I was reading it to find out some tips, yet it was a corny book. I didn't like it.

This book is more of a transcript of the 4½ hour long master piece of the documentary, but it's curtainly worth the money. Here you have all the still pictures from the hundreds of film Scorsese comments in his programme. A book for every filmbuffs bookself.

This extraordinary book on the last hundred years American cinema is an exceptionally well written, edited and researched document of the film, without any of the usual scholarly classroom didactics or conceited Hollywood self-congratulatory posturing. Scorsese's humble voice is evident throughout, and it is one of self-confidence, clarity and enthusiasm. It's a wonderful companion to the DVD.

Irrelevant one-liners and drawings from a bunch of underperforming pseudoinvestors with a superiority complex, written in a condescending grandmotherly tone. It was hard to keep a straight face while reading it. Save the wear and tear on your nerves by not reading this book. I didn't buy it, neither should you.

Sloppy cataloguing or misleading advertising? I ordered this volume since I was intrigued by the fact that Scorsese had written something I'd not heard about. What I received (for 35 bucks including shipping) was a rather sloppily produced catalogue for an exhibition in Livorno, Italy. It contains not one word by Martin Scorsese! However, the first
(double-page) photo in the book is from "Taxi Driver" and carries the identification "directed by Martin Scorsese". Okay - but that doesn't mean he wrote this book!

I don't know whether it was sheer laziness, incompetence, or a frank desire
to defraud that led you to list this item this way. But I insist that you
credit my Visa card with the amount you've charged me for this frankly
worthless item.
