VERY INTERESTING
"Maggie's choice" takes place in a time when people held church services in barns, and the pators didn't even plan the sermon. Maggie Allerson is different from her friendsl Dancy and Susannah. Dancy has a lot of money and Susanah has a huge house and a lot of servants. Maggie has to do chores and have Latin lessons, and she's embarrassed about that. Maggie is always worried what Susanah will think of a girl like her and she always tries to please Susanah. On Christmas, Susanah gets her own slave girl and mistreats her. Melee (the servant girl) is so used to the warm climate of her old home in the West Indies that she becomes very sick. When Melee gets sick, Maggie realizes that Susanah is not nice and starts to stand up for her own beliefs. I liked this book because Maggie was so real it seeemed like I was sitting in the stagecoach on my way to Massachusetts. If you like books about history, this book is for you!

enlightening,soul nourishing,inspiring,uplifting,energising.
Wow, how wonderful it is to read such a jewel like this. The amount of energy, love, light, inspiration, wisdom & truth one receives from this book is infinate. Norma & Jean the authors of this book are to me obviously very pure channels to receive such profound truths. Also the beings that channel this information are truely of the light & they speak insightful truths that can be felt in the heart centre. I was so moved and inspired by this book, that I have decided to take the spiritual trip to Bimini myself & since making the commitment others will also be travelling with me. I have come all the way from Australia to make this journey & the excitment that is building inside me is indescribable. I just keep reading this book over and over and I'm always finding more meaning & truths each time. I have also strongly recommended this book to many others & they have found this book to be just as prescious as I have.

This book not only reminds us to meditate on the keys and codes of nature and our mother earth, it gives us guidance and insight into how we can embark on this journey ourselves.

I have also read Norma's book "we the Arcturians" & this book is also another prescious jewel but this is another review in itself. I highly highly recommend it.

We'll be embarking on our own journey to Atlantis on 18 December 1999 thanks to Norma, Jean & all the light beings who have created this book.

Lots-o-Info!
This is one of the most informative books I've ever read. Harold Bloom takes you through, close to every piece of literature ever written by Williams, and tears it apart piece by piece, allowing the reader to get to the essence of the writing, and also get some insight from another person. I think it to be very refreshing to find such a tacctful book on literary criticism. It's a fabulous book that I would recommend to anyone in a heartbeat!

J.C. Watts (Black Americans of Achievement)
Published in Library Binding by Chelsea House Publishing (2003)
Author: Norma Jean Lutz
Amazon base price: $10.95
Average review score:

Well-organized biography for older kids and teens

This is part of a series of short profiles of successful black Americans, intended to inspire success in young people of all backgrounds. Lutz chronicles J.C.'s childhood, poor in money but rich in love, with a Baptist minister dad and devoted mom who instilled in him solid family and civic values. He made mistakes, including fathering a child out of wedlock while in high school (a child adopted and lovingly raised by relatives), and as a teenager, valued sports above all else. After reaching the University of Oklahoma on a football scholarship, he was redshirted, taking the opportunity to become more devoted to his academic studies. Then he earned the starting quarterback position for two Big Eight champion Sooners teams before a stint in the Canadian Football League. Very intelligent with a natural talent for leadership and public speaking, he carried the values of teamwork, patience and delayed gratification learned in football into life after sports. Lutz details J.C.'s accomplishments as an ordained Baptist minister, Oklahoma Corporation Commissioner, U.S. Congressman, and most importantly, devoted husband and dad for his wife Frankie and their seven kids. The book tells of adulthood hardships which J.C. overcame too, such as near bankruptcy in the oil industry, the unexpected death of a beloved head minister and mentor at his church in Oklahoma City, and unfair, race-baiting political attacks against him by a Democrat in a campaign.

Watts is a strong, independent thinker, not anyone's tool or puppet; and that is very well portrayed in this biography. He became a Republican because of his strong sense of traditional family values and right versus wrong, inciting vitriol from Democrats who mindlessly take for granted the "birthright" that blacks join their party. In Congress, he pushed for more careful examination of alternatives to "affirmative action" before eliminating it altogether, angering (but ultimately winning respect from) many fellow Republicans.

This book is organized in a straightforward, chronological manner, and is written in a plain but pleasant style. As such, it is ideally suited for junior high and high school age readers; but adults wanting to learn more about J.C. will find this an interesting, fact-filled little summary of his life (through 1999). The volume is a great resource for book reports and biographical school assignments in either literature or political science classes. There are a few factual errors in the book, primarily related to football. For example, Lutz refers to the Florida State "Gators" (actually, Seminoles), who lost to J.C.'s OU teams in consecutive Orange Bowls in the early 1980s. That sort of sloppiness is not very common in this book, but will annoy readers who are sports fans. However, they don't detract from the overwhelming message of J.C.'s life as told through these pages: A poor black kid from Eufaula, Oklahoma, overcomes a harsh series of economic, racial, athletic and political obstacles to success, through his devotion to God, family, hard work and personal responsibility. It is an inspirational story of a winner in sports and life, one conveyed very clearly and fairly by the writer.

An Excellent Role Model
I read this book first before giving it to my 9 year old son. He is an avid sports fanatic and I was worried he was idolizing too many sports starts with questionable morals and ethics. J.C. is a real American Hero. He came from a humble background in rural Oklahoma and went on to become a college football star. He is now a very respected congressman with a bright future in politics. He admits to some bad decisions as a teenager. But, I feel this subject was handled very well in the book. Even the best of role models are not without human errors. The book really made me realize how stressful the life of a "star" athlete can be. Now, I really believe that former athletes can become good politicians. They know what it's like to have a group of people depending on you and learn to deal with the great stress. Before reading the book I questioned the capability of athletes turned politicians.

Norma Jean the Life of Marilyn Monroe

Norma Jean is as much about an era as a person
With careful attention to the social climate of her life Marilyn Monroe's pscyhe is revealed as tellingly as her body was in the famous calender photos. Norma Jean addresses the inevitability of Monroe's multiple marriages and disintegration into depression. The reader will empathise with this driven young woman who seemed to "have it all" and tragically had nothing. The lonely childhood and increasingly isolated adult years of Monore are presented against the backdrop of a world that idolized her without sympathizing with her. The book is a great read for femenist, film buffs, Monroe fans and anyone interested in Tweniteth century American culture.

Norma Jean

The first thing that struck me was the numerous personal photographs in the center of the book, including the calender page of 'golden girl'. When I had time to read, I picked it up and started, from then on unable to put it down [as an avid reader this is a HUGE compliment to the writer]. I was to finish the almost 400 pages in less than 3 days. It was the BEST biography I have EVER read. It is a classic, heart wrenching tale about the personal struggles of a beautiful and sensitive woman. I am now a HUGE fan of hers, and I feel honored to have had a glimpse into her soul [through this book]. Also, the book is beautiful looking, with a simple gold script Norma Jean on the hard cover, hot pink inside the covers, beautifully haunting images in the center.
I can't imagine finding another biography of her that can even come close to comparing. It changed my life.

Norma Jean
I was visting my boyfriends parents in Bay City Michigan, and wandered about there wonderful antique shops. At one of them, I came across some old hard covered books, including some first eddition star biographies. Among them was Norma Jean by Lawrence Guiles. I didn't know much of the life of 'Marilyn Monroe', but I was drawn to it none the less. The price of the book was around $30, alittle too much for something I knew little about, besides I just didn't have the money [I regretted having to leave it behind]. Two months later it was Christmas. I had gotten it as a gift.

Do Dogs Go To Heaven? Eternal Answers for Animal Lovers
Published in Paperback by JoiPax, Inc. (18 December, 1999)
Authors: Jean Holmes, Lee Shortridge, and Norma Jean Lutz

Average review score:

Just Short of Five Stars
As a Universalist pastor and animal rights activist of many years, I have to say that this is an excellent book. The cover is absolutely adorable and worth the cost of the book alone. Much of the material presented regarding the souls and spirits of animals is very similiar to my own, which has been posted on the internet for a number of years, however, to Jean Holmes credit, she presents it in a much less confrontational manner than I usually do.

So, if I like this book so much and love the cover, why have I only given it four stars instead of five? Well, I feel that the author fell short of presenting, of what could have been, one of the most important books of our time. She is knowledgeable enough to discuss "apokatastasis" in her book, which indeed offers evidence of animals and all of creation being eventually being restored, however, I feel she has greatly missed the full understanding of this teaching, as she seems to hold a more traditional view of hell, by stating it is eternal. Of course hell can not be eternal if, as scripture says, it will be thrown into the Lake of Fire. Such an oversight is, to me, unfortunate.

Jean Holmes, like myself, has spent a lot of time researching the original Hebrew words of various texts involving animals, I just wish she had done the same for the Greek word "aion", and other Greek words, which are mistakenly translated in English as "Eternal" and not as a "Period of Time", as they should truly be rendered... and perhaps she could have seen the truth of "apokatastasis". Of course if those reading this review also believe in eternal hell and are animal lovers as well, then I am sure that "Do Dogs Go To Heaven?" will be a five star book to them....

Inspirational, comforting and informative
This book is a must read for all pet owners, and future pet owners. It is inspirational, first and foremost. Then, it offers comfort and solace to the pain of grief. And, there is much information to be had, as well. Worth a try, and you will read and re-read it, as a source of reference and comfort.

A Comfort
After the loss of my cat I was happy to find a book that told about God's plan for the animals. It is reassuring to know that we will be with them in heaven someday. I would have loved to read this book, as well as "There Is Eternal Life For Animals" and "Will I See Fido In Heaven" before my cat passed away. It is very interesting that the Bible tells us about the animals going to heaven, but many of us didn't realize it. All three books are good Bible-based research on the subject.

Cop to Call Girl

Cop to Call Girl
Norma Jean is an original, covering the days she was a metermaid in Los Angeles up to her peak days as a Beverly Hills call girl (when she met yours truly and subsequently appeared on the same talk shows with me). Besides doing the media circuit, Norma Jean is now living in Montana with her (former actor) husband and spends much of her time as a human rights activist with the worldwide internet pro movements.

TOTAL BRAVERY - BUT AN EXAMPLE OF STUPIDITY
How on earth can a girl think she could get away with becoming a call girl after being a police officer. What about ratting out the principles of your old profession so you can have the privilege of the new profession? This is the story of a girl who discovered virtue in prostitution and flaws with the police department. She reveals both in this very interesting chronicle of what really takes place in the prostitution business. I recommend you read this book so you can learn two lessons - prostitution don't pay and ratting out your own will not lead to a happy ending. This is such an example. I rate this publication five stars for honesty and depth.

Cop to Call Girl
Note about this author's past reviews - It amazes me that a woman who ran for Lieutenant Governor of California for the Libertarian Party in 1986 and got 90,000 votes would get any kind of opposition, despite the fact that she spoke at seminars for members of Mensa, the genius society!
