a must have for the serious cruiser, a joy just to read as well.

A wonderful and entertaining resource book. It is filled not only with reference information for the cruising sailor, but geography, advice, local history and accounts of sailing (mis)adventures.

Well worth reading for anyone who loves the Northeast coastline - whether or not they have ever entered an unfamiliar harbor, short of food and fuel, just ahead of a storm.

This is a book aimed at children or novice adults.

There is nothing in it for an experienced microscopist.

Since Usborne books are geared for children, not professionals, it is written exactly the way it should be. My kids' classmates were fascinated with the pictures. The fifth graders were just starting to use microscopes and this book really whet their appetites. They went on to find more microscope books and information.

There is good info to be found in this book, but finding it proved to be much of a chore. There are too many other well written Access books out there to recommend this one

Bill Werber led an interesting life on and off the field in baseball, but this collection of anecdotes from the 1930s and 40s misses the opportunity for Werber to explain how he felt about one of baseball's biggest problem in the first half of the 20th Century: segregation. Werber was a vocal opponent of integration in the 1940s and openly opposed the selection of Frank Robinson as the first African-American manager back in 1974. If Werber could have explained his positions on these matters, this book would have made a lasting impression. Instead, it just sort of floats by without making any impact.
