I'm a big fan of Anne McCaffrey...usually. I found An Exchange of Gifts to be quite boring, and even though it was VERY short, I found it hard to finish. I usually finish one of McCaffrey's books in a day (staying up into the wee hours of the morning if I must), but this one took me near to a week. I guess, first of all, that this isn't my type of book--I prefer science fiction or fantasy that deals with some sort of issue, with a cleverly built world and lifelike characters. This book was more of a fairy-tale style, and I've never liked finishing a book and thinking gee, they all lived happily ever after, like I care. But that's what I did with this book. The main character was so uninteresting I can't even recall her name, and as for that Wisp thing, I'll just say ugh. But it was hardly the worst thing I've ever read, and certainly not as bad as McCaffrey's other fairy-tale, No One Noticed The Cat. (I've had some e-mails saying they were offended at my review of that one--well, it's just my opinion. I DO like Anne McCaffrey, I just don't like the way her writing has gone recently.) To anyone considering reading this book: if you want a taste of what I think is true McCaffrey, read Dragonflight. If you like wishy-washy fairy tales, read this.

I think this was an enchanting and charming short story. I normally don't read short stories, but the description was quite intriguing. It a little over 90 pages so I finished it rather quickly, but I loved it nontheless. I bought the book as soon as I had put it down. I admit MeAnn and Wisp's characters could have been expanded to make them more realistic, but the setting was beautifull described and the plot was completely original. This was the first Anne McCaffrey book I ever read, although some of my other family members have read many of her Dragonrider series. This book got me interested in her as an author and her other works. I wish the story could have been longer, but it stands out as it is. I highly recommend it to anyone.

I think it's wonderful book I,m not a reader but this was a wonderful love story of life I could not put it down. My daughter read it also and felt the same way.

This is the first I've read by Ms. Winston & it'll be the last! Prince Rafael of Thortonburg is certainly NO prince of a guy. He always jumps to conclusions & really rips into Princess Elizabeth with his hurtful accusations & recriminations. Although he apologizes soon after, the damage is done. I really think there should be more on-your-knees-grovelling before he's forgiven. Overall, this is the worst book I've read in the Royally Wed series so far.

Don't miss the 1st 3 books in the series: Alexandra in "Royal Baby on the Way" (ok start), Katherine in "Undercover Princess" (the best), Serena in "The Princess's White Knight" (not bad). The last book is "Man Mercenary Monarch" (its bad reviews warn me to steer clear of it).

This book had just the right touch! I've read most of the Royally Wed series, and this was my 2nd favorite! Keep it up Anne Marie Winston!

I loved this book. I thought it was funny and very well written. I could not but it down. If you like humor and romance I think you should read this book and read the other books in this serise. But I think you will realy like this book.
