if you are interested in light twins, a must have
I have bought multiple books prior to flying & buying aircraft. All usually have a nugget or two of information. This book is loaded. Not only with data but pix.I have used it every time I have called to inquire about a piper twin I was interested in. I would have spent the [$] just for the help in differentiating from Comanches, Senecas, Apaches, and Aztecs Excellent resource.

Book about films is far from boring
After reading Jim Piper's "Get the Picture? The movie Lover's Guide to Watching Films," I must say I was quite pleased with all that I read. Being a person who not only watches numerous films, but also creates films of my own, this book broke down the many elements of film into an easy, understandable, nd interesting book that describes to the avid movie-goer what everything they see on the big-screen actually means. From analyzing musical soundtracks, to distinguishing between different lighting techniques, this book gives a first-rate explanation for every nook-and-cranny the film industry throws towards and audience. What was great about this book was that not only did it tell me what a specially designed shot or thematic piece of music represented, but it also accompanies with such information with pictures, as well as lists of movies in which the chapter's discussion can be found for viewing. The author obviously is a first-rate independent filmmaker himself, and while all of the information is thoroughly explained, it is written in a context that all ages from high school and up will easily understand. I particularly enjoyed the chapter on realistic and formalistic film styles. I received this book as a Christmas gift last year, and while seeing the learning potential in it, I read it, and I was extremely satisfied with what is has to offer. I know that after reading this book, you'll never look at a movie the same way again!

A Good Read
This book could very easily have been a dry, scholarly Film Appreciation 101 text. Fortunately, it's entertaining and written in a breezy style. Another good point is the use of popular contemporary films as examples. Yes, Orson Welles and Akira Kurosawa are mentioned throughout, but so are The Fugitive and Enemy of the State. Highly recommended.

A Great Film Go'ers Handbook!
This is a fine film text, It shows the average film goer how to better to understand the sublety of story-telling that is employed in the medium of film, with engaging and easy to understand examples. that allowed me, the average film goer to better enjoy my film going experience. I highly reccomend this book.

My grand-daughter has become a Cub addict!
I bought this for my 20-month-old grand-daughter on a whim, and it has become our special book. We go to the airport almost every week, where she examines the Cubs and lesser aircraft. (If asked what any other airplane is, she replies: "Maybe a Cessna.") She has two plastic cups for earphones, or she borrows mine to listen to "Arnie" (the computer voice of NOAA weather radio). She has a plastic bucket that is her Cub; she sits in it and cries "Brakes! Cracked! Hot!" while I spin the prop. Then I have to take her around the pattern for a few turns until my shoulders give out.

Oops! This was supposed to be a book review. Well, the book certainly worked for me, since now I have a chum to visit the airport with. The paintings are more remarkable than the text (Helen can pick out the bungee cords, magneto switch, throttle, joystick, the major control surfaces, and even the compass). After a few readings, I tailored the story to a two-year-old's attention span, and now I don't read the words on the page at all, but the story that we have created over the past four months.

what's a piper cub
i'm a might biased, as i was raised and nurtured with a 1946 j3 cub..with my dad in the rear seat and myself in the front..i was convinced at 7 years old that i was the pilot!...with that said,, i found mr weaton's book both innocent and charming...and purchased it for my 10 year old daughter...who will hopefully become a fledgeling aviation enthusiast!...she loved it...and i am happy to have it as part of our collection

A BRILLIANT WAY OF WRITING TO REACH KIDS OF TODAY
This book twists the old midevil legend of the Pied Piper. It is very interesting. I even enjoyed it and I'm almost 12 years old. Though it is much better when you have the author of the book there to read it to you (he came to my school today). I think sinse I enjoyed it it wiil be even more enjoyable for younger children.

A charming new take on the old tale of the Pied Piper
Author Jim Latimer not only has heard of the story of the Pied Piper of Hamelin, like most of us, he knows that the story can be traced back to Heinrich von Herford, a Dominican and a historian, who wrote the tale down around 1450. Herford told of a event that supposedly happened on June 16, 1284 of a mysterious flute player who appeared in the town of Hameln (apparently Robert Browning added the "i" 400 years later; you know how poets are, especially ENGLISH poets) and led away all the children of the town because he played such strong alluring music. Latimer knows that the rats were added to the story in the 16th century but what he does not know is much about the music of the 13th century that would have been so alluring to children. However, Latimer has discovered that the music found near Ennis in Ireland, in the region north of Limerick, near the Slieve Aughty Mountains, in the Lakelands of County Clare, especially as played in the villages of Tulla and Feakle, is music that may well have charmed children and rates. Consequently, Latimer puts together these pieces and comes up with the story of an Irish piper from County Clare who arrives in Hamelin just as the town is despairing of disposing of its rat population. However, rest assured, the ethnicity of the piper is not the last of Latimer's twists upon this popular tale.

"The Irish Piper" is NOT intended as a first exposure to the fabled story. To fully appreciate this one you have to know the tale, or at least think you know the tale. Jim Latimer's version gives the tale a new vitality aided and abetted by John O'Brien's stylish pictures. If you recognize O'Brien's distinctive style, it is probably because he has frequently contributed cartoons and covers to "The New York" magazine. As for Latimer, he usually writes books about Mooses, which is a reasonable topic when you live in Minnesota.
