I have been a paralegal specializing in landlord-tenant relations for a good number of years and I can recommend this author and his book whole-heartedly. Many times I have turned to it's pages. I believe I have quite a few revised versions and will continue to purchase every time he revises. Good work, Leigh, keep it up.

My child has a reading disability. I was given this book to review before allowing my child to have it. My first concern is would the book be morally O.K., fun, entertaining, and would she like it. I have to find ways to encourage her reading, and a book that reads like shakespear discourages my daughter from reading. However, once I read the first three sentences, I was hooked. The way the words flow, wonderful. The illustrations are capturing to the eye, wherein you can look at the pictures and it tells its own story. The story line full of fun, with a tale that dreams come true as long as you continue to do, instead of not doing, no matter how tall, how small; no matter how smart or not so smart. Its rare I find a kid's book I enjoy -- especially the illustrations, coloring, 3-D image, the details are great. My daughter enjoyed it and wants more "Hombeez" books.

This book is not written in a particularly sprightly style and yet I found it a work fascinating in the extreme. It starts at the very beginning , and I am sorry it only goes up to 1966. The chapter on the Non-Partisan League (1915-1923) was the most interesting. And Bill Langer had a fascinating career, the account of which was made more attention-holding for me because I used to go to the Senate gallery when I was going to law school in Washington and listen to his orations. Unforgettable, since unique. This is a great and memorable book.

This is the only Robinson biography I've read that tells me about the ballplayer and athlete - the others either try to turn him into a saint or a political figure. This book, while not ignoring his role or his image, places that in perspective and sticks with the story of what he actually did, rather than indulging in hagiography. And the revelations about what he actually did are startling.

Clare is a true poet, and strangely neglected currently it seems. Really he is one of the essential poets of the wonderful romantic era which includes Wordsworth, Shelley, Blake, Coleridge, and Keats. Why is this just about the only book of his work being published? I think you're lucky to find this one, and you can find many poems of his on the web to see yourself. Cheers

This book gives a great overview of the most well known silent films of the period. The movies that are considered true classics have their own page. It is well written and includes a bio of the most beloved stars of their era, and a complete fimography. Highly recommended for the silent movies buff.

The verse in this magnificent book is typical of Jeffers. I believe that they are most likely some of his best poems. His words will make you think about humanity's struggle to be free like the flowing sea that Jeffers so avidly describes. The metaphors and similes that he uses make me anxious to visit the Big Sur region, which is the topic of interest on the "California Poet's" mind.

Talking Out of Alcoholism: The Self-Help Process of Alcoholics Anonymous
Published in Paperback by Univ Park Pr (1979)
Amazon base price: $18.95
Average review score:

Robinson clearly gives an excellent description of the foundation of Alcoholics Anonymous. He describes the development of this program through the years, provides stories of alocholics, as well as the benefits of 12-Step programs. This book really helped me to understand the basics of Alcoholics Anonymous without technical jargon and confusing words. Robinson kept the book simple yet extremely detailed in every sense

I treasure this book. It's got all the feel of a modern zoo, right down to the graphics and the discovery-type layout. The pictures are in color, reproduced on glossy pages, and the picture-to-page ratio is nearly 1.5:1. The paperback cover is folded to avoid fraying, and I love the weight of the book - not heavy, but sturdy. Definitely a must for trips.
