very handy manual
i found your book excellent in bedside procedures and normal values but unfortunately i have not found enough guides in clinical pictures (diagnosis)and full investigations for separate disease entities to help in query bizzare clinical presentations in our wards

Great reference book
I highly recommend this text for third year medical students. It properly assumes that the third year medical student knows next to nothing about clinical medicine and proceeds to explain abbreviations, commonly used drugs, procedures, protocols on rounds, and a whole host of useful things needed to survive and thrive in the hospital setting. I used it not only in medical school, but during my residency as well (especially during the first two years), especially when learning critical care medicine. Definitely shell out a few bucks and buy this book before you start your clinical rotations during medical school.

The best since M.A. Krupp's Physician's Handbook 21st ED.
It takes seconds to find what you need to know, and as you see from the table of contents it truly is a fantastic all-in-one must buy, must have for the serious medical student or pharmacist intern. This book will make you shine.

Good for a little history but not much more
Stevens gives a good background of the case and of those involved but the style of writing is very juvenille. It's a good book if you want the know the basics of Roe v. Wade, but not a good research book as I found out. Nonetheless, well-written and an interesting book if one wants a brief description of Roe v. Wade.

Excellent, informative and well written
This book disspelled many of the common misconceptions surrounding this case. I really enjoyed reading the book and liked the way the entire background, as it pertained to this landmark case, was thoroughly explained.

Guiding Children's learning of Mathematics
This book helps one to articulate the importance of Mathematical education for all children. It also demonstrates the ability on how to apply the principals of child development theory and sound pedagogical practice in the development and implementation of appropriate math experiences for children, including the unnderstanding of developmental readiness. It helps one plan and implement appropriate mathematics instruction and assessment by: -incliding instruction that developes students' problem-solving activities; -utilizing manipulatives to make math conceptsmore concrete and understandable. A biography of Lenny Bernstein for younger students
I was rather surprised that there would be A Rookie Biography of "Leonard Bernstein: All-American Musician" published in 1995 given that the famed composer and conductor died in 1990. Earlier generations of school children were first introduced to classical music through Bernstein's "Young People's Concerts," but those ran from 1958 to 1972 and I do not know if schools are still showing them on videotape. Consequently, I am not sure if young school children today know that Bernstein did more to promote classical music in the United States than anybody else in the last 100 years. Marlene Toby's biography tells the story of how the sickly young Lenny fell in love with a piano and music, went on to get a musical education, became a famous conductor, and then an equally famous composer. Through all of this, Bernstein's love for music comes through and hopefully young readers who pick up this book will have a chance to listen to some of his compositions (Everybody listens to "West Side Story," but I would also recommend Bernstein's "Mass" that was used to open the Kennedy Center for the Performance Arts). "Leonard Bernstein: All-American Musician" includes photographs from throughout his life and musical career. There are several juvenile biographies of Bernstein out on the shelves of your local library but this is the only one that is geared for the youngest sort of readers, so take that into account. Other Rookie Biographies devoted to great musicians look at Bach, Beethoven, Haydn, Mozart, and Sousa.

not half bad
But I need more. I picked up the book whilest at the library one night, attracted to it mainly by its cover. I started to read it that very night, got hooked on it, and spent just about every free moment I had, which isn't a lot for a high school student sometimes, reading the book. I was really getting into it, but also noticed the fact that I seemed to be far from a conclusion as I saw the pages before the ending growing fewer and fewer. The book itself is excellent, and will be even better in a sequel, assuming there is one, and I'm really hoping for one. So while the book was excellent, the ending was not the greatest all considered.

A review from the 'target audience'...
I got the book about a week ago, and was pleased at such an easy read.. and I got it for 4.97, hardcover at that. It was WELL worth my money. I am, for the interested, a 16 year old male. And like many have said, it reads like a comic.. which is what it originally was. I'm an alien buff, and astrology guy, and a computer geek... this book was me. Some people will not like, but then again some people didn't like 'The Hobbit'. In my opinion, if you dig comic plots that run high on the 'techno-modern' side (X-Men, Spawn, etc.), are into aliens, and want a book you can put away in a week easy... this is it. I eagerly await a sequel.

Better Make a sequal
Its like watching a T.V. Show were there are 10 minutes left and you know everything is not going to be finished by then So you know you'll have to wait untill next week to see what happens, but in this cause there is no next week, I doubt a sequal will come out before 2000. Good book though.

Guide to the Battle of Shiloh
Published in Hardcover by Univ Pr of Kansas (1996)
Authors: Jay Luvaas, Leonard Fullenkamp, and Steven Bowman
Amazon base price: $29.95

not highly recomended
I feel that Jay Luvass didnt describe this battle in the best way he could. Being a Social Studies teacher, i feel i know alot about this battle and many of the details. I have also read many other books on this battle. I enjoy studying and reading up on this battle and i think that Jay could have done a much better job on portraying the main idea. If your not looking to learn all that much, then its and ok book but definitley do not read it for historical information.

A must for true Civil War enthusiasts........
My husband and I recently returned from our honeymoon touring Civil War battlefield & presidential sites in TN, KY, IL, GA & IN. In May 1999, we toured eight of the crucial battlefield sites (Gettysburg, Antietam, Manassas, Chancellorsville, Wilderness, Spotsylvania, Fredricksburg & Harpers Ferry). What we now know from using these indispensible guides, has made us ready to go back to the sites visited in May for the in-depth tours of the battlefields. This guide proved to be everything we as two Civil War purists could have asked for. As the throngs of uneducated tourists stopped by each site using the NPS map given at the visitors center, we enjoyed a peaceful, nearly pristine view of Shiloh. The NPS maps offer a quick driving tour, stopping at all the major points in the easiest way to get you around and out of the park not taking into effect that you are constantly crossing over day 1 and 2 activities without a true understanding of how the battle unfolded. These brilliant guide books turned a 1 hour driving tour into a 5 hour comprehensive study of all events, including tactical and armory information. Beginning with the approachment of troops, to th first shots fired, to what other battalions were doing as the battle ensued, this chronological tour is a necessary edition to anyone wanting to understand the real Shiloh. We found ourselves on back roads in the woods, off the tourist path, following an old wagon supply road to a marker tucked neatly inside the mass of wilderness. We cannot imagine touring a battlefield any other way, and again only wish our first views of the ones witnessed in 1999, were able to provide the depth we so much enjoyed with these. If there is one criticism, the quotes were helpful helping us peer into commanders and soldiers minds, butproved to be a bit cumbersome at times. The guide for Chickamauga/Chattanooga seemed to taper on the quotes and instead offered "vignettes" which proved a bit more interesting and put an alternate view of skirmishes on place. Do not let this deter you in any way from selecting this book if a trip to Shiloh is in your plans. You will not be disappointed and I recommend it overwhelmingly over the NPS option.
