I've read many books about Reiki and give this one to my own Reiki I students. It had good, solid information and is written in a clear, understandable style. It also conveys the peace and wonder of Reiki's healing energy. It is an excellent investment for anyone who wants to learn more about the practice of Reiki.

A great reference for those just getting started in reiki, as well as a fine text for those needing reiki treatment. Good explanation of the intangible elements of energy work. I recommend this book to all with an inkling toward reiki!

This is not, thankfully, another generic book on "chi practice". Author Wen Mei Yu Introduces us to and instructs us in a very specific form of Chi Kung: Wild Goose Chi Kung. Yu was a student of Madam Yan Mei Jun, the legendary grandmaster of this popular and complex school of energy cultivation.

Every necessary topic is covered in this volume, including history (photos of Grandmaster Yan Mei Jun are included), philosophy (this is a Taoist school), Theory (very detailed, many diagrams with explanations), and of course the COMPLETE 64 movement Wild Goose form.

A note on the instructional photographs in this volume: every technique is illustrated by several photographs. The pictures do an excellent job of communicating direction, movement, posture, et cetera. Yu also takes the time with more complex techniques to show common mistakes practitioners should avoid. This is probably one of the best books on physical chi practice out there. I found it to be thorough but not cluttered. Every piece of information fit, and the author's descriptions and explanations were easlily understood in the context of traditional belief and practice.

Let's be short and to the point: To date, this is the best available book on Wild Goose Qigong. Wen Mei Yu's set of three accompanying videos, sold through her website, are also of the highest standard and all I wish is that other "masters" flaunting videos put forth the same production quality.

This book describes the philosophy and the practice of Wild Goose Chi Gung in a very clear and specific way that lay people can understand. She clearly describes the hand and other movements, the points of the meridians and the positions of Wild Goose Chi Gung. I highly recommend this book.

Dorothy Harbour has written a wonderful and easy to follow book that is great for beginners as well as more experienced people interested in protecting themselves from unseen influences. She takes you step-by-step through her easy to understand methods on how to protect yourself from energy vampires at work, including mob attacks, personal relationship energy vampires, and also other energy draining people such as salesman, and many more. She explains the importance of the chakras, how to open, cleanse, and close them too. This is a complete guide that anybody can use and see improvements in their life immediately!

I feel that there are many energy vampires out there. They are those who drain you every time you are around them. I have found this a helpful book to help me not be so effected by those who are out there who does this.

I have been studying the occult/new age for quite awhile. I have just recently become aware of the great need to protect yourself from psychic attack, especially if you are sensitive or into the occult/new age. Since I have been protecting myself my physical & emotional health has improved. From all the books I've been reading on the subject, it seems to all boil down to visualization exercises. I used to hate to do this kind of stuff but it's the only way to protect yourself from the unseen. It gets easier & more powerful the more you do it. I find this book has the most beautiful visualizations, it really helps you find one to embrace. This book also helps you realize that you are under attack from people close to you that you didn't suspect. It's not so much about how this happens, to find out how & why this happens I suggest reading "Practical Psychic Self-Defense" by Robert Bruce (that will scare you into doing visualizations for sure). I really liked "Energy Vampires" more so than "Protected by the light" I just wish it was longer! (I hope you write another book Dorothy, thank you!)

Penelope Jewell has explained in full detail the applications and the different uses of Reiki not only in the healing form, but also implementing Reiki into everyday uses in life. This complex healing art is brought to light through excellent illustrations and clear and concise explanation of each step of the many uses of Reiki.

Penelope's book is wonderful and practical and concise. She packs a lot of information into it's pages and makes it amazingly simple to understand.

It's a beautiful book, and the knowledge expressed in it feels as pure and the white cover with it's purple lettering.

Along with Diane Stein's Essential Reiki, this book belongs on the bookshelf of every practioner at any level and any client who is interested in knowing more about Reiki

Penelope Jewell's new practice guide for Reiki is one of the most clear and personable books I've yet seen on the topic. Simple line drawings show the placement of hands for both self healing and for working with others. Her inclusion of information on anatomy, physiology, and the metaphysical aspects of healing are a definite plus. Later sections, on running a healing circle and on finding a teaching Master, are both excellent guides from an experienced teacher. Jewell is straightforward in her knowledge and assumptions; and her reverence and respect for the system is grounded and inspiring.

This book will help many new practitioners deepen their understanding of the practice of Reiki. And since Jewell is a Master in the traditional branch of the system, it will also serve as insight into one traditional Master's work and understandings of this amazing healing art.

I showed the book to one woman (also a Reiki Master) who runs a wellness and healing arts center. Her comment was right on the money. "She's covered everything in this book," she said with tremendous appreciation. "You could TEACH from this book!" Indeed, you can.

This book really pleased several lamas I know, who were astonished to see these usually hidden healing techniques made so available and so user-friendly. These are simple but powerful visualizations for "soul retrieval" and physical and mental healing. They're written by a Tibetan healing master who gives the authentic Tibetan material in terms that Westerners can easily grasp.

Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche's Healing With Form, Energy And Light covers the five elements of earth, water, fire, air and space and blend a Tibetan tantric viewpoint with discussions of how each of these elements work in Taoism. Recommended for practitioners of Tibetan shamism and yoga.

Before I begin, I must admit limited objectivity in reviewing Bon Lama Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche's latest book "Healing with Form, Energy and Light" (Snow Lion). Because Lama Tenzin has been my gracious teacher for more than two years now, it is tempting to dispense with a certain critical distance. Much of the material in the text is taken from Rinpoche's teachings and small-scale textual resources. Yet as I paged through my new copy, it was like I was experiencing this transcendent wisdom for the first time. Thus, I am happy to announce that this work, his third major effort, is geared toward practitioners on all levels of practice, and from diverse spiritual backgrounds.
In the book's introduction, Tenzin Rinpoche gives a brief but helpful outline of the Bon tradition, an early Tibetan religion that has gradually incorporated, and also influenced, Buddhist practice. Among other interesting observations, Rinpoche explains that his tradition "suffered the fate of many indigenous religions, a fate similar to that of the religions of Europe and the Americans when Christianity was introduced." While such claims are not the central focus of this book, they definitely enrich it.
This book is a heartfelt, meaningful and well-written offering of sorts to whatever powers guide the exchange between East and West. Rinpoche, who founded the Ligmincha Institute in 1992, explains "as I spent more time in the West I began to see that there was a need to teach about the teaching, to explain how to develop experience and how to apply the teaching and practices to situations in everyday life." Rinpoche's humble yet beautiful book thus succeeds with practical hints that are a joy to read.
This book is about the healing traditions in Bon Buddhist shamanism, tantra and dzogchen ("the great perfection"). Western-style psychology is one of Rinpoche's interests, and he has participated in annual panels on East-West psychology. Thus, he discusses Tibetan traditions in light of certain western psychological theory. Plus, if you read this book you will gain insight into "Tibetan yoga": the tsa lung movements that open up the energy so that the breath flows freely in the body. The book's discussion of psychology alone is worth taking the time to read.
The sky blue volume focuses clearly and insightfully on the elements, and how elemental qualities manifest themselves in our lives. Through an increased awareness of the flow of these qualities, we can see a way to increased balance and peace.

William Lee Rand opens the way to exploring an exceptional world where balance and wellness unfold and we undertake the mission of healing our hearts and spirits. Rand shares a unique view of Reiki in this context and offers food for thought along the way.

Mr. Rand's book is an excellent coverage of Reiki, both for beginners and those with Reiki experience. It is very clearly written and gives one a new perspective on healing energies. Highly recommended.

A great book about how Reiki can be used to help heal the planet. William is a very perceptive author and the informaition in this book would be helpful to all Reiki people. It is clear that he truly loves Reiki and has expressed his best ideas and Reiki techniques in this book. I loved every chapter. I highly recommend it to everyone.

As a Fourth Level Reiki Master I was skeptical about teaching a four year old Reiki. However after reading "Reiki For Children" and seeing the children who trained from this book in action, my skepticism disappeared and I honor these wonderful children for a job well done. Dr. Wayne Dyer really practices what he lectures about . . . I
just heard him on a PBS special, in which he described how he
often sends those who write him a gift for no special reason . . . so when he graciously sent me his live lecture tape series, SECRETS OF YOUR OWN HEALING POWER, I rushed to listen to it . . . my reaction: WOW!

As is the case with any book or tape put out by Dyer, you'll be
inspired and informed when experiencing it . . . in addition, you'll be entertained (as was the group of chiropractic professionals fortunate to be able to hear him).

He emphasizes that the secrets to healing are not somewhere "out
there," but rather, healing is something that takes place inside each and every one of us, occurring when we "connect to our Source" and bring Spirit to the disease." He emphasizes that healers need to be able to banish doubt and see their clients as individuals who already possess the capacity to heal themselves. That is, those with health challenges need to have someone in their energy field who truly believes that healing can take place.

These other observations by Dyer also caught my attention:
Doctors when they misdiagnose . . . do they then agree to having
misbilled?

When you place a label on somebody you negate them. You then
begin to treat the label, not the person.

Four words will end all conflicts in relationships: You're right about that.

I really enjoyed the audio book. I felt Mr. Dryer had a good sense of humor yet realistic goals that we can all find our way to. I feel this book would be good for anyone trying to let go of past anger, disappointment, or pain. I have recommended it to many clients of our health library, and the therapists at our clinic are now referring clients to it as well.

Dr. Dyer has done it again. Combining the best of all spiritual traditions to understand the possibilities of self inner healing. Using his own real life experiences and relating his journey he takes us on a path of transcendence as well as transformation. A must for all who would seek to take responsibility for there situation in life and decide to begin self perfection.

From the first paragraph I was drawn into this book. Having just become a first degree practitioner, I felt an amazing sense of gratitude for the special gift that I have been allowed to share. While the way my master taught me is somewhat different from what was described, respect for differing approaches was embedded within the writing. A great deal of information was presented with an accepting attitude for differences. The true spirit and love of Reiki was apparent.

This would be the book I'd recommend to anyone first interested in the subject and to those who have been attuned. It is a loving treatment of the subject that sticks closely to the subject, and unlike other books on Reiki, comes with no baggage or axes to grind...just information of Reiki, its healing power, and the application of this power. This book has the best mental preparation for the student, by example, for the loving healing power of Reiki. Highly recommended.

Reiki Master, Amy Rowland, takes you step by step through Level I and II classes. She discusses the history behind this ancient healing method, and detailed hand positions are clearly shown through pictures as well as text. The section on practical human anatomy is excellent and goes a long way in relaying what ailments are helped by each hand position. This book serves as an extensive practice manual for students. The author even discusses how to establish a professional practice, so TRADITIONAL REIKI FOR OUR TIMES is also compelling reading for anyone who might consider teaching this wonderful healing art. Anyone who is interested in Reiki must own this book!

Frankly I was stunned. I knew nothing about Kundalini, and little about ecstatic experiences, but after finishing Dorthy Walter's "Unmasking the Rose" I was both enlivened, educated and inspired.
