A great book if you loved the ABA!
I very much enjoyed this book, as it brought back a multitude of memories. I lived in Colorado and during my middle school and high school years, I followed the Denver Rockets/Nuggets. They were my team, and this book caused me to wax nostalgia. The book is filled mostly with quotes from those most closely involved with the ABA. The black-and-white photos were also great reminders. Terry Pluto's writing and summations are a quick read. The book gave me the feeling the ABA is still highly regarded and fondly remembered, red, white and blue ball, etc., etc.,. Fun and nostalgic as far as I was concerned.

The only book needed for the ABA
Great information about the good, the bad and the ugly of the ABA. Shows how the pro basketball turned from a stodgey, center oriented game, to the game of Michael, Magic and Kobe.

Fascinating description of Maris and the Yankee season
I can't believe the publisher didn't put a paperback edition out in the wake of the McGuire/Sosa home run chase, considering the renewed interest in Roger Maris. The authors produced one of the better written sports books. Despite Kubek's obvious love and respect for Maris and the Yankees, he doesn't get too gushy. Sports junkies will get their share of play by play descriptions and those interested in a personal look at Maris will be rewarded. Kubek doesn't ignore how the team is doing which lends authenticity to the story. Baseball mixes the individual and the group levels so both are included. Kubek also discusses and interviews the other players, but the book revolves around Maris.

Weaver on Strategy

Classic primer on strategy
Obviously, a great book, long out of print (I hunted it down for years). Weaver is both in depth and general, and this creates a problem - is it for the casual baseball fan or the die-hard baseball fan? O's fans will love the unintentional trip down memory lane. Statnerds, batter-pitcher matchups were new once.

Title is Misleading
This is NOT a book about Michael Jordan. He is only vaguely mentioned on a few pages. If you are looking for Johnny Kerr's autobiography, then this would meet your needs. However, I bought it for my husband, a Michael Jordan fan, and we were disappointed.

Excellent.
this is a fun run back through the great old Bulls stories, with Red Kerr's special take on the happenings.

Roland Lazenby

Before Michael and the Dynasty, there was "Big Red".
Terry Pluto relays, some hilarious stories as only Bulls 1st Coach, Johnny "Red" Kerr can tell. The first Bulls parade in Chicago was not as large as one would expect, it consisted of a flatbed truck, Coach Johnny "RED" Kerr, the team owner and a real live Bull. No Kidding!!

Enjoy stories of banging with Wilt Chamberlin, trying to figure out Bill Russell, how "Red" would have guarded Kareem Abdul Jabbar, and the Genesis of Da Bulls Dynasty.

Johnny "Red" Kerr is a master story teller.

Read and Laugh on.
