Great information, rough read.
Lee presents great information, however, sifting and assimilating it into a cohesive program takes some doing. If you know your stuff it's worth the struggle.

Excellent Primer On Posture
Lee Parore's Power Posture is an excellent book covering the basics of how the body is interconnected by a complex system of nerves, muscles, bones, joints, etc.

The book was obviously exhaustively researched, and contains tons of diagrams, illustrations and instructions on how to keep your body in good, flexible condition.

The title may be slightly misleading to some (to its own detriment), as it really oversimplifies the entire book. This is
not a book that tells you how to stand up and walk straight. It emphasizes flexibility through a number of exercises, stretches and routines, and gives you an idea of why these are so important to do.

Unfortunately, the book starts to stray a bit towards the end, away from scientific physiology and towards more esoteric principles like "being grounded", spiritualism, Zen, emotional problems, etc. I call this unfortunate because the author does not make a clear separation between the scientific facts presented in the book and his personal opinions & beliefs. While I may personally agree with him on many of these subjects, his blending of scientific fact and personal opinion really undermines the integrity of the excellent research in other parts of the book.

Most readers will either agree with the author's opinions, or be able to guess where fact leaves off and opinion begins though. Thus, I would expect that most of you who are looking for a good book on the subject will find it a useful and enjoyable read. The author's writing style keeps you intrigued and entertained throughout the vast majority of the book, despite the sometimes dry subject material. Well worth reading.

Micheal Colgans early work
I had purchased this book after I bought Optimum Sports Nutrition, the difference between this book and OSN is startling. I find it hard to belive that the same person wrote both books. This is book is an early attempt to get the readers to realize that the vitamins and minerals and other essential nutrients that we need to maintain a healthy lifestyle are seriously lacking in todays (yesterdays?) foods. The book was written in 1982 and unfortunatly provides nothing more than rhetorical information, it reads too much like a story. I'm glad I bought Optimum Sports Nutrition before this otherwise I probably wouldnt have bothered to look at that book having seen this one. I hate to be the one to give Dr Colgan a bad review because I already have two of his other books (OSN and Nutrition for the Millenium both excellent books) but I hope some of you use this review as a heads up than as something to gauge all of his work. So to reiterate this shouldnt be the book that you first expose yourself to Micheal Colgans otherwise excellent work.

Five stars would not have been out of line
Five Stars would not have been out of line as a rating, except for the fact that the book was written so long ago(1982). The author cannot be faulted for "telling a story" that needed to be told at the time, or for the fact that scientific knowledge has advanced and so some of the information is now outdated. For its time, it was a phenomenally informative and useful book for anyone looking for both a scientifically valid rationale for individualized and complete vitamin and mineral supplementation and a practical guide to proper individual dosages. Its worksheets for computing individualized dosages are worth their weight in gold. I have been supplementing my family's diet according to Dr. Colgan's formulations for 15 years, (with modifications as new information became available or on the advice of a nutritionally knowledgeable M.D.) and have often recommended the book to others or given it as a gift. I am delighted to learn that it is still available.

Dr. Colgan's Book is Worth it's Weight in Gold
I have been following the guidelines in Dr. Colgan's book since it came out in 1982. I think the information in this book is as valuable now as it was when the book was introduced. About every 5 years, I review the profile to make sure that I am still on track with my vitamin and mineral intake.

I am 62 years old, have a lousy diet (lots of junk food), don't get nearly enough exercise and I am as healthy as a horse (I suppose I should knock on wood). I attribute this in large part to the fact that I am getting enough vitamins and minerals into my system thanks to Dr. Colgan.

I have not had a cold or flu since I started taking vitamins and minerals regularly; as far as I'm concerned they work. And Dr. Colgan's book will help you figure out the amounts that are right for you. It is the only vitamin book I know of that helps you establish the correct amounts; the only book that takes you and your lifestyle into consideration.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who will listen. I also highly recommend the religiously regular use of vitamins and minerals. If you don't take them regularly, they won't work for you.

Poorly Done
I have read forwards to books that are longer than this pamphlet.

Flavonoids are exciting compounds, but this booklet barely begins to tell the story before it is over. Avoid.

simply a "spellbinding" book ,it demands to be read.
The author takes what in less capable hands could be considered a dry subject, and breathes new life into it.It is the very definition of a "page turner".I simply could not put it down.It had me on the edge of my seat for the entire ride.More involving and certainly more intense than any book written in the last ten years.I can simply say "Bravo" "Bravo" to the author.

If you own "Optimum Sports Nutrition"... forget this booklet
I am a fan of Dr. Colgan's work and use "Optimum Sports Nutrition" as a nutrition bible. Being a Fitness Trainer, I have followed his work over the years and think he is the best and most accurate nutrition exeprt when it comes to athletes' needs. The only problem I have with this book is that if you own the book mentioned above or have followed his work, it is a repeat, and being a very small booklet, contains very little info... and therefore, definetley not worth buying... instead, I recommend that you invest in "Optimum Sports Nutrition" by the same author.
