A good translation!
This book, and the rest of the books that have to date been translated into French in the vampire series up to Tale of the Body Thief, are good translations. Be warned, however, that if you are using this book to help bolster your French, that the translator did take certain liberties, and sometimes things don't quite match up to the original English version. If you are using this book to help your French, I'd recommend you pass Entretien avec un vampire up, and instead purchase Lestat le vampire, if you can find it: the translation with Lestat seemed more consistent. If you're reading Entretien for pleasure, it's good as it is, and stands on its own.

The Gothic World of Anne Rice
Published in Hardcover by Popular Press (1996)
Authors: Gary Hoppenstand and Ray B. Browne
Amazon base price: $45.95
Average review score:

An unchartered decent through Rices literature.
The gothic world of Annne Rice is an absolute must have for both fan of the gothic, vampirism or scholar. The anthology is A direct rout into the marvellous world behind the authour. Not only does it convey an unchartered depth of her literature, but is also A direct approach to A more academic criticsim. This book is of universal appeal because it charts A thought provoking desent through her key best sellers. For any reaserching vampirism especially, or just fasinated by this tallented writer this book is essential. It provides integral essays which traverse themes of anthrapology, in which is discussed how |Rice's characters assume A place in modern society, through to her more historical novels. But more invaluable are the essays which discuss her infamous vampire characters. In these essays is disclosed the intrinsic roots of vampirism and the gothic, linking back to writters of the Romantic epoch. They also provide A rich source of information, which deals with the more academic side of the gothic as well as A direct insight into the novels themselves. It is well researched, astute and perceptive. With Rice's work rapidly becoming recognised for its academic appel this book provides A critical idiom of her work and deserves A place on the shelf of any avid fan of the gothic, vampirism, or who is just enchanted by the pen of this literary sorceress.

The G.W.of Anne Rice is a stunning look into the mind of A.R
This book takes you to a place where you can feel the passion of Anne Rices works.he is brilliant. What woundn't a person do to meet the creater of the Vampire Chronicles And The Lifes of the Mayfair Witches. She is incredible.

The First Three are always the best!
Allthough Anne Has somewhat lost her ability to write a good book. The first three of the "Vampire Chronicles" in one book is always a good deal!

The Vampire Lestat and The Queen of the Damned is by far her best work!

This is such a tresure to have and to start out with. When you start reading Anne's work.

Vintage Rice
Many people know of Anne Rice's "Interview with the Vampire" due to the popular movie starring Tom Cruise & Brad Pitt. But what some may not be aware of is that "Interview" is only one part of a much larger tale.

Rice has been at it for many years and the Vampire Chronicles span innumberable volumes by this point in time. A reason to buy this particular book is that it collects the first three, and most essential novels in an affordable single edition.

While Rice's future work suffers from sameness and lack of a good editor, this trilogy (Interview with the Vampire, The Vampire Lestat, and The Queen of the Damned) is filled with striking imagery and an emotional resonance that commands attention. You journey with these characters as they grapple with issues of good and evil, and search for the meaning of their existence... complete with sex and blood and explosions, all that good stuff.

The novels contained in this volume are hugely entertaining and shift through many different moods, perhaps all you ever need to know about Anne Rice - it stands as her best legacy.

The Vampire Lestat is a sensual, psychological thriller!
This book is simply excellent! Lestat is a vampire you soon learn to love. He is beautiful, and yet deadly. Another thing-Lestat always makes it in the end-unlike every other Vampire book. To all you other vampire lovers-this one's for you! It gets a little confusing in a few areas, but Anne Rice brings you right into the book with Lestat-like you're right there with him. You would think there would need to be a lot of physical sex for it to be good, but this has very little of it, and the sensuality level is still high. I love this book! @-->-- :)

Mayfair Witches
I have truely enjoyed the witch series, and do look forward to the next book to come out in this series. Both the witch series, and the vampire series are so spell binding that you feel like you are actually there, and living life or unlife with them. You are caught up in the spells, romance, and love of they're lives as they are. I want to thank Anne Rice for each of these series, they are as masterly written from the first word, as they are to the last one, and from book to book. Again I Thank you, and do look forward to the next books to come out in either of your series. Respectfully A Devoted Fan Marianne Alderson

This supplement to A.N. Roquelaure's erotica was very good. It gives insightful and resourceful information as to where the main characters come from.
