A great book -- and an unbelievable price!
Although slightly dated Managing Change has become a classic of the genre and a favourite of business schools. For good reason. The book comprises some of the most useful academic articles on change management published in academic journals in the 1980s and early 1990s as well as case studies. The latter are well selected and will help to generate furious debate in any group that studies them. Jick's own contributions provide balanced and thoughtful links between the pieces as well as several articles on issues like the role of vision statements and implementing change.

Any one interested in change management will need this book. Although there are no 'formulas' for the right way to introduce change programs, a thoughtful reading of the material in this book can only improve one's ability to implement change and to understand how others react to it.

Why four stars rather than five? The price of the book is unbelievable and (I suspect) hard to justify given the large numbers which would have sold in business schools. It's sad that no paperback edition is available for students either. I understand an updated edition is being prepared.

One of the great books on time management.
Professor Todd Jick, one of the great people in a respected field of time management, produces a great source of needed information. It talks about honchos of GM, Motorola among others, and helps you also with sales and brunches and things that can really improve your life in drastic ways. Professor Jick should definetley writew a second, because this one has really helpedme grow in many ways. He has helped many because of this book. Read it!

If you have no time for change management, this is it.
Professor Todd developed the book for his students at Harvard, using the case study approach. And ,of course, it is an excellent text to be used in the class room. But the beauty is that it is an extremely readable book, not heavy, not your typical book by a professor.

It conveys the concepts in a series of simple and elegant reading materials and cases. And it feels great to read case-studies about the inside workings of many corparate titans like Bob Galvin (Motorola), John Reed (CITIGROUP), Jack Welch (GE) and many more.

The book is great, but more so for people who do not come from the behavioural sciences or organization development background, but just plane business background. It zeroes in on and enunciates the key concepts of leading and managing change. It walks you through a series of cases illustrating not only what to do , but what not to do. And the cases have a tremendous variety to them ranging from merger situations to executives being brought in from the outside to internal organizational programs.

If you have time for not even one book on change management, this is it.

Basic, but might not be simple enough....
Although this book seems pretty widely respected and used, my usage of this book (which was a text for a course in political data analysis and not econometrics) was relatively infrequent. not discounting the need to state all of the maths involved in econometrics, I'd suggest that for a student new to the field, Studemunds "Using Econometrics" provides a better introduction on how to actually USE these tools (and a fairly good.... although not as good as in this book! explanation of the mathmatics, etc. involved....)

Perhaps for a Ph.D. student.... this might be a great book to have.... I like it.... I just like the Studemund better.... especially if added to by SAGE paperbacks when more specific information is needed....

Still the best
Gujarati`s Basic Econometrics is old (1995, 3th edition), but still the best introductory/intermediate text you can get for your money. Comprehensive, easy to understand, ideal for undergraduate students who needs not only a textbook, but a referencebook too.
Perhaps not the newest, but I am planning to use it as basic textbook for an undergraduate econometrics course. I could find another book, but this is the only one that, I am sure, my students will be able to understand without any problem.

Excellent reference book
Good for both students and graduates, this book offers clear description of concepts and equations.

Way too confusing
This book may be understandable for a professor. But as a student, it is way too confusing for a person who is just learning econometrics to grasp. A student can get really lost in this book. Overall, it is not worth the money to purchase

Not bad, but not great!
As an undergraduate economics student, this book served as a good reference for econometrics. While some basic information was omitted (which I would have found helpful), the book does an adequate job of laying out regression analysis, and its prerequisites, in a logical manner. The greatest sign of the value of a book, for a college student, is whether it is kept at the conclusion of a class or sold back. I kept this book, but I continue to look for an even better econometrics reference.

Essentials of econometrics- a professor's opinion
This book certainly has its good points; it is written in a non-technical manner which allows everyone the ability to grasp technical material; it also presents statistics thorougly before it introduces Econometrics. As an professor, the major weakness is that there are not enough applications in areas such as forecasting; there were also errors in the first edition which needed to be corrected, and there was perhaps too much emphasis in teaching Statistics(Some of it is irrelevant to

Econometrics). However, I would certainly recommend it.
