Absoulutely Amazing
I received this book for my 17th birthday. I am a budding photographer and I hope to become involved in the fashion industry when I leave school. This book is fantastic. The images as well as the style of the photgographers was diverse and interesting. Photographers featured include David LaChapelle, Mario Testino and Nick Knight. I loved it and I would really recommend this book to anyone.

An Excellent Resource
I used this book in a mythology class project and it was a great help. The book reveals a great deal of the Winnebago tradition through the history detailed in the stories. This book is well worth the money and is a necessary piece to any Native American collection.

The Influnce of GURPS Japan in my campaigns
When I read for the first time this book, I wasn't expeting too much, but it really surprised me. GURPS Japan brings to you a complete description of the social classes and the code of honor of the Samurai, the "bushi" of the legends and history in the feudal Japan. Is very cool meet a lot of friends and try to interpretate the honor of being a samurai, or to understand the essence of this marvelous game. The complete description of the weapons and the costumes is very interesting too.

Exactly right!
For the past two years the Montessori preschool where I am a volunteer has placed this book on display in October. What a wonderful book for 4-year-olds! The illustrations are a pleasure and add their own content to the story. It happens that the families are Afro-American, and an adult reader might conclude that Tommy is being raised by a single parent, but neither of these circumstances is central to the book, which is about adults looking after their children in matter-of-fact, but nurturing ways. You can't finish this without a smile, and you'll not object to reading it aloud as often as a young child would consider necessary.

First found out about this book while I was studying for my Journeyman Plumbers license exam.Found it at the library and was so impressed I ordered it from the publisher. Contains very much usefull information.Explains all about simple and compound offsets. Contains all the formulas you will need for performing plumbing tradework.I have the fourth addition and still consider it one of my best resources. I recommend it to anyone who is studying for their Journeyman or Master Plumbers exams or for anyone who would like to learn the professional way of performing tradework.

Natural Writer: A Story About Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings (Creative Minds Biography)
Published in Unknown Binding by Carolrhoda Books (E) (2001)
Authors: Judy Cook, Laura Lee Smith, and Laurie Harden
Amazon base price: $21.27

Inspiring Reading for Creative Youngsters
Creative youngsters of a somewhat higher age-range than the one recommended, about 8-15 years really, will find themselves inspired by the account of Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings' early struggle to find her forte as a writer, in this latest of the Creative Minds Biography series. Sprinkled with finely detailed, full-page charcoal drawings, it also draws an engaging parallel between the young Marjorie's life on a family farm and Jody Baxter's in "The Yearling." Marjorie's father Arthur Kinnan nurtured her love of nature just as Penny Baxter did for Jody, which gives us a fascinating insight into the true-life sources for Kinnan Rawlings' famous creations. The highs and lows of her life and career in rural Florida are then undramatically yet sensitively described: the book's tone is quiet and true, as clear and sweet as a brook in Rawlings' fiction.

Fantastic book
I should admit at the start that my mother wrote this book, and that I am biased toward her work. This is the seventh book in the Adam Joshua series, and one of my favorites. This book, and the series, details the life of my sister and I, plus a variety of other characters. Despite the book being named "Nelson in Love," (Nelson is actually Scott, my best friend for the past 13 years) the book is actually about my first true love. At the time Mom was writing the book, I thought it was romantic that my love was being immortalized in print. After all the years of suffering through her publicizing my periods of thinking I was Superman and running around in a cape, and my fear of monsters, and even my fights with my sister, I was finally reaping the rewards. That lasted right up until the moment we broke up. By then the book was already at press, and it was too late to change the girl's name. Some day my children (her grandchildren) will ask who Heidi was. My mother's personal dedica

Be a Nubbin Ridge Reader
This charming, humorous book is a refreshing portrayal of the mid-south in the first half of the twentieth century. The narration rings true, especially when the author looks at himself in a strong light and lets his own faults be seen. He takes us into a world that is fast disappearing, the American south before and during the depression. The world Milton Mason shows us in The Nubbin Ridge Reader is of the middle class, where deprivation means having only two kinds of meat on the table, only one car under the porte cochere, and copies of big-city dresses made on Mama's machine. At the other end of the spectrum is "The Best Wife in Oconee County," a hapless orphan girl forced into marriage to a man who rules her with an iron fist and uses the depression to justify his miserly ways. You'll find yourself mesmerized by the characters of Nubbin Ridge: the five sisters, their husbands and children, and the inhabitants of the town. You'll go with Aunt Belle to watch Gloria Swanson film a movie, live with Aunt Ione as she entertains her summer visitors from New York City. You'll literally taste Aunt Ode's strawberries, Aunt Allie's navy beans in tomato sauce, and Aunt Ione's Lady Baltimore cake. You'll partake in wine-tastings, Boy Scout meetings, front porch sittings, and gossip. In short, you'll laugh, cry, and be thoroughly entertained to the last page.

Songs and Tunes of the Wilderness Road
Published in Paperback by Mel Bay Publications, Inc. (08 December, 1999)
Authors: Ralph Lee Smith and Madeline Macneil
Amazon base price: $14.95
Average review score:

Dulcimer roots
I bought this book because it traces the history of the mountain dulcimer westward on the wilderness trail. Madeline MacNeil offers a map and directions and black and white photos to direct you on a modern pilgrimage of this trail, if you would like to experience the modern trail first hand. This is a trip I would like to take in the future. The history is straightforward and clear, and dulcimer tabulatures are given for tunes that came from different locations along the trail. Fascinating material to be used for entertainers, reenactors, storeytellers and dulcimer players. Audiences enjoy knowing brief histories and how tunes fit them. There are many early tunes in this instruction manual. The tab is clear and many early appalachian tunings are used. The only recommendation that I would make, is it would be nice if Madeline MacNeil and Ralph Smith had made an accompanying CD of all the tunes in the book. I would buy it!
