The importance of an Scientific Emocional Education Book
Claude Steiner is a recognized writer in this théme. Actually we have some opinions of emotional aspects of the human being, most of them not related to scientific psychological concepts. Steiner gives to teachers and health staff a new way to recognize the human potential to love and truth. Reading this book we really can learn and teach others: how to stay with persons,in confidance and respect.

Good if you love Iranian Fiction
I had to read this book for an Asian and Middle Eastern History course at the University of Pennsylvania. This book is composed of many short stories like Mirza,Abji Khanom, etc. The writers are some of the best fiction writers Iran has produced.A good book is you like to read about fiction etc. This book gives you a good idea about writers in a foreign country and also about Iran. Some stories are about the secret actions of dissident Iranians as they challenge their own repressive government in order to bring democracy to their homeland.Others tell of the religious life in Iran.Overall, a good book for all people interested in History/Iran/Literature.

Deep description of Iran people
I found this book very interesting. Actually I bought the book to know more about Iran people and more or less I could see better. This anthology spread from 1921 to 1991, an enough comprehensive to review Iran literature, especially in short stories, a new genre in Iran literature.

A boon for the mature martial artist
Unfortunately, anatomy and physiology is not commonly taught in martial arts classes. The need for some knowledge of these fields becomes more apparent the older the age of the student. Not only does the older student take longer to heal from injuries, but repetitive stress injury becomes a real possibility.

This book addresses these issues in a forthright, helpful manner. Perry Sensei has put together a collection of text, diagrams and photographs that illustrate the common ways that even seemingly simple moves can be executed in a fashion that can cause injury.

This information is totally applicable across the divisional lines of modern martial arts. His Shotokan background speaks as strongly to my Tae Kwon Do training as to his own discipline. I highly recommend this work.

An interesting read
I decided to give this book a try a couple months after the passing of my father. His image never appeared to me in the mirror, and I had no success whatsoever for several nights. Then one night after having been unsuccessful at the mirror gazing, I had the most memorable dream of my life. I'm a little shy to admit this, but the dream was lit up by a bright shining light and telepathic communication. It was better than any sci-fi movie. To this day I keep asking mysyelf, "Was it really just a dream?" Anyway, different strokes for different folks. Judging from the reviews, this is a book you'll either love or hate. I enjoyed it very much.

Historical reunions - Moody set a course for a happy future.
Raymond Moody, one of the fathers of the modern-day metaphysical resurgence continues to share his learned insight through this book, Reunions. Life After Life, Moody's preliminary look into the afterlife was expanded in Reunions by Moody's look into the use of the Psychomantium both historically and currently.

After covering The Nature of Visions in Chapter I, Moody gives a quick and informative review of not only the Greek's use of their underground psychomantiums in Chapter II, Gazing Through History, he also delightfully touches on other gazing forefathers such as the Tungus shamans in Siberia with their copper mirrors, the Malagasy of Madagascar, the Pawnee Indians of North America, the Africans of Fez, and the Nkomis tribe of Cap Lopez to name a few.

After grounding the reader in the history of gazing, Moody shares his own experience in selecting property and adapting a gristmill in Alabama into his own therapeutic psychomantium. He relays personal experiences as well as those of his visitors/patients and left this reader with the impression that the use of a psychomantium, wisely done and well directed, could easily lead to lessening of grief and an increase of spiritual insight. Thank you, Dr. Moody.

Valuable for those willing to push the envelope
I was surprised at the few poor reviews, and can only suggest that people who don't like this well-written, courageous and informative book are those who are consciously or unconsciously afraid of the unknown, don't trust people who aren't, or who need a narrower definition of reality to feel secure. That is fine for them, but this book deserves a more open minded look. It is an unusual topic and as such is certainly not for everyone. But Reunions is well balanced between science and the mystical, and Moody's generous and well thought out suggestions for reproducing the experiences he reports offer hope for those who are interested in what can be a healing if not mind-expanding experience. Moody goes out on a limb here and I applaud him for doing it, and doing it so well. This book should be considered a classic in its field, and one I a glad to have on my bookshelf. I have recommended it to many.

If you liked Stalin, you'll LOVE "History of Eastern Europe"
While the book was helpful in learning basic geography of eastern Europe and had many humorous comments, I had a hard time getting past the blatant sympathy for communism. The section on the Soviet Union, for example, described the "widespread discontent" brought about by Stalin's collectivization of agriculture. A cartoon showed a sad farmer wearing a barrel with little straps. There was no mention of the tens of millions who died as a result of the intentional destruction of their seed grain, nor any mention of the purges or slave labor camps. The authors implied that while communism was "unpopular", capitalism produces "unemployment, homelessness and destitution".

America was described as an empire exactly analagous to the Soviet Union and it's puppet states.

The authors did concede that Joe Stalin had corrupted the idealistic dream of Marx and Lenin.

Lots of info, sometimes confusing, some glaring omissions
The history of eastern Europe is extremely confusing. Some pieces of land have changed hands more times than anyone can remember, and the whole Yugoslavia thing sends most people reeling in confusion. This book gives a broad, *basic* introduction to eastern Europe: who lives there, how they got there, how various empires have played Monopoly with them, and where they're going now.

This is not a comprehensive text -- it is a summary guide! Some have tried to read more into it than appears on the surface, but I'm stumped as to how one can do that given the very basic information presented.

My biggest complaints are: 1) the authors left vast gaps in some very important periods (such as World War II), which leave one wondering how the story got from "A" to "B"; and 2) Russia gets the lion's share of attention, where the remaining eastern European countries have only a few pages (or less) devoted to them. I understand that the small size of the book made it necessary to save space, but perhaps a bit more balance could have been achieved.

Overall, a good *basic* introduction to how things got the way they did in eastern Europe. If you're like me, though, and love to have details about things, you will probably be happier with a more "scholarly" history book on the subject.

A Good Basic Overview of the Balkans
OK, I know this isn't the most in-depth and accurate book on Eastern Europe (nobody claimed it was textbook level), but it is a good overview for someone who is interested in the basics. I was given a copy due to my job (all I can say is I work for the government), and I found many interesting tidbits in it that I didn't know. I have traveled and lived throughout the region, and wish I had found this book years ago as it would be helpful for those not familiar with its history. And please don't criticize any events or issues that may have been left out, all written history has its shortcomings and inaccuracies! Overall, this book does a grand job and showing how Eastern Europe got to its present state!

A bad way to begin learning a programming language.
Like the title suggests, the book is fast paced. It quickly goes through basic principles and then gets into heavier data structures. Inadequate time is spent on the harder material, and there are no exercises anywhere. It is not possible to gain a working knowledge of C from this book.

Good for a quick reference library
I've used this book in preparing a three day "crash course" in C. I found the reference material invaluable when creating my presentation. The easy access to information and the clear, concise descriptions were just what I needed when preparing slides. I would recommend this book to any moderately experienced C programmer who has to teach C to others. I have also encountered one of my peers who used this book to learn C and he found it extremely helpful in learning C from the ground up.
