Happy Birthday Nana!
A wonderfully evocative setting, cousin rivalry, and a Nana whoknows what she wants... "Nana's Birthday Party" is broughtto life with some of the best picture book writing and most delightful illustrations I've seen. This story will make many, many adult bedtime story readers remember similar stories of their own. A most enjoyable way to end the night.

a wonderful, joyful, fun story with even better pictures
This is a mesmerizing tale of a little girl who loves the park by day -- the fish, the stone lion, the open space. But the park really comes alive at night as she flies over it and enters into its magic. The story is told with simple text and wonderful and colorful pictures. Figuring out how to maneuver while flying is an exceptionally well-written detail. And the last piece of the story is just the ending needed. It's a basically fun book!

Old macdonald
My 20 month old daughter will not put this book down. She wants "e-i-e-i-o" nonstop. The book shows a family that works together and spends pleasant times together. It also shows a baby in bed with its parents and animals nursing, which we enjoyed. Each page has the featured animals doing many things that give the child and parent a lot to discuss. Fantastic!

My kids & I loved it and the book has special meaning to us!
My mom is German and my children call her "Oma." On 11/3/97, our beloved dog, Bo,
died. My children called him BoBo. The three
of us went to the library on 11/4 and there it
was, a wonderful book.....I knew this book would be special just from the title. And it was
truely a lovely book. We enjoyed the German
words in the text and some of the things that
happeded to Alice, BoBo and Oma was like
reliving it with my daughter, Bo and my mom.
I have my local bookstore checking if they can
order me a couple copies. This will be a special
book to give my mom. We all love and miss Bo,
he was "family." My mom and I have always
been close and even more so since her breast
cancer in 9/96. So, this book will be a treasure
to me too!

Gabrielle wants a purple coat this year, although she always gets a blue one. Gabrielle's mom takes her to see her Grampa in the city who is a tailor and who also makes Gabrielle's winter coat every year. While Mom goes shopping, Gabrielle tries to convince her Grampa to make her a purple coat instead. Good illustration and a fun story.

Personality and plums
I have the fortune of working with Amy Schwartz and was absolutely DELIGHTED to learn that she was the brain behind this particular book. I remember seeing it for the first time on Reading Rainbow as a kid and loved it. It's a humorous look at the age-old gripe between adults and kids: children who want to be grown up and grown ups who want to stay children. Well written and with simple art that is reminiscent of early American black-and-white engravings, BEA AND MR. JONES is a sweet story that should be read by every kid, young and old.
This book is excellent.
I think this book is a fun kid's book.It is well
expressed like many of the other books Amy Schwartz has
written. It is a fun short book. My favorite charecter is
Bea.
This book is about Bea and her father Mr. Jones. They
don't like what they do so they switch jobs.

Great read
Martin "Buzzy" Schwartz bares his soul on the ups and downs he has encountered as a trader. Like the books "Market Wizards", I couldn't seem to put it down. If you are looking for the holy grail in technical analysis, look elsewhere. If you are looking for a very entertaining read about the trading life, this is the book for you. He gives you the emotions involved, along with some sound tidbits on money management. I trade in the markets for a living, and truly enjoyed his candor...you will too.
One of the greatest.
Martin Schwartz is an incredible genius. This book is absolutely amazing. Once I picked it up, I could not put it down for a moment, I read the book within a day or two. Offers many great insights to the business, and also an amazing read overall. This is hands down one of the best trading books I've ever read, the only thing that comes close is Reminiscences of a Stock Operator and Market Wizards by Schwager, where Schwartz is interviewed in that among others. Martin Schwartz is the greatest trader Wall Street has ever seen, there are others but none so compelling as his story.
Excellent look in to the psychology of a trader
If you are looking for a book that will tell you how to be a day trader, don't buy this. However, if you have been trading on a small scale for a while, and wish to take your trading to the next level, then this book is perfect. It does not teach strategies or systems, and doesn't make any attempt to. What it teaches is what kind of mental fortitude it takes to be a top trader. There are myriad books on the market that can tell you how to pick a stock, or when to buy or short, but few that can teach you what it is like to be long when the market is crashing around you, or how it feels to know that tomorrow the banks may not open, and you have to get liquid, fast. Besides, if you read between the lines a bit, you may wind up finding a trading strategy or two in the story itself (not just in the appendix in the back). Here's a hint...compare how October 87 behaved to how September 01 behaved...and then remember what Zoellner said.

Compelling Story! Read it, read it, read it!
The book Ginger Pye was an adventerous book. It is a a very good book for me, an 11 year old, but not too childesh. The book is about a boy named Jerry and a girl named Rachel who got a dog by earning a dollar. They named the dog Ginger Pye. He was a very popular puppy in the city. He did some amazing things without being trained. One day someone stole him. They looked everywhere, and found a very suspicious man wearing a yellow hat. They suspect he stole Ginger. Will they catch the robber, and find their puppy? Read the book to find out! The author did not write the book in a very descriptive way. She wrote it so anyone who knows how to read it. I have one complaint about the way she wrote it. Almost half of the book is concerned with Rachel and Jerry looking for Ginger. Other than that, I loved the book! Don't judge a book by how many pages it has or what the cover looks like. The pages go by so fast, and the cover looks like a childesh book, but it's not. It is a very easy, yet interesting book to read. I would highly recommend the book. I liked the book, and I bet anyone who read it would agree with me. I maybe more like a 2-7 grade book. It was excellent!
An awesome mystery story
One evening, two kids, Jerry and Rachel Pye, are reading on their small veranda when Jerry asks if Gracie (the cat) would be jealous if he got a dog. His sister answers, "No". They work very hard for the dollar needed to buy a certain puppy with their three-year-old uncle. Ginger, as the young dog came to be called, is one of the most famous dogs in their town, Cranbury. Soon after, on Thanksgiving Day, Ginger disappears from the backyard. After Ginger's disappearance, one of Jerry's classmates is strangely unfriendly. (Could this be connected with Ginger?) Will the children ever see the famous dog again? I think Ginger Pye is the best mystery story involving dogs ever to be written. I really enjoyed this book and I know you will too.
The Best Dog Book I've Ever Read!
Ginger Pye is about a boy named Jerry and his sister Rachel. When Jerry decides he wants a dog, Rachel, Uncle Bernie, and him work so hard to earn a dollar to buy the smartest pup in town. On there way home from grandma's with the puppy a mysterious footstepper was following them. Then on Thanksgiving Day Ginger Pye is stolen. Could Ginger have been stolen by the mysterious footstepper? Or someone else? Where is Ginger Pye and will the Pye family ever get back their smart pup?

If You Made A Million
I strongly think you should read this book because it is funny. It has a wizard that does magic and he helps kids learn how to save their money. You should extremely like this book because the kids make things and they get money. They also babysit a giant baby for one thousand dollars. A boy makes a bridge and they do their chores. They also do incredible things.
It teaches children about money.
The illlustrations are fun. The text talks about situations to which kids can relate. The book gives some good lessons about money and how to use it. Yet, the book never bogs down. Children find it interesting and fun.
Wish You Were Here: Emily's Guide to the 50 States
Published in Hardcover by Bantam Books (1997)

Good Overview of the 50 states for kids
This is a book about a trip a girl named Emily took with her grandmother one summer to all 50 states. As they travel, Emily records her thoughts on each state as well as bits of its history and interesting facts (do you know which state boasts the largest watermelon grown?). Each state is covered on 2 pages. As a homeschooling Mom, I am using this book to spark interest in my 7 year old daughter as we study American geography and history. We are learning lots of interesting facts about what there is to see and do all over our country. I initially bought the book to help prepare my daughter for a trip we were taking through 3 states but found the book so enjoyable and helpful that we kept it and are using it in school to supplement our other material. Now if we could just figure out a way to take our own trip to all 50 states...
