A must have for all people
Brilliant analysis to make you think. You make not agree with everything, but it'll make you think for sure.

Liberals buying this CD set?
I don't believe for a second that any liberals are buying this CD set...well, on second thought, they don't read books...CDs are probably easier. Plus Michael's name sounds like a heavy metal band.

Anyway, don't listen to the negative reviews. Michael tells it like it is. More conservatives need to do the same, and stand up to liberal IMPs.

As for the IQ remark questioned by a liberal reviewer, I can only speak for myself: 177. That's 4 times Bill, Hillary, Jesse J, Al Sharpton, and Al Gore's combined.
Chow!

A must have for all conservatives
This CD set is awsome. You won't believe your ears. Michael Savage tells the truth about way we as Americans need to protect out Borders, Our Language and our Heritage.

Buy it just for the color plates!
It's breadth of knowledge and splendorous photos will greatly increase your travel pleasure, because you really CAN see these animals just casually criss-crossing the country; you don't have to go to a special preserve.

In fact, another book I brought with me to Costa Rica last year, "Costa Rica : The Last Country the Gods Made," had a photo of a giant iguana that was taken literally 5 steps off the sand at the ultra-popular Manuel Antonio beach!

And guess what? I saw one when I was there!

Costa Rica, Reptile Place
I have spent a considerable amount of time in Costa Rica, and I found this book to be both accurate and interesting. The reptiles, the amphibians...they're all there. Costa Rica is a beautiful country, and this is a beautiful book. A+,

Best on Herps for Costa Rica
I have known the author for 30 years. He knows more about the amphibians and reptiles of Costa Rica than anyone I know. The pictures are spectacular. Kudos to both authors.

Cerebral Palsy: The Child and Young Person (Management of Disability)
Published in Hardcover by Lippincott Williams & Wilkins Publishers (May, 1992)
Authors: Lesley Cogher, Elizabeth Savage, Michael F. Smith, and Micheal F. Smith
Amazon base price: $49.00
Average review score:

Expensive, but worth it
This book, written in England, provides an outstanding description of the development of children and teenagers with cerebral palsy. The authors described the emotional, neurological, social, and motor control issues in a very clear and succinct way. I found this book to be more helpful in explaning developmental issues than several American reference books which are much longer than this book. I especially liked the description of the importance of play for young children.

Also good was the clear recognition that society unfairly puts the burden on individuals with disabilities to adjust to non-disabled norms, rather than making the adjustments necessary to fully integrate disabled people. For example, how many times do restaurant and hotel owners complain that it is "too expensive" to make their buildings accessible?

Well worth the money.

The Year of the Buffalo: A Novel of Love & Minor League Baseball

If you liked the movie "Bull Durham," you'll like this book.
I'm a female who has no interest in sports, so you wouldn't think this book would appeal to me. However, I love a good yarn about a group of memorable, loveable people pulling together to save their team and their town, and searching for love in its many forms along the way, and this book was that. But baseball fans would love it, too. I hear the author has written a sequel. I will be among the first in line to read about the ongoing lives of Tommy Lee, Dutch, the Chief, Billie Jo, and my personal favorite, Bruce Kelly, the wise and caring newspaperman.

A masterfully written story!
In this delightful tale Cook takes us deep into the heart and soul of small-town U.S.A., its residents and its minor league baseball team, the Buffalo. "The Year of the Buffalo" is a wonderful read--and not just for baseball fans. Cooks tremendous insight into people, love of baseball and mastery of the written word will grab your attention and keep you turning the pages! You will find yourself walking the streets of Beymer, having breakfast at the diner and rooting in the stands.

I couldn't put it down!
This small volume grabs you from the opening (a minor leaguer's unexpected entry into Beymer) and holds you till the exciting conclusion (I'll never tell!). It is a very warm and human tale set against the backdrop of America's Game in a small town that could be anywhere. I would truthfully recommend this read (and do) even if Marshall were not my younger brother

X Men & the Amazing Spider-Man: Savage Land

Actual title- X-Men and Spider-Man: Savage Land
This is a slim trade paperback that reprints issues #1-4 of the Marvel Fanfare comic from 1982, written by long-time X-Men writer Chris Claremont.

Parts 1 and 2 feature Angel of the X-Men and Spider-Man on a trip to the Savage Land, a prehistoric enclave. Illustrations by Michael Golden.

Parts 3 and 4 feature the X-Men team circa the Uncanny X-Men 140s, including Storm, Wolvie, Nightcrawler, and Colossus. Illustrations by x-artists Dave Cockrum and Paul Smith.

The story involves the love interest of Karl Lykos/Sauron. It wraps up stories from the 60s of Uncanny X-Men (Savage Land Mutates) and the 110s (Sauron, Zaladane). As always, Ka-Zar (a character in the Tarzan vein) is involved.

This book would make a good companion buy with either (or all) of the following: (1) the X-Men Visionaries: Neal Adams tpb, which collects the original 60s Sauron and Savage Land Mutates stories, (2) Essential X-Men #1, which continues the Sauron story and introduces Zaladane, (3) the X-Men Visionaries: Jim Lee collection - to be published Oct. 2002 - that tells the ultimate Zaladane/Mutates story (a truly excellent story about Magneto, the effects of violence, and many of the ethical themes of classic X-Men comics.

The artwork is good (Smith's later run on Uncanny is really outstanding). The story is vintage Claremont- not his very best, but solid. The themes of personal courage, respect for the natural order, and ethical conduct are all there, and it's a good introduction to the characters.

If you're a fan of late 1970s/early 1980s X-Men who's looking for more, you'll like this. I sure did. The Savage Land is always a fun ride.

If you're looking for an inexpensive comic collection for a young person, this is great. If they like it, I'd suggest following up with some of the X-Men Essentials collections or the Dark Phoenix Saga. The X-Men really are complex and powerful bit of American pop culture. Love them.

X-Men : Savage Land
This series features the original characters, the original team, in all-new adventures drawn and told in a manner reminiscent of the Silver Age era but incorporating some of the more sophisticated storytelling techniques adopted since then. Perfect for older nostalgists without interfering the current timeline. Plus, it's a good read that current X-fans curious about the X-Men's earlier days can enjoy too.

Good travel book
It's a good guide to Chicago. It helped me plan my trip, and navigate my way through the city. However, like any other travel book, some sites in Chicago do go out of business, and is still listed in the book. So, I suggest calling ahead or asking your concierge if the place is still in business. The book is a good starting block for your first trip to Chicago. It gives descriptive information on transportation through the city and suggestions on things to do in and around the city. The book is segemented into activties and then boroughs of Chicago, so it provides a good planning guide for your trip to Chicago.

Too much exaggeration
The contents in this book are not really new. The author tends to exaggerate things quite a bit. Examples in the book may be true, but grossly sensationalized and hardly applicable to any real world case.

Great book - concise and helpful
This book outlines 76 ways that small businesses often get in trouble with the IRS. A lot of these mistakes are very tempting to make -- in fact, one can argue that it's the tax law that's the problem in many cases, not the business practice. Nonetheless, the author makes clear the IRS position on these mistakes, and shows how damaging the mistakes can be when the IRS wins in tax court over the business owners.

Every small business owner should read this book. It's remarkably easy to scan and absorb, though the topics are often quite complex at their root. This book cuts through the complexity and makes clear what the dangers are. As the author writes in the introduction, "If things go wrong, it gets expensive. For this reason, you should know *where* things go wrong. Because usually they go wrong in the same place. To see your taxes doubled because you made the same mistake that thousands of other people made before you does not make good business sense."

Insightful Info about All Areas of the Tax Code
All around great advise that covers practically every area of the tax code for a small business. My accountant can always answer a specific question but he has never put all my posible tax issues into one big picture. This book does that!

It covers all the major areas of the tax code such as paying employees vs. contractors, entertainment and meal expenses, retirement plans, loans, and S-Corporations. In all these areas are descriptions of the tax law, how the IRS enforces it, and what can go wrong.

Ignore the low ratings from the tax anarchist. This book is 5 stars!

Savage Help Us!
I read this book in one night and I'm a slow reader. It was a fascinating read I just couldn't put down. When you read you won't believe it. The things that are going on in this country right under our noses is unbelieveable. Buy this book, read this book!

how to be progressive
we all want to progress, afterall, change is unavoidable. However, only conservatives realize that the only way we can change things is if we embrace and accept how things are- to go WITH the forces that be. The left doesnt ACCEPT the reality of today- let alone agree or disagree. C learly, the left is not working with reality.
"Progressives" should stop trying to CREATE something new by way of trial and error only to venture further into disillusionment and instead should DISCOVER the classical thinkers.
For example, the humanities-the sciences of man- (politics, philosophy, psychology, anthropology, sociology..) were once aimed toward discovering the nature of man so we can uncover the GOOD, TRUE,UNIVERSAL, and what is FREEDOM. Our normative values were to follow from our understanding of how the nature of self relates to the nature of existence. This was more than an approach it was a METHOD.
Liberal thinking, however, is undercutting this method toward the true, good, and universal in man. They instead try to justify their goal toward "equality" while disregarding the concept of "freedom" . Freedom becomes a FREEDOM FROM- no longer a FREEDOM TO or FREEDOM FOR. Values become relativized and humaness becomes an average.
This, In effect, destroys the method toward a science of man. Anthropology becomes reduced to a mere comparative sociology, the concepts of society are left undefined.
Someone should tell a liberal that it is never possible for society to be "value-free" no matter how politically correct you decry us to be. As long as there are those unable to reason for ourselves, society, father figures, EVERYTHING will always be implying some value to us. So please progessives, stop "breaking it all down for us" - it is not helping- and have faith in man. A reasonable man looks for truth- not contradictions. We are a capitalist, individualist nation for REASONS worth understanding..... there IS a nature of evil
etc etc.

Savage is the man!!
Brainwashed liberal idiots that regurgitate your liberal poly-sci teachers points of view really need to read this book. It may be one of the most important books that you'll read in your life. I have several liberal friends that are now conservative thanks to this book. The truth will set you free!!

Slice and Dice
Michael Savage is a brilliant satirist. Changing his original name and even his vocation, he has molded himself into a professionally vitriolic chickenhawk who broadcasts out of the most liberal town in America (SF, CA.) His vitriole is so focused, so reactionary, his dedication must be commended. He is tremendously funny.

Sadly, he is also listened to and even loved by many people. Not only does he pollute the airwaves, but he writes books, too. Being a funny satirist--a right wing hatchet man who'll say anything his ignorant fanbase wants to hear--his main crime is really the high exposure he receives, though this can be chalked up to the companies that bankroll him and keep him on the air and on the shelves. Is that liberal bias? Or is it capitalism at its finest and sleaziest?

Since he's not serious, Savage hardly even warrants qualification of his points and his rants. He is a crass comedian, and like most crass comedians who don't change their shtick or try to grow up, he, too, will be chewed up and spit out by the same machine that made him. Hello, the Andrew Dice Clay of pundits.

The Show is Good, The Book is a Disaster
When I was a kid I saved for two months and bought some used army gear via mail order. What a piece of junk. That memory of being ripped off stuck with me for over 40 years. Now I had the same feeling again when I bought this book ...., a book that is now in a garbage dump some place.

I listen to the Savage Nation often especially as I am commuting at that time. The show is excellent and entertaining, with a New York bite. He sounds like one of my friends from Long Island or New Jersey.

I enjoy the show, especially his stories about life in San Francisco, the bums on the streets, the illegal aliens, his old dog, the restaurants, his boat, the ocean smells, Fisherman's wharf, his neighbours, the Chinese food, the undercooked tuna, his Ph.D. at Berkeley, his mother, his father, life back in Brooklyn, his mothers cooking of the big high protein meals, his job working for his father, his friend's old Jaguar that crashed, the Land Rover that fell apart in Connecticut on the turnpike, the trips to the south seas, on and on. Get past the yelling and it is all very entertaining. You can tell I am a regular listener.

So I bought the book. What a disappointment. It is one of those short large font and very short sucker books. Charitably one can say it is a transcript of the show. Otherwise it is a meandering free mental streaming jumbled mess of his ideas. Frankly it is a poorly prepared book. Waste of money and one feels short changed, just like my mail order experience when I was a small kid. After hearing him on the radio and his constant harping about his 20 prior books I thought the book would be good. Believe me it went in the garbage can. The paper was better off on a tree.

My opinion of him dropped about 75% when I saw what he was selling. It is better than 1 star but just slightly.

My humble opinion.

Jack in Toronto

you liberals just dont wanna face the facts
Mr. savage wrote this book excellently in my opinion. he is a model of how all conservatives should be. I'm a conservative I strongly agree with him, the truth hurts and i'm not afraid to say that. Only intellectuals can get past the name calling to see his message the name calling serves to put them in their place. The facts he states are in fact true, if you would take the time to look them up. He did a great job on this book buy it read it understand it. Dont
