A great read, informative and worthwhile.
For technical traders of all markets, this book is a must-have. From the most elementary techniques to the most complicated, this book puts all relevant concepts in an easy to understand, yet thorough, study. My own trading has become much more efficient, selective, and profitable since I read Stanley Kroll's BUSINESS ONE IRWIN GUIDE TO THE FUTURES MARKETS, and I would recommend it to anyone looking to gain similar results

Very good book but read others Dr. Stanley has written
This is a good book and part of a series that Dr. Stanley has written.

Dr. Stanley has become a big name since the tremendous success of "The Millionaire Next Door" but all of his books on marketing and selling to the affluent are great.

I prefer the book "Marketing to the Affluent" if I only had one to read but if you are someone who deals with high income people, all books in the series are a must. He is ground breaking in his research and writes in an easy to read style.

I am a financial consultant and structured settlement consultant for injury victims who receive large settlements. I quote Dr. Stanley's research often and try to read everything he publishes.

I would recommend this highly as well...

Packed with information - Very Useful
This outstanding book by Dr. Stanley took my sales to a new level.

I was introduced to Dr. Stanley via his mega best sellers "Millionaire Next Door" and "The Millionaire Mind", both outstanding reads.

I also recommend 'marketing to the Affluent" also by Dr. Stanley.

Selling to the Affluent will take your sales to a new high, just as it did for me. Great book.

Outstanding - A treatise on how to sell to the savvy
Aside from being a followup to Marketing to the Affluent, STTA shows you how to sell the savvy. It tells you when the best time is to approach them and also offers dialoques and examples.Having read many sales books, it is refreshing to read one that deals with facts and teaches techniques that don't insult your client.Selling to the Affluent reveals the three most important things you can do to land afluent prospects and encourage wealthy clients to buy and make repeat buys.Stanley shows how to:Create lists of affluent prospects who are "riding high" because they've suddenly come into money or improved their socioeconmic status.Approach prospects at the moment when they are most likely to buy.Find and utlize critical information that will help you prospect, communicate, and clos sales more successfully.Chapter profiles two of America's most successful sales professionals and chapter 13 goes into apostles vs. antagonists. Which one do you want to be?I highly recommend this book along with Marketing to the Affluent. Two other worthwhile reads are Earning what you are Worth and Advanced Sales Strategies.

A Harmony of the Gospels: With Explanations and Essays

Valuable tool for all students/readers of the Bible
The book is well-coordinated and provides excellent footnotes which further amplify and clarify the Scripture in its historical/theological context. This edition, in the New American Standard Version, is easy to read, although I personally prefer the elegance of the King James Version (albeit that version does contain some obsolete and obscure words). It is wonderful to be able to compare the accounts of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John side-by-side! I had a similar scholarly volume during my college days but somehow it and I parted company over the years (My old edition had a _sewn_ binding. Unfortunately, this edition has glued-in pages -- but the book should endure fairly well with reasonable care).

You won't go wrong with this fine reference. It is certainly helpful to anyone who desires a fuller understanding and appreciation of the New Testament, especially regarding the life and sayings of Jesus.

Terrific supplement for study of the Bible...
A wonderful and essential reference tool for studying the Bible! I recommend this book for both serious scholars of the (New Testament) Bible and for any person who is already a Christian, _and_ for any other of those who wish to learn and explore the teachings of Jesus.

Excellent chronology of Jesus' life
This harmony of the gospels was recommended to me by a retired professor from Taylor University. I found the arrangement of material very defensible and very well organized. The essays at the end of the book give a good introduction for the uninitiated in fundamental problems in modern "criticism". Useful information on dating of events in the gospel narratives are also provided. I take exception to the critic who claimed that "The actual date of Christ's birth and death is written in stone and correlated by the Jubilee records." This view is held by a tiny minority, some of whom, to be charitable, have dubious academic credentials. On the other hand, both Thomas and Gundry, have published a number useful pieces of scholarship many of which can be purchased through Amazon.
I found the most obvious thing to jump out at me was the development of the controversies between Jesus and the Jewish leaders, and between Jesus and the village of Capernaum. Without some form of chronological guide it can be difficult to see the connections between events during Jesus' life. I found this to be the most helpful aspect of reading Thomas and Gundry's Harmony.

Orthopaedic Neurology: A Diagnostic Guide to Neurologic Levels

A great book with wonderful pictures
As a neurology doctor, I found (and still find) this book helpful in the cartoon illustrations that detail everything from the nerve roots to plexus to individual nerves that innervate the various muscles.

I loved it when I was a resident in training for its very simple yet succinct graphical nature; as a picture is definitely worth more than a thousand words.

Those who enjoyed Ken Lindsay's Neurology and Neurosurgery Illustrated will certainly like this book and vice versa.

INTERESTING
I thought the book was interesting. It explained everything in detail. I was very dissapointed by the previous reviewers comments; a personal attack on Dr. Hoppenfield. I read this book because I was a patient of Dr. Hoppenfield. I must say that if it wasn't for this great Doctor and his knowledge, I would not be walking today.

Dr. Hoppenfield, you gave me my life back!

osteopathy and neurology
My first introduction to Dr. Hoppenfeld's writing was through his book, Physical Examination of the Spine and Extremities. I found it to be concise, well written and very informative as is this text. It is an excellent resource and since in osteopathy a major focus is on the skeletal system it is an excellent aid.
I can understand previous reviewers frustration with the 'bronx bomber'. To be honest, I don't think I would ever want to rely on any one who is unable to spell correctly. It doesn't inspire confidence. How did they ever get into medical school?

An interesting, if plodding, analysis of Kubrick's films.
Though Thomas Allen Nelson's book on the films of Stanley Kubrick is not for everyone, fans of the famed auteur will have much to enjoy and think about while reading. Nelson is an obviously intelligent person with much to say, but I think maybe a little TOO much to say, his book is at times plodding, and only very perceptive Kubrickians will be able to understand his meaning. All the same, I enjoyed the book excellent well, and Thomas Allen Nelson's insights are fascinating. The important thing is, I had a deeper understanding of Kubrick's film afterwards

Indispensable book on Stanley Kubrick
This volume stands alone as a model of film criticism on the works of Stanley Kubrick. The book contains individual chapters on `Lolita' through `The Shining'. One of the things that I find so fascinating about this book is not only Nelson's ability to assess the individual films to such an analytical degree, but also to evaluate them as a progressive whole. It astounds me how much insight Nelson brings to Kubrick's films. Will there ever be an expanded version containing chapters on `Full Metal Jacket' and `Eyes Wide Shut'? One can only hope.

A wonderful view
There can be no greater praise for a book about Kubrick than to say that it is worthy of its subject. This one is. The opening chapter gives the bare biographical facts, and attempts to dispel a few of the myths about Kubrick's personality - not least the idea that, for example, a man's real or journalistically endowed flying phobia should have the least relevance for a viewer or a critic of his films. The next chapter analyses the early films up to the first masterpiece, Paths of Glory; and each subsequent film (except for the compromised Spartacus) has a chapter to itself. Nelson's critiques are detailed, comprehensive, thoroughly readable and constructive - which is to say, favourable. He appreciates the films and wishes others to appreciate them too. This revised and expanded edition contains, in the first chapter, a charming tribute to the director and, in two new chapters, analyses of Full Metal Jacket and Eyes Wide Shut which show that, in the intervening years between The Shining and the present, Nelson's abilities have diminished as little as Kubrick's. All the essays in the book can be read and enjoyed for their own sake - I was especially fond of the one on A Clockwork Orange, long before I was able to see the film itself - but they will also make you long to be back there in the dark, sharing the artist's vision with the eyes Nelson has widened for you.

Interesting
During a career spanning 36 years Sir Stanley Matthews left fans with innumerable memories of his breathtaking footballing skills. None of them realised, however, just how astute he was at defining one of the early 20th century's greatest poets. Comparing Eliot's "Mr. Mistoffelees" to Moses' speech on Mount Sinai is perhaps a little far-fetched, but one can forgive old twinkle toes the odd slip now and again. I mean, he was a cracking footballer, wasn't he, even when he played for Stoke. And I'm a Derby fan, so that's high praise indeed.

Excellent resource
It has been a few years since I made use of this book, but I see no one has reviewed it, so my few comments can only help.

This is a top-quality resource, providing papers and essays by some of the finest biblical scholars on each of the main methods of critical interpretation. The tone is academic, but accessible enough for your regular pastor or serious student of theology, if not the entirely untrained layman.

I would not hesitate to recommend this as the best volume of its kind available, although on the negative side, not many people are going to be in a position to spend [dollar amount] on a single volume. I recommend ordering a copy from your library or finding some other way of borrowing it.

For an infinitely better-priced compendium, albeit only a second-runner to Porter's volume, you can purchase I H Marshall's New Testament Interpretation for [dollar amount] or less.

The millionaire next door : the surprising secrets of America's wealthy

Excellent-this book is must reading for everyone!
Every now and thena very, very special book comes along with a "aha" and this is such a book. Many people are spending their way through high incomes---keeping up with the "JONE'S" high profile lifestyle's encumbered with high debt and zero savings. I worked for a millonaire one time who said"Money buys clothes, clothes don't buy anything!" He advised us to buy our "toys" clothes, cars, vacations etc. off profits of profits and never spend principal! This mans nt worth was well in excess of $350,000,000. I would also recommend three other books; "RICHEST MAN IN BABLYON" by George Clawson, "WEALTH WITHOUT RISK" and "FINANCIAL SELF-DEFENSE" by Charles Givens. Remember, it's not what you make, it's what's left over that counts. If you spend all of your money on your lifestyle, guess what? You'll always have to! Good reading, excellent book.

A Book Whose Time Has Come--wisdom long OVERDUE!
I used to be one of those people who spent all or at least most of my money and thought I was doing okay with the little savings I had in the bank earning 2% (wow).I always bought brand new cars, new clothes, went on vacations 6-8 times per year and partied. I had a great time! One day my company shut down and I was forced to live on 50% OF MY INCOME. My savings dwindled to nothing and I had a hard time making car and credit card payments. I came to the realization that I was "renting" my "lifestyle" all of which was encumbered with debts and false belief in "job security" A friend loaned me a copy of "The Millionaire Next Door" and I had to painfully admit that I had been a fool. I met a really nice old couple in their '70's who never made much over minimum wage in salary, but were debt free and had 100's of thousands to retire on and were living better than the flamboyant fools like me who spent through their incomes. This book turned me around. I would also recommend "9 Steps to Financial Freedom" and 'More Wealth without Risk" to add to your library, or at least borrow from a library. I am now living better, earning 20-25% in mutuals, contribute to my new companies 401 (k), have a IRA and am DEBT FREE with the exception of my mortgage which will be paid off in five years (or less).

A FANTASTIC BOOK!
I look at this book as a modern version of the timeless classic "The Richest Man in Bablyon" Frugality and Delayed Gratification are difficult disciplines which is probably why so few people, irregardless of their incomes, have any real wealth! For anyone interested in actual action techniques, I highly recommend 'Wealth without Risk" and "Financial Self Defense" by Charles Givens. also "7 Strategies for Wealth and Happiness" by E. James Rohn.

Great Resource
This is a great book to use if you want honest, useful information on medical schools. Maria Lofftus, the author, was on the admissions committee at UC San Diego Medical School and does a great job of breaking down the process. One drawback: the book is hard to navigate through.

Good Preparation
This has all of the information needed to apply and become accepted at the medical school of your choice.

review
This book is very frank about what it takes to get into med school. It is, at times, inspiring in that it made me want to pursue a career in medicine even more. But, the book is also very honest about the difficulty of getting into school as well as the not-so-fabulous aspects of being a doctor. I think it's a must-read for any serious pre-med.
