WOW!! A forever card and gift all in one!
I was travelling to the Elkhart, Indiana area this week and stopped at Cracker Barrel to pick up a take out order. While waiting I browsed the store and "stumbled" upon the editor's Blue Mountain collection. The first one I picked up was to SON, then FRIENDSHIP, and although they weren't the only ones I browsed, they had the most impact on me because they both contained everything I ever thought I could say to my son and best friend (but haven't) and then some. I hope to eventually buy the whole series. What great gifts, and the cover/paper used enhances the words contained inside! Two thumbs up!!!

For any daughter, straight from the heart.
My mother got me this book during Christmas time and I have to say that I really enjoy reading it in my spare time. The poetry and works in there are everything a mother would like to tell her daughter about life without insulting her. I beleive that the things that are said in it are true and wonderful. Considering the fact that Susan Polis Schutz pretty much dedicates this book to her daughter, this book is straight from the heart to any daughter.

I enjoyed being challenged to think in new ways.
For those of you not familiar with Susan Polis Schutz she is a poet who lives in colorado and who comes out with a collection of word-songs every few weeks. At once searingly beautiful and closely haunting, Schutz manages to embrace both the incredible Divinity of (wo)MAN-person and his/HER Heart of Darkness. I feel that this collection has inspired me to reconsider my womanhood and the joys of Loving and Relating to others in Harmony. My husband gave it to me for my fifth anniversary and every time I go panning in Shulz's streams I come up with many new nuggets of poetry gold. I mean, think about it for a minuite -- how often do you really get the chance to confront the true Oneness of yourself? NOt often I think. And with Schultiz's words, how can you not confront this very Oneness?

Simply beautiful!
Me and my husband gave this book to each other on our wedding day, which was April 12, 2000. We both just LOVE these poems. The poems are reminding us of how special the little thing in life are... and how simple it really is to make each other happy if you are willing to make an effort for it. I can really recommend this book to everybody who wants to buy a romantic and useful present for the person you share your life with. Useful, because the poems are like guidelines for a succesful marriage. This is a great Valentine's Day of Anniversary present!

There should be a rating for zero stars.
This is not poetry, it's drivel. This is not a book of poetry, it's the diary of a sentimentalist. Substitute the words -Dear diary- for the title of each "poem" and you'll begin to see what I mean.

The Enduring Great Loves
To gain a sense of the "great love," one that endures and is made more in the design of those that require great sacrifice and that can produce great momentum through the fusion of two souls and their expression, it is first necessary to glimpse the potential and art that love can produce. Ordinary loves of today that focus upon partnerships or sex often fail to envision the full body of the developmentally well formed love that requires the work and investment that is likely to produce it. Endurance comes from that personal and emotional investment. Such great joy and delight doesn't require constant presence but a sense of togetherness that is a presence, committed and faithful, regardless of what occurs in daily lives. Love is felt first in the heart, and extended to the mind to develop its potential, to radiate within its glory, and to move mountains, whether they are seen by others or not. To envision that love is not possible without "giving in to love" without preconception to discover its transformational power. Great and historic poems have captured this essence and been successful in describing it though few understand its process and give credence to its effect. Love is always humble in its beginnings and in its maintenance, and unashamed in its expression since the crime is in not acknowledging its power. The sharing of love helps to keep the world a kinder place, a necessity for most, to feel optimistic and to be productive. How unkind a world it would be were there no love in the lives we live, and how fruitless and wasteful. The blossoming of love is the essence of beauty and expressed most clearly in the natural blooming of flowers, especially roses. The baby's breath combined with roses is to help us appreciate the special delicacy of love and how important it is to nurture those feelings, even in their tiny white purity that displays the passion and complexity of the blossoming flower of love which is enduring but can die without being appreciated or explored in its spiraled intricate interior. Poems like this help to reveal that vision for greatness, as traditional as ever.

"To have and to hold"
Well written. Well said. Well put. Well thought. In spite of the number of ways people try to express their feelings through saying I love you, this book has proven to be the final touch on the true meaning of love. No one needs to be poetic to understand love, to know how to love, or to be in love. "love and being in love as Suzan Polis Schutz describes it, "is being happy for the person when the person is happy". It's being sad for the person when the person is sad. But yet, it is also a mountain that is climbed with tears and crowled down with smiles. "I love you" is surely "a promise to support, cherish, understand, and share every aspect of yourself with the one you love". This book is it for those of "US" who are crazy in love with that special someone. Here is a solution to our sentimental problems. Allow these poems of Suzan ( her true love story with Stephen) to work for you. Only after reading this book you'll be able to figure out whether you are in love or ever been in love. Work with yourself as this book works for you.
