This study guide is awesome!!
I just love this guide. I use it every day to start my day at work. It really gets me to meditate on God's wonderful word. It is so great, that I am buying it for a friend.

Kudos!
This book revolutionized my own Bible study time. The Quiet Time Companion uses several different approaches to freshen up personal study times. Weekly sessions may study a single passage, a character, or a word. Other sessions will look at the same passage from several different perspective or will spend two or more weeks on an indepth study of a section of scripture.

This multi-themed approach keeps your Bible study from becoming routine. You will not find a three month study of Leviticus. It cuts down on the theological/philosophic mumbo-jumbo giving straight but not dumbed down look at the Word of God.

Another innovative approach the authors used in creating this devotional aid is that the weekly sessions are composed of 5 lessons, giving you 2 days of individual study (the authors do make some suggestions) but this is an excellent opportunity to work in preparing your Sunday School lesson during the weekend personalized study.

The authors are to be commended! Bravo!

Sacred Honor: Colin Powell the Inside Account of His Life and Triumphs

Colin Powell is great, and so is this book
This book tells you every detail of the wonderful history of Colin Powell. This book is a must. YOU must book this book!!!! I read it, and you should. This book tells about the responsibility, courage, and bravery one single American had.. This is a great book to read during this time of tragedy, because it tells you the whole life of one of our American heroes that are working their behinds off, and helping President Bush a bunches! If you want to buy a book, then buy this book.

Facinating man who talks the talk and walks the walk.
I don't usually read biographies, however, I have always been interested in this man and his rise through the ranks of our military.

David Roth did a fine job, but then his subject was worthy of his efforts. I am most impressed with Colin Powell, and was glad to have had the opportunity to read about him from his childhood through his White House years. I am even more impressed after having read his life story, though we all know, he has so much more to give and so many more roads yet to travel. He is a most impressive man, a man who must be counted with other great leaders, a benchmark of success, and a man that all American's can be very proud of. From his humble beginnings to a distiguished military career, he has left his mark on world history with firm guidance and much forethought. How very lucky we are to have had him in this time and place shaping world policies.

A most enjoyable book to read!

Says all that needs to be said clearly and concisely
An excellent introduction to the turbulent period in Britain leading up to the First World War. The author divides his book into themes - constitutional reform, the Irish crisis, the suffragettes, etc - and makes everything much easier to understand than contemporaries must have found it. Solid analysis is combined with an exceptionally clear writing style.

FIrst-Rate Revision of Edwardian Historiography
As an Edwardian scholar and president of the Institute for Edwardian Studies ....I cannot recommend this book highly enough. It is a reasoned, objective, and insightful corrective to much that has been said about the Edwardian period by past historians. It is clearly written and first rate all around. If you have read George Dangerfield, The Strange Death of Liberal England, you will want to read this to get a more balance view.

It in Business: A Manager's Casebook
Published in Paperback by Butterworth-Heinemann (1999)
Authors: David Targett, David J. Grimshaw, and Philip Powell
Amazon base price: $54.95
Average review score:

Well researched, written and presented case studies
This book is a compilation of essays and case studies written by graduate students from three UK business schools. It's divided into four parts and comprises eighteen papers, each of which provides surprisingly mature insights into the topic being discussed given the relative experience level of the authors.

The major themes into which the papers are divided are: (1)Competition and Business Impact (consists of six case studies of commercial and government organizations), (2) Information Systems Planning (four papers), (3) Managing the IS Resource (four papers), and (4) Communications and Information (four papers).

While I carefully read each of the papers and thought the entire collection to be well researched and presented, my favorites are Part I, Chapter 6 "Technology opportunities for the music industry" (bear in mind that this particular paper was written from a British perspective and predates the issues that have arisen from the US DMCA), Part II, Chapter 10 "IT Based-business process redesign: theoretical foundations, examples and critical assessment" (the subject matter reflects my personal and professional interests and this particular paper is consistent with my own experiences and approach), Part III, Chapter 13 "Ensuring the disaster recovery planning process delivers business continuity - the experience of a major UK retail bank" (excellent material from a real case that exposes the scope and complexity of DR and BCP for organizations that require high availability), and Part IV, Chapter 16 "Appraising investment in IS infrastructure" (business-oriented and should be read by IT infrastructure managers).

If you're involved in an IT strategic planning initiative that is attempting to align IT to bushiness this book contains case studies and essays that will generate ideas as well as expose challenges. If you are a service delivery practitioner the material will give insights into business issues that need to be taken into account when developing a service level management approach.

genuine analysis, real debate and biased conclusions
David Powell and Tony Benn have approached a serious political theme in a serious and professional manner and have come up with a well researched (although this shouldn't be to difficult for lifetime left wing intellectual and politician Tony Benn) and debated analysis of the role of the left in the new age / new century.

The result is a work of "genuine analysis, real debate and biased conclusions", in a nutshell, a great piece of political analysis and commentary.

Rod Powell's Flame Painting Techniques
Published in Paperback by Motorbooks International (1997)
Authors: Rod Powell and David Fetherston
Amazon base price: $19.95

Very good book on Flame Painting
I have known Rod Powell for over 35 years, and he is one of the best custom painters around. Rod is never afraid to try "New Things", which shows in his excellent flame jobs. I was in the custom paint manufacturing business for many years, and would bring samples of New Products to Rods shop. The book shows the proper techniques in laying out the patterns and masking the design. His use of 1/4" masking tape for the design is the best way to go. I was a custom painter/pinstriper since 1955, and Rod's work has always stood out from the others. He worked a lot with Andy Southard jr, another well known pinstriper from the 1950s. I wish I had saved photos of my work as Rod has done, which shows creditability to his work. You can't miss on this book, even if you use spray cans. The technique is the same.

Custom paint enthusiast
Excellent book for the beginner or professional custom spray painter. The book is filled with colour photographs of the various flame painting techniques and styles. The book also includes three step by step tutorials, with +/- 20 photos per tutorial on flaming cars and motorcycles. This book is definately good value for money and I'll recommend it any day to any spray painting enthusiast.----- Paint long and prosper.

excellent custom paint style
this book has some of the finest examples of car flames published, with most of them is full color.

Mr Jones reviews
Generally an excellent book with many worked examples. Unfortunately there seem to be a few irritating errors. One error concerns section 13.3.1. The cost function in this example is set for a bandwidth of 1Hz. This is also indicated in Figure 13.70. However, the parameters a,b given in Figure 13.71 (and those found by the search algorithm) are correct for a bandwidth value of 10Hz. Incidentally, the third edition (student edition) of the book seems to be made of thinner paper than the second edition. I feel the book makes rather too much of quantisation effects and sample rate selection. It might be better to replace these chapters with a new chapter on model predictive control.

Digital Control of Dynamic Systems done right!
This book excellent for anyone interested in the Digital Control of Dynamic Systems. This book is Reccomended as a tool for Matlab implementation of control Systems. Very good book!
