There are people who find your children a great temptation for their sexual fantasies and murderous thoughts. That's a fact. All you need to do is read the long lists of child predators who have been released into your neighborhoods (you can go to your local police department and demand a list) to know that this is not paranoia. These people cannot be "cured," and often when one is captured for an abduction, they're often repeat offenders. There was something in their past that pointed clearly to the fact that they would become pedophiles, or one day be capable of murder. Arm yourself with this book and the study of cases and predator behaviors and you will be in a better position to identify risks and protect your children.
The words inside this book may be difficult to read; these pages tell the story of the many years of research Don and John conducted that details the thoughts and actions of men who treat children as objects of sexual pleasure. When I did the first round of editing on this book, I remember thinking how terrified I would be if raising a child in these times. Don and John were very close to their work and, at times, I had to tell them to back away, to be objective, but it was even hard for me to not loathe the people they were writing about. Finally, we came up with a book we thought told the story in a fair and helpful way that educates parents about the patterns and methods of child abductors/molesters.
Read this book and keep your children safe.

This book presents London in the extremes (rich and poor, powerful and powerless, etc.) as well as in the middle, mostly where it is today. London, founded as a remote outpost of a major empire, later became the centre of a much more vast empire, one of the extremes present in the historical development on the city. London was spared much of the turmoil which plagued continental capitals; London has been spared invasion and much upheaval, churning its way along a remarkable historical path.
Interesting stories, complete with paintings, drawings, and photographs, make up the main part of the text. One such story is illustrated below:
'King's Bench Prison, St. George's Field, circa 1800, by Pugin and Rowlandson. This building of 224 rooms, was renowned for the freedom of its inhabitants. It was quite easy to buy 'liberty' of the walls, and was a much desired place of incarceration. Women were allowed to live there, and traders such as bakers and tailors could move freely in the building--at the height of the gin epidemic there were at least 30 gin shops in the precincts.'
Another great illustration is contained below.
'The 1869 Debtors Act abolished imprisonment for debt other than for money owed to the Crown. It also provided that those who were already in prison for debt could be freed with their debts cancelled. This produced a rush of people anxious to be incarcerated for a few days so that their debts could be erased, and a good many people crowded into the last City debtors' prison at Whitecross Street. '
Both stories include a drawing or painting illustrating the scene.
Richardson illustrates contrasts current in each historical period as well as contrasts between the historical periods, i.e., London going from being a city of producers to a city of financiers to a city of consumers. Included also is a wonderful chapter, entitled 'Strangers to Our Shores' in which foreign perspectives of the city are recounted in an interesting style.
