A terrific book
Over 200 beautiful color photographs.. stunning. Cloth Emerald green cover is beautiful, too.

A look at the pacific NW from unusual angles.

A Great Gift
Purchasing a first class photographer's books, when well printed, is a unique opportunity to own fine art at bargain prices and makes an outstanding gift. Morton Beebe's Cascadia is an opportunity to acquire world class photography and an outstanding visual essay on one of the most dynamic areas in North America at an incredibly reasonable price. The first class Japanese printing contracted by Harry Abrams illustrates some of Mr. Beebe's fine pieces with an exceptionally high quality. Among the photographs which are highlights of the book include a stunning skyline of view of Seattle at sunset, an exceptional graphic image of the Washington Mutual Tower, unique photographs of Orca whales, an beautiful view of Echo Bay in British Columbia, portraits of the logs floating outside of a Washington mill in winter waiting to be cut up with seagulls overhead and on the logs and numerous other exceptional photographs. If you have a friend or member of your family who's interested in the Pacific Northwest, Cascadia is an excellent candidate gift.

Stirring autobiography of one of God's true pioneers!
Rock Priest is a very challenging and inspiring book about evangelism among the "Global Youth Culture"! It has challenged many, many people to do more to reach out to the darkest corners of secular society. A highly recommended read.

No Longer Music's frontman is an inspritation !
This is one of my fave Christian books, as david writes with such honesty and warmth. His adventures in missionary work are astounding, and he makes us all give Thanks to God and be humble. David and his family have survived many harrowing and dangerous moments while spreading the Word of God, and this book is a very personal account of David's purpose and strength in the Lord.

Take it in moderation
The book is clear and describes a lot of interesting exercises but doesn't translate into a realistic program.

For instance, in the chapter on "Backpacking, Hiking and Snowshoeing" you are supposed to work up to a routine of 23 exercises. Since most of these are for 2-3 sets of 12+ reps, if you take six seconds per rep, this works out to 55 minutes of actual exercise time--not including any rest intervals or time to switch weights, etc. Seems like a lot of time to train for, well, walking.

A good book for choosing rehab & injury prevention exercises, but I wouldn't base a whole fitness routine on it.

John

Great book but rather technical
Love the book and it's advice but yes, it IS technical and there is alot to go through. Great for general guidelines and specific advice on particular sports and exercises. Plenty of stuff you can do at home if you don't have access to a gym. I'd recommend it to anyone in training!

Excellent Overall Guidance & Specific Training Tips
The word "comprehensive" seems very fitting for "Conditioning for Outdoor Fitness" because the volume packs in a lot of background information on physiology as well as specific training regimens for particular outdoor sports. I particularly value the icons for different sports used to identify exercises that are particularly valuable for the sport you are preparing for. The final chapters provide focused training regimens for specific sports, which are cross-referenced to the exercise descriptions found in other parts of the book. The book also provides valuable tips on functional exercises that focus on combinations of muscle groups to achieve more practical training than the muscle isolation process used in many weight training machines. All in all, this is one of the very best I've seen for sport-focused training.

Great Concepts
Although this book describes a very old version of Pegasus Mail software (good e-mail client for huge institutional networks), it is written well enough to be useful for today's E-mail newbies, describing the concepts of Internet E-mail. It also must be said that Pegasus development is slow enough, thus this book will be actual for most recent version of Pegasus (except a promised version 4.x which did not came out yet [14-Oct-200]). The authors of the book worked in close cooperation with the author of the software, and his view on the things, as well as a very interesting history of program development can be found in this book also. You will be an expert in Pegasus Mail after reading this book.

A quick read by one of the best.
I was looking through my collection for something fast and witty, and I grabbed this book. This book is no heavyweight and its not Mr. Thomas' best (I think Missionary Stew is his best), but it does deliver the goods. It reads fast and has some snappy dialog and a satifying plot. Ross Thomas was one of our best action-adventure writers and is sorely missed. The fact that many of his books are out of print is just plain wrong.

Not what I thought but good basic book
I read a review of the book in a industry magazine and it described it as useful for a professional financial advisor, as the title also implies. It turned out to be a pretty basic educational book with general but basic financial information. A good book for a beginner or someone who is just beginning to break into the financial services industry, but not necessarily for a seasoned professional.
