A classic work on kites-essential for an enthusiastic flyer
Pelham's Book of Kites is the most essential reference for any person who is interested in the history, construction and flying of kites. It shows a large variety of designs and ideas for kites of all sorts. The actual construction techniques are sometimes left up to the reader to figure out but there is enough information to work from. Well worth the search for a copy. There is no way I let go of mine!!!!

Family favorite
My son is now 2 years old but became obsessed with this book at about 18months old. He begs for the "cake book" almost daily. The pop-ups are incredible and the storyline is both clever and fun to read. It is especially a favorite for grandma to read since she is the heroine in the end...

A perfect gift for any child!
This is the one of the cutest children's books I have ever read......I'm a grandma who is always trying to get my grandchildren (Kelly and Mac) to say "Cheese" for my camera. They will be delighted with it.....if I don't decide to keep it for myself, that is. The book is the shape of a wedge of cheese. The pop-ups are clever and beautifully illustrated, and the text is humorous.

Excellent for Teaching Nursing Students at my College
This is an excellent source of learning all about the human anatomy (inside and out). At my college, they are using it as a teaching tool for Nursing students, most of whom found it to be extremely helpful. What students like is especially the life-size figure, which make it more easily to retain in their memory for years to come. I believe that all teaching institutions should use it as a teaching tool to benefit their students. Also, all hospitals and doctors' offices should own one of these life-size figures. GREAT TEACHING TOOL.
Great for learning and decoration
The Dimensional Man anatomical poster is great for any lover of the human body and who wants to become more familiar with it. The poster has over 200 anatomical parts and includes a chart showing what each part is. I strongly recommend this poster to a lover of anatomy, a doctor, or a student. ENJOY

The Human Body
I enjoyed using this book to teach my 3rd grader about thedifferent systems and functions of the human body. I especially likedthe moveable features of the display models, they worked remarkably well and gave better understanding to the lessons. The text, although a most of it is in very small print, is more than adequate for teaching. I even learned a LOT! A nice resource!

Ecellenct book for learning ABC's with unusual animals
All 3 of my children have loved this book. Although the pop-outs are not extremely durable, they are colorful and the animals are not those which appear in most ABC books. Learning ABC's is improved through interest and repetition, and this book provides both. Happy Reading!

Portrait of the Artist by a Fan
Although I've fallen off a bit on my drive to read all the Wodehouse ouvre in order, I can feel my juices beginning to bubble up about it again after reading this delightful biography of the master. I don't know what to think of Jasen as a biographer--I tend to believe that he's a poor one from the showing on this book, as he tends to simply list events in Plum's life, interspersed with excerpreted letters by and to Plum. And Jasen makes no bones that his book is an unbiased study of Wodehouse, from the subtitle to the treatment. On the other hand, I don't konw how you could treat Wodehouse in any other way, for he truly had lost any malicious bone in his body at approximately the age of 25, as if mean-spiritedness was a baby-tooth that one lost and promptly forgot about.
I bought this book years ago for its secondary bibliography, listing all the stories and books. With something roughly like 90 books to his credit, sometimes with similar titles between novels, different titles for American or British publication, and all eminently re-readable, it's quite a chore to keep them straight in one's mind. With an accurate list at hand, the only problem is finding the damn things.
I believe Frances Donaldson has written a more traditional biography (did I read it back when I first discovered Wodehouse in the stacks at the University of Texas?), which I should acquire and judge against Jasen.

Children love pop-up books. Heck, everyone loves pop-up books. Think of the time when you were entering Kindergarten for your first time and being welcomed by the brilliant colors and realistic pictures. I have yet to find anybody who can resist a pop-up book's charm.
"A is for Animals" actually cuts away from your usually "C is for Cow" animal books giving your son or daughter a little bit of animal diversity. How many times have you gazed into the shy eyes of a Unicorn Fish or stroked the head of a Wallaby when you were learning your ABCs? Why not give your special child that opportunity?
As far as the quality in the book itself, let me tell you that I have personally owned a copy of this book since 1993, and apart from the few pencil marks drawn on the Dolphin's nose, it has stayed in near-mint condition. Try finding another book that can hold such abuse.
In conclusion, I am surprised that this book isn't more popular. I personally regard this as one of my all-time favorite childhood books (plus, admit it, the animals are quite adorable)!
