I found this particular guide book to be one of the best I purchased - and I bought a few. It was very accurate and up-to-date on prices, phone numbers, attractions, hours and general information. (Although that was June '96 and I'm sure that "Frommer's Ireland on $60 a Day" is more accurate money-wise.) It really helped me to plan my vacation and I was able to see most of the places I wanted to without wasting time or money. It has a bit for everyone from the pub scene to literary interests and everything in between. I especially like how Frommer's tells you how to get the best value for your dollar but where you should splurge if you can. Hope I run into a few of you when I next go to Ireland!

I used this book for my trip to Ireland and found it very accurate and so informative be it food/b&bs/cars-driving and tourist sights. The tips were great and the whole trip was just smooth sailing due much of this book. I highly recommend this book to anyone who might be heading to the Emerald Isle.

I bought this book, and several others, in order to prepare for my first trip to Ireland. It was the only one I should have bought!! The prices were incorrect, but inflation happens. I would highly recommend this book to anyone planning a vacation to the Emerald Isle! Don't waste you hard earned money on any other books or maps! Save it for shopping. I spent even less than the $50.00 a day, and had a wonderful time. I saved so much, that I am going back again in a few months!!

I am the owner of a web site dedicated to authenticating movie posters and I find this book worth every penny and more.This book is terrific for both the young and old collector and is awesome referance material.I actually find it odd that someone has not compiled this amount of information long ago to help people understand collecting movie posters and what it involves.If you would like to start collecting movie posters this is definately the book for you....sincerely "Mymovieposters" ... authenticating movie posters from 1970 to present!

This book is just the thing for either a beginner or expert on collecting movie posters. The different sections allow you to go straight to the subject you need information on immediately. I personally loved the section which lists the different artists and the posters they have done. Also of great interest is the section on preserving and displaying your collection.

Part I is excellent reading on the History of the Movie Poster and the books moves on to address the collection of movie posters.

I found this book to be a delightful read. It portrays a picture of a fascinating variety of 19th century American women who had all been influenced by the writings of Emanuel Swedenborg. The different ways that they found to contribute to society during a time in which women were not always listened to is interesting and inspiring.

Useful place to begin your collection. Teaches the history of movie posters, lobby cards, press books, and other movie memorabilia. Can help you not get taken.

This book has some beautiful pictures to inspire you to visit Ireland (something that Lonely Planet, e.g., lacks), but has little else to recommend it. The information on where you should stop consists of about 5 sentences; not enough to help you decide if you want to stop or to assist you once you are there. We were in Ireland for 10 days; during that time, we found this guide useful for about 5 minutes, when we were trying to find Cliffs of Moher. Not a very good investment. For beautiful pictures at no cost, search the internet instead.

The two guide books I would recommend are Lonely Planet and the Blue Guide. (...) Finally, make sure you get a good map once in Ireland, if not before.e

Since I was going to Ireland on a self-drive vacation, when I saw this book on the shelf I grabbed and bought it immediately. I studied the book before leaving the US, deciding that several of the tours suited my needs. What a disappointment, however, upon getting to Ireland and trying to actually use the book. Directions from the book itself were not very helpful, we got lost several times, only finding our way back using a regular road map. The book mentions Routes that have no signs posted anywhere, so it was hard to know if you were going the right way. I agree with the reviewer who pointed out that there was not nearly enough information about each suggested "stop" on the tours - hard to decide whether it was worth it or not to make the 10-mile detour to check things out. I could have also used some kind of description about the road conditions, such as if it was a mountain road, straight, or with many curves - those things definitely affected driving times.

This book is a wonderful resource with a person familiar with the type of tour and terrain one wants to travel, NOT for the first-time Ireland visitor. One must be comfortable with the road-marking system and road conditions of Ireland, and one must have a decent comprehension of what one wishes to accomplish during one's visit for this book to be of help at all. That having been said, for the person who is traveling back to Ireland because they just can't get enough of the lush landscape and the many, many things to do this book is a great asset and time-saver. It should never be used as the primary or ONLY resource, however, for visiting Ireland, but it does give one wonderful ideas on where to visit and how to plan a trip
