Fossil Hunting- Hide and Seek for the New Millenium
I can remember pouring over the pictures in this book, using my book light, long after the final lights out call from my parents. I traveled back in time, imagining dinosaur growls and prehistoric seashells. By day, I would wander the acreage on my Grandma's farm, scouring the weedy earth for the slightest hint of ancient rock or dinosaur footprint. I wanted my school-age children to enjoy the imaginative art of archeology and paleantology and immediately remembered my favorite book, Fossils: A Guide to Prehistoric Life. I was delighted to see that it was still in print with the same exciting drawings. I immediatley ordered my copy! I then decided to order a copy for my kids! This is a great book that will encourage your children to look beyond the video games and satellite channels and into the fascinating world of the ancient past.

Only For Beginners!
This little guide is the best choice for beginners and children. Book gives the reader an idea about what a fossil is, where and how they can be found, and some information about major fossils. All the pictures are hand drawn illustrations, so that they are not very detailed but still OK for kids and beginers. (I liked it when I was young!)

What do you think about your doctor?
What do you think when you go to your doctor, that he will help you? That the only thing that he wants is your money? That he cares about you? The only problem with the medical thrillers is that you will think twice if you want to see a doctor or if you want to go to an hospital.
This thriller is good it will keep you reading and you will see the two types of doctors that exist, one who the only thing he wants is money, and the other that the only things he wants is to cure people, I think that this profession is the most difficult to live with, in one hand you need to live, but in the other is with the life of a person that are you dealing for.

Storyline ....
Since Amazon didn't post an editorial review, here's the description from the back of the book to help you decide if this book is for you: "Married in name only .... the marriage of Spencer Brade, M.D., to Carol Grahame was one of simple convenience. He needed money to start the practice -- wanted it desperately -- she needed a husband immediately. With the Grahame fortune he could set himself up. In return, Carol was able to give her unborn child a name. But soon Spencer Brade found himself in love with the beautiful girl who was his wife. The money she had given him seemed like an inrumountable barrier between them. He decided that he must make money quickly, without caring too much how he got it, and pay Carol back. Only then could he hope to win her love in return and make their marriage one in fact as well as one in name .... Spencer Brade, M.D. is the thrilling story of an idealistic young doctor who allows himself to be corrupted by the medical vultures of a great and honorable profession ..."

I can't give any other description to this book than "good".
The comment above may sound like I don't like this book, but this is one of the Top 5 I've read so far. However, that may soon not be in the Top 5 since I read so many of these books. I can't think of any worst part in the book, except that I couldn't get to Page 12. I read every other page then that one, yet I just couldn't get to that adventure. Maybe I just read the "Turn to Page..." directions wrong. But still, that doesn't mean the book is bad. Besides the worst part, the best parts are where you sneak into the park, capture Dr. Bok, and go on the Black Hole. I especially like the "alternate universe". It must be more thrilling than ever to go in that ride. It's too bad this isn't a real story. Well, that's all I can say about this one. Don't miss it.

Daredevil Park
I like this book because the rides are cool, and because even though it's not right, sneak into the park to have fun--until you go to Transylvania Island and find Dr. Ivring Bok, and get into some trouble with the vampire too. When I read the book I heard about the Black Hole roller coaster I really knew that ride was going to be exciting. This was one of the favorite books of the series that I read and really liked.

High Quality Series
I myself have never read this book, but i have read almost every other in the series and i am amazed at how well they are written

Handbook of denominations in the United States
Published in Unknown Binding by Abingdon ()

Broad, but shallow
This book came highly recommended to me. You see, I wanted to understand why there are so many Christian denominations out there, who they are, and what sets them apart. This book goes some way in that direction. It lists what must be all the denominations and gives a little information on them. There isn't any depth here, which means that you can read it, and never really get what the groups believe. For example, I have talked to people, and found out that Christians often use the same words, but when you get down into it, they mean something completely different when they use those words.

Oh well, perhaps I was asking too much. If you want a book that is broad enough to list every denomination, but don't want any depth, then get this book. 3 stars.

A great resource for researching denominations
Our church pulled out of the United Church of Christ last year, and our denomination search committee needed a resource to get more information. We were very happy to find this book. At your finger tips are brief sketches of practically every major religious group in the United States. Some of the essays are very brief in nature, while others are pages long. Still, it is an excellent starting point, and for most people who just want the basic facts, it is all the information a person could want on the religious movements in the country. And one of the other things I like about the book is that as far as it it is possible, the authors take a very objective position. No trace of bias or sectarian coloring mars the book, as far as I can tell. There is no way of discerning which denominational perspective the authors write from, and that's the way I like it.

SO VERY HELPFUL!
I have gone through 3 editions of this book (5th, 6th and 8th) and can't wait to get the new one. Extremely informative about the history of the "denominations within denominations" that people in our circle of friends and neighbors may belong to. I found it very helpful to read the reasons behind the various splits which have occurred in almost every denomination, yet all this information is concise and easy to find. I am always skeptical when a new editor comes on board, yet Samuel S. Hill's contributions are seamless, and the Handbook of Denominations retains its high quality.

incmplete book
the editors boast themselves as modern .in the 6 edition authors did not even mention h. pylori in the pathology of peptic ulcer whereas harrison' 13 edn discussed about it. also the urology chapter is badly written with not even a mention on CA urethra ,peyronie's disease.also the treatments are incomplete.also the concept of GE reflux &its relation to standing & lying is totally wrong(infact opposite).go for a greenfield or asabiston instead.

well structured, but needs supplements
Surgery as a field, is wide and developing rapidly, probably publishing textbooks is not a good idea anymore. This book hits and misses in trying to collect the basics for surgical knowledge and more.
You'll find many missing points which you can fill from the internet or from magazines or other resources.
Most of the chapters are excellent and are probably all what you might need for your college study like those on trauma, diseases of the thyroid and parathyroid, metabolic response to injury etc.. but there are some which are disasterous like the chapter on breast conditions, but probably the subject itself is complex and controversial anyway.
The text overall is very well written and the structure and design of each chapter is very logical, some figures are not so great though, plus the book needs an update. you might consider supplementing it with Surgical clinics of north amarica for some of the chapters you read.

Best of the standard textbook of surgery
It's new and more . but It's expensive for medical student in the devloping country such as Thailand . however it's a reference book for most surgeons in the world.

Only If You Must
This is the worst book in its category, full of contradictions within itself and with its textbook to. Read it only if you must, and only after reading other books when preparing for exams.

good if you have time
a fair source of review but use as a supplement to some text source.
