A particularly vibrant and happy tale for beginning readers
A Day With Nellie is a delightful picture book written and illustrated by Marthe Jocelyn for young readers about the numerous choices young Nellie must make in her day, from what to wear to what to do. Strong, playful color illustrations resembling paper cutout models make this a particularly vibrant and happy tale for beginning readers.

Simplicity is a treasure!
My granddaughter (a city girl) and I snuggled
on the couch to read Jam and Jelly ... it was
a precious time to see the beautiful illustrations
and read the story of a family working together
well. Their hard work was more like an adventure
than a chore, and encouraged exploration and
respect. My granddaughter and I will use this
book for years to come as part of our bonding
and love for God's beauty in creation. The
hype in today's world seemed to fade away as Trisha
and I shared some precious time together exploring
with the author (Gloria Whelan) and illustrator
(Gijsbert van Frankenhuysen).

Living With John and Alzheimer's Disease
This book is a day by day process from symptoms thru diagnosis to solving problem as they arise. An excellant self-help book by a spouse that has lived with the problem for 14 years. It is a story of loving one's mate to the bitter end by keeping the "sickness" part of the marriage vows. I highly recommend this book to any caregiver that needs comfort, support and suggestions to make their lives and their loved ones more comfortable.

A Hollywood legend under the spotlight
Nellie Bly has done a superb job in documenting the incredible life of excess of one of the greatest actors ever. Brando is presented objectively throughout the book and the movie information, Dag Drollet murder case, sexual/marital escapades, battles with obesity, make for a hugely (pardon the pun) entertaining read. Alot of the content will shock the reader, but like most Hollywood icons, what we see on the screen is totally different than what they really are. 5 stars well deserved.

The most excellent autobiography I've read in ages...
This was a completely personal and revealing work. If you are a fan of Anderson's voice this book will soon become one of your favourites. I couldn't put it down (I know that statement is cliche-ed but it's the truth). Anderson had an incredible struggle establishing a career as an African American opera singer, but throughout her life she treated everyone she encoountered (despite the cruelty and racism of many) with dignity and grace. Her autobiography is indicative of her supreme modesty and love of music and the human voice as the most divine instrument. If you buy it, you will be enchanted. I particularily recommend it for people studying voice.

A tribute to a Great Woman!!
This is a great story about a little Irish woman who endured so much through her lifetime. From her struggles to get here from Ireland to her times battling the elements heading west. She was truly a remarkable woman who had great determination, compassion for others and faith in God, something that is uncommon in today's society. Anyone who enjoys western history should enjoy this book.

P.S. - And for your information Tom Moore, I am Ron Fischer's son, so before you make uneducated false statements, do everyone a favor and get your facts straight!!

Nellie Wildchild

Author: Emma Blair
Amazon base price: $15.45
Average review score:

Nellie Wildchild
This was the first EMMA BLAIR book I'd read, I couldn't put it down. I have read 6 more of her novels since this one.
She writes in the style of Catherine Cookson with more gutsy details.

At first you'll laugh being out with Nellie Thompson and her friend Babs at Saturday night dances.
Nellie falls for Frank, but he's a Catholic. Her father is furious; they want her to marry Jim.
After Frank is forced to leave town Nellie relents and marries Jim, what a mistake she's made!
