This is must read for all children and parents. The pictures and content is outstanding. She is very senitive and in tune. I believe that all the "Childrens Series" written by Doris Sanford should be put back in print and placed in all the public librarys and teachers classrooms.

I am not a survivor of incest, but of childhood sexual abuse, and yet this book was a source of great healing to me. I never told 35 years ago, but I feel this book would help any child to know that it's okay to tell. The illustrations were very beautiful and peaceful. The only thing in the book to draw a complaint from me was Dove telling Annie that she would eventually be able to forgive her father. I think that is something that should not be addressed, it is a personal choice that some of us may never arrive at, and puts an unfair burden on those of us who may never reach that point.

Excellent book for survivors of incest - for both children and adults who are in the beginning stages of the healing process. Just being able to say "it" to someone who will believe, be supportive, and encourage healing is a major step for most victims/survivors. It was truely a blessing to share this book with my 5 year old Godchild, and to express my joy of her openess to trust and her courage to tell. Telling is one of the most difficult things to do. And many of us wait far too to long to begin the healing of these painful wounds. Just one part near the conclusion: The Dove tells Anne that someday she will be able to forgive her daddy for hurting her. Some of us will never forgive the purpetrator expecially when he and many others in the family still live in "da Nile"!! Forgivenesss of self and learning to love in a healthy relationship are much more benifiecial to survivors!!

These small out-of-print books are wonderful. They are in a set and the titles include: "The Child of God"- this one tells the fruits of the Spirit and includes sweet, simple and accurate pictures that show the specific fruit in action; "The World of God"- tells the days of creation; "The Friends of God"- tells of some well known Biblical people and why they were considered friends of God (includes a neat reflective "mirror" at the end for the child to see himself/herself as a friend of God); and, finally, "The Names of God"-several names and descriptions of God and appropriate pictures demonstrating the name or character trait of God. If you are reading this review then you must have come upon these somewhere. They really are gentle books for small children. Well worth time spent finding them and reading and re-reading them to your children.

The format of this book provides an opportunity for adopted children to read about a fictional character, Brian, and how he feels about adoption. It is a positive perspective about some difficult challenges that adoptees face. It also provides a prayer by Brian after each of his comments about a particular issue.

This book can be a springboard for conversation, as well as a tool to help an adopted child deal with some of the challenges he/she might face. I would highly recommend it!

A therapist I know showed me this book and I had tears in my eyes while reading it. I'm buying it for my 2 granddaughters who are living this awful experience.

As a mother, it's hard to find the right words to say when your child is hurting. Doris Sanford takes grief to a child's level and helps parents and children alike to find a way to cope with the loss of a loved one. She puts feelings into words and Graci Evans illustrates with passion and beauty.

The story about Josh and his friend Tim dealing with the losses that young children inevitably face from the loss of a beloved pet to the death of a grandparent.

This book is a must have for anyone who works or lives with children. Every grief counselor should have a copy on their shelf.

Like all of Doris Sanford's books of her Hurts of Childhood series, this book deals kindly, sensitively, and personally with divorse. The book is about Jenny whose father and mother fight, then her daddy leaves them. Her teddy bear takes on the role of comforter and confidant as she shares her feelings, worries, and desires. What is most wonderful about this book is the way it adresses the feelings that children go through in this situation without preaching, blaming, explaining, and most importantly without a specific timeline. Far too often books seem to indicate to children that they should be over it all in a week or month, whereas this is far from the reality. It also covers many of the situations common to all divorces: mother dating, the child's often love/hate feelings toward their absent parent, the change in finacial status post-divorce, school performance dropping, and the remaining parent spending less time with them. There is also a list of suggestions to parents in the back of the book, one example of which is "tell the child how you feel even if you can't fully explain the feeling. Let him see you cry. Say 'I'll talk about it when I'm able.'" A must for any therapist who deals with children regarding divorce, and extremely helpful for children going through divorce themselves.

I purchased this book for my 9 yr old son. I found it to be an excellent tool for discussion for his feelings. The Questions he first asked me are approached in this book and the issues are very on target. I especially liked the ending of the book, forgiveness, comes when YOU are ready!! EXCEPTIONAL>

This book gives very accurate information about what it is like for a child to go to a foster home. It addresses the feelings of confusion, self-blame, loneliness, and hurt that all children in foster care experience. There is an excellent section of foster care facts at the end of the book. Illustrations are wonderful.

SRA was a horrible black spot in our society's culture. Few other controversies in America's history (except for the witch trials) have been so blatantly religiously slanted but the SRA scare. I'm not denying that there are and were sick people in the world who somehow get it into their heads that by ceremoniously harming undeserving individuals and killing innocent animals (for something other than food), they would be rewarded in the afterlife. But this is ridiculous, there have been christians who did this exact sort of thing but it is never called "CRA" and the same goes for every religion. Satanism in no way condones needlessly and ritually killing or physically harming humans or animals (within reason, I mean, an ant isn't exactly easy to avoid killing). This is so idiculous it's frightening that someone would write a children's book supporting the idea of SRA. I'm no fan of censorship, but frankly this is sad, the whole idea of false memory was based on stupid books like this that's whole aim is to put these images into people's heads as small children. There are sick people in the world, be they satanists, christians, muslims, pagans, wiccans, hindus, buddhists, zoroastrians, jews, etc. etc. ad infinitum.

I did not actually read the book (yet), but I have read the reviews. Be VERY CAREFULL when you insist that such abuse does not exist. So, there are no "officially" reported incidents of Satanic Ritual Abuse. Ever heard of some big Mafia guy getting busted? No. Why? People are afraid of the Mafia. Maybe that's the same reason why there are no "official" reports of Satanic abuse. Just a thought. Consider the possibility. The point is, just because it's not documented (by fallible human beings, may I add), does not automatically mean that satanic ritual abuse does not exist. To say that documentation of something (or a lack thereof), means that it definitely does (or does not) exist, is to insist that humanity is infallible. I can think of a couple of obvious reasons why authorities may fail to ducument this "officially." Fear is one of them. Extreme secrecy of the abusers is another. It is important to note that there are people who say that they are witnesses. Not all of them are going to have "false memory syndrome." Many are telling the truth, and it is our responsibilty to them, to ourselves, and to society to believe them. Maybe you can't prove that it exists. But you can't prove that it doesn't exist, either.

All things shall be revealed. This is true. This abuse exists.
Don't believe a word of the false memory organization. If your child reacts to this book---Know that something is very wrong. Get them help.
