An example more of that thing we called LOVE.
But isn't a simple word like the same word wants to explain. It's a beautifull Story, like " Beauty and the Beast", for me, 'cause Creasy -the strong man with a blooding past- is perfectly sense to everything that the little Pinta shows him. Of course, after of a planified attack to his heart, Pinta makes that Creasy seen through her eyes the wonderful that the word can be for all of us. In a book that I wrote (but it's not published yet), a twenty-five years old man is falled in love of his cousin of 9, but this guy it's not a pervert man, only he wish to stay very near of her for teach her everything that he knows, and love her, of course, but not sexually. The Pinta and Creasy's story is very similllar to mine, but bloodeless. At end, I believe that this book can send us a great message: that we must to believe in love, in every its forms, because in the future, it can save this hitted planet. (I'm sorry if my english it's not perfect, but seems that it's the only way that my apreciation of this book "se muestre" on-line.

Brilliant
I am both an ex-Legionnaire and a former body guard. I was amazed by the books accuracy and still wonder to this day if Mr Quinnell wasn't either a Legionnaire himself or a bodyguard. The sequel "A Perfect Kill" was equally wonderful though I was less enamored with the third book in the series. Unfortunately the movie starring Scott Glenn was a total disapointment and I only hope that they redo it at some stage. If you're looking for someone to play Creasy..... PS: Is the fact that Creasy is an anagram of scarey just coincidence?

Simple but a very effective writting style
This was the first Quinnell book that I had picked up. From the first page, I could see all the character completely in my mind. This book is the similar to the movie "The Professional" only in its bond between protector and protected. After that, this book will move you as if you had suffered a personal loss and were seeking retaliation.

Quinnell = Ludlum + Ambler
Welcome back, Creasy. In the sequel to Quinnell's tour de force _Man On Fire_, no time is wasted in setting the stage for ex-mercenary Creasy's latest project. His wife and baby happen to be on a flight to the States: Pan Am 103.

Creasy creates a project plan and executes it in sequential, ever-escalating fashion: exacting brutal, fitting revenge on the terrorists and organizations who killed his new family.

Quinnell represents the pinnacle of true-to-life espionage and 'wet work'. As this is a pen name, the true identity of AJQ is a mystery to most. Suffice it to say, he knows his business.

As I wrote in the review for _Man On Fire_, there is no better author in this genre than Quinnell. It is tragic that his books are (mostly) out of print in the U.S. It has taken many months to buy his out-of-print and new (via international) books and I've finally assembled the full collection of Creasy and non-Creasy stories.

All of them are five stars, period.

excellent -purchased all his available books on strength of
being a thriller/suspense reader this book sits in my top 20 as a result I purchased all his other books in the name of father I rate as his all time best book and snap shot is also excellent although it take a little longer.the only thing that bugs me about writers is why they use pen names whats the big deal??? if they write under other names chanes are we would but them as well which I did in the case od hagberg/flannery

A wonderful long overdue sequel to MAN ON FIRE
Rarely a writer could be so integrate like Quinnell who could put romance, love, loyalty, adventure, professionalism, friendship and heroism into one book and made the sequel on a par with its prequel, but Quinnell always did and always could deliver. I wish many readers could find this unfarely overlooked great writer with simple style but profound sentimentals. Creasy in MAN ON FIRE not only lost his beloved wife and daughter this time, but also created a second-coming youngman of his own, Michael Said, the orphan from Malta, might be worth developing into a great character of his legacy in the future novel?

Action
A.J. Quinnell's Siege of Silence is one of the most action-filled books I have read untill this day. This book shows how politics and old politicians can cause themselves excitement when it comes to wars and foreign countries. If you are not very familiar with what guerillas do and how much trouble they can cause, Siege of Silence is your book. A.J. Qunnell provides action, secrecy, mystery and even more action for those interested in such exciting topics.

I wish all American Ambassadors would be like this one!!!
A quick-paced tour-de-force, a hell of great book! After the whole embassy was taken over by the Cuban-trained terrorists, the American Ambassador, although a politically rewarded assignment by the White House, turned out to be a tough cookie, so tough that made the terrorists helpless even tortured him so ruthlessly. This story really enlightened me of how a man with true courage could standfast against the almost hopeless situation. The hero of this book made me think of Nelson DeMille's strong characteric creations in his WORD OF HONOR, THE CHARM SCHOOL, and BY THE RIVER OF BABYLON. A great book of true heroism!!

Top class writing and action!
In this book AJ Quinnell surpasses all expectations of what you would want in an action book. Clear precise to the point and technically superb you won't be able to put it down (I read it in two nights). You will find yourself drawn into tht lives of all his characters. You will be amazed at the expertise shown here and you will want to read the other books in his series. Quinnell touches and uses some very controversial subject for his books. But the subjects are never taken out of context or used gratuitously. I would heartily recommend this book to anyone, indeed anything by Quinnell just pick up experience and enjoy!.

A J Quinnell is a Master
A J Quinnell is my favourite author of all time. His ability to marry action/adventure while extracting deep emotion is unique. He has made me cry on a train in the past. He has a brilliant way with words - he constantly amazes me with his ability to get so much meaning in so few words in a way that I know no other auther able to do. I discovered him in 1989 with 'In The Name Of The Father'. I then went out and promptly bought every book he had ever written. I cannot recommend him highly enough. SnapShot was the next book I read and his story of Munger the photographer in VietNam is heartwrenching and the way the author brings two seemingly unconnected actual historic events together is superb. I cant say any more...just buy this book and while youre at it by all his other books - you will not be disappointed. If you do read any of his books please email me and let me know what you thought.

A perfect plot for the present Islam Phobia
Great insight into the functioning of the Islamic mind topped up with the ultimate in British Intelligence. It takes about thirty pages to get into it, but then you read it in one go. Great for all observers of Sauudi Arabia and the muslim psyche.

Muslims all over the world accept miracles readily, particularly when the miracle is associated with Haj. Quinnel has performed the perfect miracle.

A Camera-man with conscience of mankind, a great book again
Some of the books were simply great in portraying the veterans from the totally senseless and meaningless VietNam war, such as SLOW DANCE ON THE KILLING FIELD, THE VETS, WHITE STAR, POINT OF IMPACT. This one written by the great writer was not an exception. An American camerman witnessed the massacre carried out by the soulless GIs, and snapped him into a vigilante judge / assassin after the war, to search and destroy those guys one by one who not only murdered a lot kids and their families, but also seriously wounded him just because he didn't want to cooperate them with such ruthless murders. A great and unique read!

Interesting New Story
This is a very solid effort by the author. It gave me a bit of a chill during a few parts. This is an interesting story line. I did not think it would work as well as it did. After all the Vatican is not really known for this type of activity. Never less, the author pulled it off. I think the excellent work on the story line did it for me. There were no cheap, convenient moves here. You believe each twist and turn would "of course" be there. The cast of characters is a good one with some memorable lines and personality traits. A fun book that moves fast.

Great Book!
I read this book years ago, and loaned it out to only lose track of its whereabouts. I have been trying to find another copy ever since to no avail. I recall absoulutely being enthralled in the book. Wish I could find it!

One of the most exciting novels I've yet encountered.
What a plot! The Vatican, a little known Polish intelligence organization, a plot to kill Andropov, a defector and a nun... A story so complex and imaginative, it leaves you unsure of the fact that it is really fiction. It is, to me, beyond comprehension that such a book should go out of print. Being the only Quinnell work I have ever come across (since I rarely search out a particular book), I can offer no comparisons. Nonetheless, if you enjoy tales in the genre of espionage, you cannot pass by an oppurtunity to experience the wonder of Mirek Scibor's ironic journey. Set in the mid-1980's, we experience through this character worlds which we knew little about... the religious persecution in the homeland of the Pope, the evil underworld of the Catholic Church, the terrorist training camps of northern Africa, and the political elite of the Eastern Bloc. Even more, we see first hand the inner-struggle of a woman who has dedicated her body and mind to God; and how that commitment to holiness enables her to act counter to all of her instincts in an effort to realize His "apparent" will: The death of the Soviet Premier. Should you read "In the Name of the Father" once, you will surely read it again. It is both haunting and liberating, and I would prefer to believe that it is not entirely fabricated. Mr. Quinnell states most eloquently through his efforts that even the impossible can be accomplished, and that heroes are often found in the most unlikely places. And also, let us not forget, that everyone gets what they deserve.
