Ok, I'm Convinced!
I did not BUY the book, I did not READ the book, I am not a FAN of 'what's-her-name', and I think she is a spoiled rotten, rich slob!
I'm Convinced!!
Ok, you guys convinced me. I'm not going to BUY the book, I'm not going to READ the book, I'm not a FAN of what's her name and I agree.....She's a spoiled, rich, SNOB!
Have to agree with Jamie
I have to agree with Jamie on this review. The book was well-written, but I learned some horrible things about LeAnn. I was on the border of fan/disliker, and this book pushed me to the disliker side. LeAnn talks about ex-classmates as if they were all jealous of her. While some of those ex-classmates have stated that they hated her because she was so snobby about being famous. This book just really makes me feel disgusted that I ever liked LeAnn.
Bonnie Raitt: Just in the Nick of Time
Published in Paperback by Citadel Pr (March, 1999)
Amazon base price: $6.99
Average review score:
Disappointing
Being a hugh Bonnie Raitt fan one may imagine how excited I was to get this book. It actually is the liner notes from Ms Raitt's albums and various interviews she has given over the years strung together. Some of the text is taken verbatium off of liner notes.
Review of reviews
Instead of spending money on this book, just go back and read every review written on Bonnie Raitt's work, and you will get the same information. Mr. Bego offers nothing new and no inside information, no childhood background, no authorization or cooperation from the artist herself. Disappointing.
Not so bad as people here think!
Half way through reading this book I checked what amazon.com reviewers thought about it and I was very surprised with black-and-white opinions expressed here:seems that people find this book either the best biography ever written (which is not) or the worst biography ever written (which is not).I think that Mr.Bego did loving job, writting about the artist he obviously care for (no dirty sensationalism here) and if he used every available information he could (LP cover lines and so on) I understand that was the only information to be found,in his place I would probably do the same!As the book intrigued me to look for more of Bonnie Raitt's music,it did good job and even if its not the most exciting book ever written,it did provide me with some information about Bonnie which I didnt know before and it make me curious to listen ALL of her albums. Is that "the worst biography ever written" as the previous reviewers think?

supremes-rock and roll hall of famers
I personally thought this book was way over priced when you consider it's length is 112 pages.Hard cover or not I thought it was not worth the wait. There are a few pictures I've never seen before but I would warn any supreme fans not to buy it.
The Supremes (Rock and Roll Hall of Famers)
This book is written for kids, making it way over priced for this type of book. There were several pictures I hadn't seen before, but not enough to make it worth paying the inflated price. Buy it used if you want to check it out, that's what I did. Otherwise I wouldn't recommend it.

Unworthy Bio of the First Lady of Song
This alleged biography of Ella Fitzgerald is seriously flawed and not recommended. At its most basic, the book is simply not a serious biography written in a professional manner. For example, the author CONSTANTLY interupts the narrative to give the reader HIS opinions of each and every song she sings, her weight and even her wigs. Even the captions to the photos are annoying ("Still hiding her figure for Verve"..."Oh those awful wigs") This is not acceptable or serious writing for a biography. He also seemingly attempts to convince the reader that he knew Ella personally, sometimes referring to her (annoyingly) as "Miss Fitz." Another complaint: the author talks knowingly about live recorded concert albums leading the reader to believe he has some inside knowlege of a concert, when in reality he is simply relating what is on the actual album for everyone to hear. He also refers to others he supposedly interviewed by their first names ("Keeter" Betts, "Danny" Kaye). Was he really on a first name basis with these people? Of course, we don't know who he interviewed, or when he interviewed them, because there aren't any notes in the book to prove it. If you want a serious bio of the great singer, instead of this thing, I recommend the much-respected "Ella Fitzgerald" by Stuart Nicholson.
