Harrison's is essential
I have used Harrisons since the eighties. I am a Clinical Psychologist dealing with patients who often have multiple medical problems. Harrison's is a complete solution to getting up to the date medical information, not only the book and CD but also the Website. It is expensive, but if you only ever buy one medical text, this has to be the one.

Meaty topic addressed colorfully
"Lean Advertising" purports that the agency organizational structure of yesterday - and still, today - creates rigid thinking, expensive heirarchies, and barriers instead of breakthroughs. The authors' writing never gets bogged down or dry; important points are made swiftly through classic examples everyone can recognize. We're now using the book as a primer to help explain our agency's own value system. Book is highly recommended to both young people, who you want to have an understanding of the history of the agency business and why it is the way it is now, to seasoned execs who want to challenge some of the most institutionalized ways of doing things in the agency business. Fabulous business book for marketing folks. Can be digested in six hours or less.

An excellent illustrated story of the March on Washington
"Martin Luther King, Jr. and the March on Washington" tells the story of the historic day when one of the most famous speeches in American history was delivered on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. Author Frances E. Ruffin sets the stage for King's "I Have A Dream" speech by providing the background on why civil rights leaders called for the March on Washington. The illustrations of Stephen Marchesi are combined with photographs of white only laundromats, colored entrances, and separate (and clearly unequal) drinking fountains. By the time the story gets to King's speech, students will have a good understanding of the rhetorical facing the speaker. The "I Have A Dream" speech is nicely summarized and the book concludes by talking about how the Civil Rights Act of 1964 changed a lot of the wrongs depicted in the opening section. This book is designed for students in the first through third grades (Level 2) and makes an excellent introduction to the civil rights movement and would be very useful for students to read during Black History Month to help them understand why King's birthday is a national holiday. I especially liked Marchesi's picture of President Kennedy watching King's speech on television; it might be useful to ask students to look at that picture and imagine what the President might be thinking as he listens to what King had to say.

The best investigative adventure ever published
I am a longtime gamer who probably has spent more on rolegaming then I can afford since the late 1980's. My shelves are filled with books for dozens of game-systems but Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay (WFRP) remains one of my personal favourites.

This superlative product was originally published by Games Workshop as two separate books: Power Behind the Throne and Warhammer City - Middenheim. This Hogshead version has the full material from both books in one handy volume. The first section of the book, Power Behind the Throne details an extremely intricate conspiracy by the forces of Chaos in the city Middenheim.

A distinct contrast to the wimpy plots so prevalent in the fantasy roleplaying industry, this is a grade-A, master-level investigative scenario for the veteran player. The huge cast of characters each playing a part in the adventure, yet having motivations and plans of their own, make this adventure a real challenge for players and gamemasters.

This book should be on every gamer's shelf, regardless of which game system you play as an example of how it should be done. Be warned though, the deep roleplaying and many conversations required will bore the combat-oriented player to tears. Real roleplayers who fancy themselves as the fantasy equivalent of Poirot or Holmes will have the case of their lives to unravel.

A new approach to intuition helps readers be full sensory
This new approach to intuition can be employed by anyone -- whether they want to know the mystery of the pyramids or the location of their car keys. The author explains that our conscious mind is like a bubble in a sea of Universal Mind. Everything that has ever happened, every thought or idea is but the thickness of the bubble wall away. The trick, of course, is to penetrate the wall. This book lays out seven keys that unlock the way.

Stephen Hawley Martin knew he had the power of intuition. What he learned on a weekend retreat at the School of Metaphysics was that his uncanny ability is a skill that can be taught. In Omni Perception he does just that in an entertaining and engaging way so that you, too, can have or enhance your power.
