Really Great!
Bonnie Prudden does a really good job of explaining why people aren't fit to begin w/, and offers detailed descriptions and photos for the exercises. And the exercises are simple, can be done anywhere, by anyone. Well, except maybe for the 1975 Baltimore Colts. . .

Complete, safe, imaginative, fun exercise for people over 50
Bonnie Prudden calls people over 50 "the last fit Americans." By this she means that older people built their bodies to be strong and functional, by playing outdoors as children, walking to school, etc. Even if their fitness has declined, it can be regained. Ms. Prudden debunks myths about older people ("you can't teach an old dog new tricks," "all old people end up in nursing homes," etc.) and presents a clear, simple fitness test to use in taking stock of one's life and current fitness level. She presents her time-tested exercise program, relating exercises to specific problems such as "gardener's back," "stairs - going up and coming down," etc. Along with the exercises, Ms. Prudden discusses Myotherapy, the pain relief method she developed, and gives corrective exercises for many pain problems (migraine, sciatica, whiplash, etc.)as well as "immediate mobilization" techniques to use after an acute injury. Interspersed with more exercises are descriptions of pain problems related to various occupations and sports. For those who are chair-bound or unsteady on their feet, exercises that can be done in a chair are presented.

Teach Your Baby to Swim
I used this book 18 years ago to teach my baby to swim. Now I buy it for baby shower gifts. My baby could swim and dive to the bottom of the pool to pick up keys before he learned to walk! You could throw him in the water and he'd pop to the surface laughing a deep belly laugh! You won't believe how much fun this is. Basically, you start in the bathtub holding your baby close and you both go under water. Later you play "pass the baby" with a friend in the pool. Then the baby swims from person to person. All the steps are great fun!

Excellent, Practical Book On Swimming & Bonding
This book is helping me to teach a valuable, life-saving skill to my 3 month old daughter. Although it's an older book (3rd printing in 1979), it's quite progressive in its views of childrearing. The first couple chapters help one to understand babies, communicate better with them, and bond more strongly with them. The exercise and swimming how-to information is invaluable. Ms. Prudden covers different scenarios, like bathtub and pool, and shows you how to make the most of each. She discusses teaching children individually, and even tells one how to lead a group swim class. The book makes it obvious that young children really can learn to swim, and the earlier they start, the easier it is for them. I highly recommend this book.

myotherapy: Bonnie Prudden's Guide to Pain-Free Living
Bonnie Prudden was a person light years ahead of her time. What she had to say about fitness and injuries is still applicable today. Her techniques to reduce pain have helped me to get rid of my chronic back pain. This book is a must for reference and techniques that really work.
Surprisingly thorough!
I am very impressed with this book and have been recommending it to all my friends. Although the techniques described will not be learned in an instant, or on the first read, it should not be too hard for most people to figure them out from the detailed, thoughtful explanations in this book. Recently, I read a couple of books in the same vein that got me interested in the idea that chronic pain is largely created by muscle tension, so I was open to hearing her experiences ... and the conclusions she has come up with make a lot of sense. I especially found the corrective exercises to be *excellent*. I wish, though, that the exercises were presented together in one section .. it's a little hard to jump from page 20 to page 43 to page 67. However, this way of presenting it forces you to read the in-between text, which has much valuable information. I can't say much about the efficacy yet because I have only begun to apply it, but I expect it to be very helpful for my chronic "computer-neck" problems. Check it out!
Pain Erasure
I had intense headaches for years. My MD gave me pain killers. Chiropractors gave me temporary relief -- I'd have to return every two weeks or so. But using the methods in this book resulted in my not having headaches, now, at all! Also I once had a pinched nerve in my neck. A specialist gave me therapy and a traction unit as he said it would return from time to time. I used the traction unit many times. However, one day I was in such pain from the headache caused by the pinched nerve that I had used the traction unit three times before lunch but with one treatment it was gone and I have not had a recurrance.I am a firm believer in its usefulness! Bonnie Prudden"s other book "Bonnie Prudden's Guide to Pain Free Living" is also excellent.

Awesome book but a little dated
I had problems with computer usage. I tried wraps and cold packs and all...I heard of this myotherapy method from Stuart McRoberts "Brawn" (another book I recommend for weight lifters) who had back problems till he used this method. This book helped relieve the pain the natural way. The book is a little old but it works. She needs to update the pictures to make it clearer.
This book was the key to my recovery
After experimenting with far less-thorough forms of treatment (chiropractic, standard western (incompetent) medicine) for a mysterious condition that made my feet get floppy and some of the toes cramp excruciatingly, I remembered I had bought this book a few years ago. I pulled it out, read it, zeroed in on the problem and have virtually eliminated it from my life within a week of starting the therapy this book guides the reader through. (The problem had existed for about 5 weeks; longer-lived problems that are helped by this work can take longer to fully relieve.) For this little money there's no reason not to try it. Just make sure to follow the directions, and don't forget to do the stretching and conditioning exercises that are recommended -- they are integral to the effectiveness of the treatment. This is something you can do at home (even by yourself -- got a tennis ball?), whenever you need to. If you're in pain, don't pass it up. It is safe and drug-free.
This is a no-nonsense practical approach to pain relief.
When you're in pain, nothing seems too extreme in the pursuit of relief. Bonnie Prudden's writing easily demystifies the subject and gives a comprehensive way to reduce and in many cases erase pain totally. It works! It really works! The book is written in a personal and conversational style--clever, witty and wise. It is easy to understand and easy to implement. The exercises which are required in the therapy are unique in that they employ only full range of motion movements: some are not as glamourous as those of the spandex-clad exercise classes, but the biomechanical accuracy of Bonnie's stretches and strengthening regiments are based on decades of research and success. I thank god for having discovered all of Bonnie's writings and hope everyone receives as much benefit as my students and I have in our quest for a quality and pain-free life.
