writers recognize that all enduring relationships are "the union fo two solitudes" and the only choice is whether such unions are ultimately informed with kindness or bitterness. One wishes that an ocean and a continent did not keep these two soulmates apart.

Fascinating and Enlightening
... Simpson and Zeeland are perfectly matched, their style complements one another marvellously - Simpson witty and provocative, Zeeland preferring comedic understatement and wry observation, which is why the 'love story' of their letters is so affecting. Zeeland's account of his brush with Andrew Cunanan, a rival for the affections of a young Marine is particularly hilarious and fascinating - and enlightening.

The suggestions are good...the example letters are lacking
I found the suggestions in the book to be helpful. Unfortunately, many of the example cover letter failed to follow the guidelines. For instance, on page 47, "Don't tell them what you want them to do or that you'll call to schedule an interview." The cover letter on page 153 says, "I will call in approximately two weeks to discuss how I hope to contribute to your school." The cover letter on page 158 says, "Please contact me at the above address..." As long as the reader is aware of the inconsistencies, it is not a big deal. Just don't plan on using every word from any given cover letter!

A good book, especially for classified ads
This is a well-written book. It covers the basics of a job search, including chapters on resumes, interviewing, and job hunting. I appreciated the large number of example letters, but they are very focused on cold letters. There are only a very few letters for jobs you have been referred to, and few letters for someone without a lot of experience. I have found this book to be an excellent resource for most job hunting situations, but I wish they had skipped the resume and interview chapters for more examples.

The Title Says It All
This is deffinatly a book you can judge by its cover. It is what it says it is, everything you need to know when writing a cover letter. This guide offers valuable pointers on writing a cover letter and gives helpful tips on what to do and not to do when writing a cover letter, resume, etc. There are even sample letters for virtually every type of job application (including student and graduate). The book also gives examples of poor cover letters and a revised version of the same letters pointing out common but crucial mistakes many people make when applying for a job. Bottom line: very helpful in making the applicant look more professional and experienced even on the first interview.

Just not enough detail...
I think that this book was O.K. It just didn't give enough detail on how to build many of the items. While most people may be able to "figure it out", that's not what they buy the book for. If you pay money for a book that is supposed to tell you how to build your own homebrew equipment, then Darnit all, that's what it should tell you. Additionally, they could've done a bit more research, and told you how to contact some of the suppliers they mention. An appendix at the end with web addresses, and phone numbers would have sufficed, but the list they have is incomplete at best.

Ooooooooh Toys
If you like gadgets, and brewing, this book could prove dangerous. I couldn't stop drooling over the possibilities of building my own temperature controlled fermentation room with tons of neat little tricks. Good book for the brewer that likes to play with building things, or just wants to spend tons of money on equipment. Conversely, it provides many of the cheapest solutions to brewing equipment I've seen yet.

Gadgets!!
If you like to use your hands, build or modify things to suit your needs, and you're a homebrewer, this book is from God. Now, my Gadgetude Quotient is pretty high, so I love just about everything in this book, but Brew Ware has a little somehting for you, no matter how much you like to tinker.
